Feb 7, 2005
I am using Flash MX 2004 and would like to display the system date/time. The problem I am encountering is when trying to use a pixel font to display it with. Is this possible??? Or can you use only standard (safe) fonts i.e. Arial, sans-serif etc.

how to display seconds in my Date/Time display. right now I have Year, month, day, Hours and minutes displaying. But my Seconds are showing up undefined.

By default, when you visit a website that is made entirely in Flash and there is a Tme and Date movie clip feature... you know... it gets the current time and date of your computer so you're actually seeing your own time, right? What I've always wanted to do is when you visit a website that is made entirely in Falsh, and you have a Time and Date movie clip that tells the creators current time and the current date instead of just getting the values of your computer time and displaying your own. I'm in the Philippines so I want the visitors of my site to view what time and date is it in the Philippines.
How do I make the date and time if its less than 10 to display a zero in front so for example like four o six and and six seconds looks like this 04:06:06 instead of this 4:6:6. Also how do you do this with a date I want a date have only 2 digits for the year and if the month and day are less than 10 to display a zero in front of them...
I retrieve a date and time form a mysql db through php and display it on my AS3 page in a dynamic txtfield but it also displays the xml tags, so it looks like this: <date>Saturday 14.10 Time: 13.00</date> How do I display this without the tags?

Is there a way in flex 3 chart component to display both the date and time using horizontal DateTimeAxis?
Currently the DateTimeAxis element has an attribute dataunits which allows to set the value to any of "milliseconds|seconds|minutes|hours|days|weeks|months|years" but I want to display the label as "2009/09/15 06:00:00" which includes the day and the time too.
I mean this code works perfectly I mean display the time and date orderly...but my problem is why this time just display static when i run my swf...suppose to it will update it's minute and hour accordingly....here's the code
[Code]...
is it I have to setting setInterval in case of update the minutes every seconds.
I have an mx:DateField in my Flex UI that has a formatString="dd.mm.yyyy" attached to it. However, the initial value for that field may not be in the format specified/defined for the DateField (due to legacy reasons). So, currently, if I just set that value (text) on the DateField, the field is shown empty. I think because it fails to accept the value in a format different than what's configured.
i am writing a program that need to load photoshowever, there is limitation in flex that users cannot load photos with pixel above 4069 x 4069 into a bitmapdata.how can i check photos pixel before running to error? since some pictures are big nowadays, i would llike to check the user`s system memory and free harddisk space. See if the computer have enough space to load the photos.
I've made a preloader that shows the percentage that is loaded with a pixel font. It is dynamic, can people without this font on their computer see it? If not, how can I create this preloader so everyone even without that font can see it?
I am having problem with displaying pixel font right in animation, check: [URL] Font is embed in dynamic text field. If it's 'antialiased for animation' then font is blurry and if it's 'Bitmap text (no anti-alias)' then animation is not smooth.
Is it possible to make this a mask? The system contains one movieclip of a circle called ball, also a class called ball and a class called particle. I want the particle system movieclips to display an image...I'm sure this is possible...just have not been able to find a way. A little backround, I'm a completely selftaught n00b when it comes to AS3, but I'm grasping it fairly well... the tutorial is on this website, called A Simple Particle System Using Actionscript 3.
I added in my application universal time, and I gave start and stop time. The process is going smoothly, but if I change my system (local) time, the entire time will be changed. Is there any solution to solve this problem?
Is it possible to embed code into a flash swf that pulls the system date and if it is greater then a hardcoded date, the file will stop playing, quit or abort playing, or just jump to the end of the swf?
I need to measure some text before I place it down in my scene programmatically. Is there something like a measureString(s:String, f:Font) function? If so, can someone give me some hints of where it is?
I've created a small pixel-font that I want to use in a Flash game. Each letter is 6 pixels tall, and 7 pixels wide. I've saved a PNG file with all the letters from A-Z lined up next to each other. Basically, I'd like to be able to have a system where I point to the PNG file and say "A is position (0,0) to (7,6), B is position (7,0) to (14, 6), etc" then render those individually on the screen as letters in my font.
I was inspired to do this by watching (the creator of Minecraft) Notch do it in a video of him making Megagun. So, has anyone done anything like this before? Is there a simple library that will let me do it already?
In order to use a pixel font in my textfields, I have created a font class in the Flash IDE. Then, I created a TextField instance with the font embedded with the anti aliasing set to bitmap. I export an SWC with all those things.I created a class with a nice API to be able to deal with this stuff easily. In FDT, I use class and this all works properly.
The issue here is that I now want to use one of these textfields as an input. I tried setting the textfield type to TextFieldType.INPUT, however the only thing that this does is allow me to select the text, I cannot type. I also created another asset with the type already set to input, does not work either.I tried with just the asset, not with my class, and then I can type ok.Is there something that prevents a textfield from being editable once it is part of a sprite? Here is the code of my class with the API:
I have some dynamic text with a background box that needs to widen to match the width of the text, this is how I am doing it at the moment, by multiplying by the average pixel width of arial. However it doesnt seem to be that accurate
some browser sizes it looks fine but at others because the mc uses the browser window width and heigth/2 to find the middle of the stage. But at some sizes the half of the browser windows becomes an uneven number, which is blurring the pixel fontthe pixel font is in the mcSite mc) How can I solve this?
My code: Stage.scaleMode = 'noScale'; Stage.align = 'TL';
How to convert UTC time into date time format in flex. I am using sdk 3.5. for example I have current date time in UTC format as 1309522586000 (milliseconds) and I want to convert it to friday jul 1 2011. How can I do this??
What method/property (and in what class/library) returns/contains the time (in milliseconds) either the computer has been running or the swf file has been running. I remember that I used some property/method for this before, but I just can't remember what it was..
I'm working on creating a new look for my portfolio and had a concept.I would like have one movie clip tween in real time 365 frame increments, while another moves in real time minute or second increments.Along with this, I would like to be able to override the passage of time by scrolling an associated scrollbar. The two tweens would be independent of one another.
