I am new in the marvelous world of flash 8. I am building now my photo galley that I will then include in my Web site. Here are my 2 questions : My pics are featured in a big display with a thumb gallery under it. Until now I managed to create a mouse rollover effect on the thumbnails so that a big image of the thumbnail appear in the big display when I roll my mouse over its thumb. Codes are ok everything work perfectly. I want now to create 2 things :
1 : I want my images to appear in the big display by fading and
2 : I want a bigger preview window of my thumb when I roll over my mouse on each of them ( the preview window appear more or less like a tooltip and strech)
Here is the code I basically use for the gallery I achieved till now.
btn1_btn.onRollOver= function(){
myScreen_mc.gotoAndStop(1); };
btn1_btn.onPress = function() {
getURL("04big.jpg"); };
btn2_btn.onRollOver= function(){
myScreen_mc.gotoAndStop(2);
} btn2_btn.onPress = function() {
getURL("06big.jpg"); };
I followed the tutorial concerning the "Photo Gallery using XML and Flash", and everything works great. The only problem is that I have to make some alterations in the initial code, and I just can't get it right.
Here's what I have to do: 1. Introduce a fade out that intertwines with the fade in of the nextImage; 2. Add a link to the xml, so that when the user clicks the images, each leads to a different page.
To achieve this, I've tried to play around with the alpha values on prevImage, slideshow, and nextImage functions, but as for the results either the pictures don't appear, or simply flash intermittently when they do. As for the Link part, I've trying to introduce a <link> line on the xml file, and put a 'href' value on the <image> line. None worked.
I'm looking for a way to setup a slideshow of pictures that I can control with Actionscript. I've come up with something using setInterval, but I'm having problems with that, so I'm looking for an alternative method. I have maybe 5 photos. Starting with the first photo I'd like to have it slowly fade on, when it reaches an alpha of 99 or higher, it will wait a certain amount of seconds and then the next picture will fade in. I'd like to do this automatically through actionscript, don't want to use keyframes or animations.
I currently have a photo gallery where the images have a basic fade when switching photos.But I came across this site and their gallery, and noticed it's not just a simple fade... but looks like a high contrast fade, or something else. Does anyone know if this is able to be done with flash and actionscript 3.0? Or are there other components, programs, applications involved?
So basically what I want is to have all my photos kind of scattered on the page like they`re just lieing there kind of. When you click one, that single photo zooms up to almost fill the page and rotates to go from crooked to straight. And then a button would appear saying Back to have it zoom back out to it`s place. kind of like this one click Woodward on the left, then click The Camp)
I'm trying with the XML photo gallery presented in the [URL] tutorial. This is set up to display 1 picture at a time , but what if I want to display 2 pics next to each other, like in a table stucture with 1 row divided into 2 columns? How do I set up the XML to do something like that?
I'm working on a project for a website, I need to display statistics in a flash video, and as easy as it sounds, I can't get it to work. Basically, I need some text to fade in, and the actual number to count up [from zero to the number]. I managed to get it semi-working, but I can't get the numbers to fade in. I didn't know if there was any easy way to do this without doing it frame by frame.
I want to create a flash gallery that simply reads all of the files within a folder (they are all PNGs) and show them on the screen, then move to the next photo after a preset time. This would give us a dynamic was of displaying our content, if we could 'drop' the resource in a 'Images' folder and flash would then read that folder.
I have a question about XML in flash.I have a photo gallery that utilizes XML to call out the photo as well as the caption.See XML data below:[code]This is the AS that calls for the photos and captions (The whole script is very long, so I am only going to annote the part that calls for the XML): It goes like this:[code]My problem is that the data won't display special characters.I am worried because I am using multiple languages, and as it is I am having to remove important characters from translations..I also have a second AS that calls for XML data for body copy which which works great, displays all characters in multiple languages, and allows HTML code to be used:[code]Any idea on how to get the XML for the photo gallery to display all characters?
I was wondering in the photo gallery thumbnail tutorial how do I make the thumbnails display vertically not horizontally. Also how do you add the picture caption underneath the thumbnail? [URL]
I have build a gallery but its very simple. It takes images from xml file. I have attached all files in zip. First when I press next button it goes to next image but with no effect. It just displays next image. I want to incorporate a sliding effect when the image is changed to another. And second I want to use autoplay feature. As soon as swf starts the images came one by one with difference of few seconds. Attachments: slideshow.zip (752.0 K)
I'm having some problems with the XML/FLASH Photo Gallery Tutorial ([URL]). When I load the swf file into another movie the dynamic text will not display. Any thoughts to why this is happening.
The thing is a kind of photogallery ( i know that there already are a lot of gallery, but i wanted to make one myself...). I want to let photo's to fade in and to resize when loaded en to fade out when loading another one... fading in and resizing isn't to difficult... but sometimes it won't fade in and won't resize... i really don't get it. This only happens 1 out of 10 times. But when i try to intergrate the fade out it goes wrong 50% of the time.
its for a photo gallery that I downlowded,the images fades in and out, but only start that when you click a button(timer).I'm trying to founf out where in the script I can change this, so that the photo's start automatically,rather than, on a button click.I have pasted the script below, is that ok, or would people rather a zip file of the files?

I have an XML photo gallery, that when it starts it has a loader for the photos. It always starts with the XML file determined sequence, which is fine, but what happens is that the tabs on the right hand side of the photo loader go astray while it is loading the first photo. If the first photo was loaded instantly this wouldnt be an issue.Is there a way that I can preload that first photo, so that it is in memory when the swf file reads the XML file, allowing the first photo to be instantly loaded ?Amongst other things, I tried embedding the photo in the swf file, but it didnt work...obviously I have no idea what to script...I also created another scene, prior to the main scene, to preload the photo.. but it didnt work either, again probably used useless script...Going further in detail, this is the main script:
I have been searching for a particular photo gallery, and haven't got far. Here is an example of what I am looking for. With the example I wanting the user to be able to click on a photo for it to appear in the box above. I am looking for a tutorial, so I can customise to fit in my client's flash website.
It's a bit of decoration to go behind a logo. When the dMove var is commented out I get the appropriate line of squares fading in and out at random spots along the x = 78 axis, but when introduced nothing appears at all...
What I want to do is to make a gallery based on the tutorial gallery here (thumbs), but I want the user to be able to choose different galleries from within the movie. I figured that I could make a loop to cycle through the galleries, then nest another loop inside it to cycle through the pics, captions and thumbs. While I wrote, I constantly tested the output with trace commands, but when I tried nesting the loop I lost all output.. I'm pretty new to both Flash and Actionscript, so if theres an obvious solution I havent been able to see it.. This is my temp XML file:
i am trying to add extra images to the photo gallery attached. I would have thought it is easy and it seems so. I add an extra image to the gallery. I publish it. The html file shows the extra image in the gallery but the swf doesnt. driving me crazy, cant work it out?
I have a flash site that I'm working with that has an xml photo gallery as one of it's menu items. the photo gallery has three pages, all three containing thumbnail images that once clicked, load the larger image. The larger image dissolves in covering the page with the image. Once you click the larger image it dissolves out returning you to the gallery.
What I want to to do is to change the first page of this gallery to a video gallery, or player, leaving the other two galleries as image galleries. I tried simply replacing the images listed in the xml document to flv files and the flv file does not load. I simply want to know what it is I need to do in order to change this one page so that I can embed videos on it.
I've attached the Action script that loads the xml gallery in .txt format
i am trying to put some things together following the tutorials on this site. I did the tutorial 'Photo Gallery Using XML and Flash'and I followed it step by step and uploaded it with all the necessary files onto my remote server (xml file, Gallery folder, fla, swf, and html) - however, when I test the movie with flash, it seems to work fine (except the description test, my question to that later), but when I test it online it shows only the first image (but displays the correct number of images in the gallery); even when clicking the next button, it keeps loading the first image the first image. In other galleries (I use the structure for multiple galleries for my portfolio) the first image never loads at all.
Also, about the description text, in between the <caption> and </caption>, can I use <strong> and <em> and <br /> to change the appearance of my text? All it says is 'null'.If you want to look at what I mean check out my portfolio in the making. The problem with the first image displaying only is under 'paintings' and both the projects in 'design - packaging'. The second problem (no picture loading at all) is on some of the buttons in 'design - identity' (where I have not changed the description text of the tutorial yet). Again,
In the following code I am controlling the visibility of a MC with the following code:[code]This is working fine but the on/off transition is a bit harsh. Is there a way to add a fade in fade out effect with action script so the change from visible to not visible is not so abrupt?
over the button , its start contiunosly fade in/fade out effect until i rollout the mouse its have to stop , now i have the script but its works just when i rollover and rollout the mouse and then again i need to rollover again , i searched for this script in forum but didnt find the code for contiunosly effect.here is my script ..this script goes in my actionscript layer :
Looking for a tutorial on how to do a simple Fade In and Fade Out gallery, there doesn't need to be any buttons, just images that fade in and out one after the other, anyone know of any tutorials on this?
I want to make a flash header with a menu with 9 buttons and a changing photo for each (so 9 fotos). When you click on one menu button the current photo should fade out and the new foto should fade in (pretty much simultaneously so it is a nice transition). Now I don't want to make those picture fade-out and ins with tweens, because then i would have to make about 81 tweens..Instead, is there a way I could do this with AS?
I installed Flash CS4 and the alpha doesn't seem to work. I follow all the instructions to the letter but get no results. I had no problems working in Flash MX
