I am using Flash MX 2004 and would like to display the system date/time. The problem I am encountering is when trying to use a pixel font to display it with. Is this possible??? Or can you use only standard (safe) fonts i.e. Arial, sans-serif etc.
I added in my application universal time, and I gave start and stop time. The process is going smoothly, but if I change my system (local) time, the entire time will be changed. Is there any solution to solve this problem?
I want to calculate the number of ms elapsed between 2 time points for measuring reaction time. The system clock change (e.g. from auto sync) messed up the calculation. The function flash.utils.getTimer is supposed to return the number of milliseconds that have elapsed since the Flash runtime virtual machine for ActionScript 3.0 (AVM2) started. This number of milliseconds is not affected by system clock change on Windows, but this is not true on Mac. The Date class is affected by system clock change on Windows or Mac.Is there any other timing function that returns time which is not affected by system clock change on Mac?
I have a REGISTERED Flash media server version with update 1 and when i try to start it I have this error in the evnet log : "FMS has detected system time is going backwards;shutting down server" i try to reinstall it, the system clock is ok

how one might change a site element based on the users computer time? What we are trying to do is change the color of the sky and shade of the buildings in a cityscape scene on a cartoonish style site. If it is 9:00 PM on the site visitor's end, they will see a nighttime colored scene. If it's 7:00 AM, it would be sunrise-ish.

I'm trying (and struggling) to get my head around AS3 and am building a flash webpage. I have 2 layers in the timeline, each containing a movie clip matching the page size with instance names backgroundDay and backgroundNight. What I'm wanting is for the background to change for the day and night, so that from 18:00 to 06:00 the alpha of backgroundDay becomes 0 to show backgroundNight behind.

Is it possible to embed code into a flash swf that pulls the system date and if it is greater then a hardcoded date, the file will stop playing, quit or abort playing, or just jump to the end of the swf?
I have a situation where I have a date in this format.
Code: var currentDate : String = "09/22/09"
and I want to be able to change this dynamically to the next date.like you had currentDate +1. The reason for this is the user selects this date but I want another field to display the next date after this.I thought about using the date object to take care of this for me but I'm not sure that will work.If I pass the date object this format it returns.
newDate = Wed Sep 22 00:00:00 GMT-0500 1909
I could start stripping out the currentDate and adding in lots of if statements for the month year and date and figuring out leap years but I thought the date object could solve all this.

What method/property (and in what class/library) returns/contains the time (in milliseconds) either the computer has been running or the swf file has been running. I remember that I used some property/method for this before, but I just can't remember what it was..
I'm working on creating a new look for my portfolio and had a concept.I would like have one movie clip tween in real time 365 frame increments, while another moves in real time minute or second increments.Along with this, I would like to be able to override the passage of time by scrolling an associated scrollbar. The two tweens would be independent of one another.

We had FMS2 installed before and the paths to all our videos are like rtmp://ServerName/sites/.... (the default path on FMS2) Now we upgrade to FMS4 and we would like to keep these paths the same because we have many HTMLs that reference these videos. However, the default path on FMS4 is rtmp://ServerName/vod/... Is there a way to change "vod" to "sites"?
I tried to change VOD_COMMON_DIR in fms.ini from /install_dir/webroot/vod to /install_dir/webroot/sites, and also changed the document root in httpd.conf, but rtmp://ServerName/sites/ is still not working.
I am playing around with the timedate.getHours(); function and I was wondering how I might go about setting up a condition whereby between 3am and 3pm, movieclip1 loads and between 3pm and 3am, movieclip2 loads?
I'm sure it's not that difficult but I'm not sure how to structure the if/else statement or read the hour from the timedate function.
I am working with Flex, Flash, Action Script and I want to browse the local machine file system using Operating System's file browse window and select a file then i want to get the full path of the selected file. How can I do this?
I'm having a lot of trouble getting my AS3 code to work. I have made a digital clock that grabs the system's time and I want to be able to control the speed of the time by using a slider and a button to reset the time back to the system's clock. Any idea how I go about doing this? I figure I need to grab the system's time and then stop it and create my own clock by increasing the seconds by 1.
