I am new to Flash, and am working on developing an iOS app.I have my first basic app running.My question is, how do I change the style of my TextInput at design time?I see how to do it in code, but I am hoping that I wont have to have a bunch of extra code, justto set the styles of the inputs.

What we are trying to do is change the color of the sky and shade of the buildings in a cityscape scene on a cartoonish style site. If it is 9:00 PM on the site visitor's end, they will see a nighttime colored scene. If it's 7:00 AM, it would be sunrise-ish.
View 3 RepliesI'm using Flash CS5 and AS3. I've made a form using the library's "User Interface" object and I want to change the font size for the TextInput and TextArea fields but I can't find any option in their properties to change it.
I've tried this code

even though I don't get any error while publishing, my page doesn't appear, if I remove this code the page comes back to work.

All I need is to style it in such a way that, it will be having search image on the right, which when clicked, will search. Its actually for look and feel part of the application, which will make the search box look much better.
It is exactly similar behavior implemented in search box embedded in Firefox.

i put extra layer then put my sound on OVER frame and DOWN frame.
when i test the movie and click my button both "OVER" and "DOWN" sound is played. is there anyway to make just only "DOWN" sound that can be played without actionscripting to minimize actionscripting too much

View 1 RepliesI am new to Flex and trying to modify some existing code.I am trying to It uses and Advanced DataGrid. In the click event, the ListEvent is passed in, and the code is able to access properties such as event.itemRenderer.data.feature.I would like to check whether the user has clicked on a parent (group) record or the child record; at runtime, I can see that the property I want to access is event.itemRenderer.listData.hasChildren. However, the listData property of itemRenderer does not show up in intellisense, and when I try to access that at design time, the project will not build because of the error "Access of possibly undefined property listData". But the property .data.feature doesn't show up in intellisense at design time either, and that builds and runs just fine.
What do I need to do to access event.itemRenderer.listData without throwing errors when I build the project? Do I need to capture a different event, or cast the event object or one of its properties into another object that will have the properties I need at runtime (I've investigated these options but cannot find info on how to do that).
I want to design a component for retrieving real time data. A service schedule that displays a variety things:
Customer I.D.
Schedule time for service
Service type
Whether that service is delayed or on -time
Service completed
This would be displayed on the website.

In Flex 4, I am trying to make a simple browse button update the text field of an TextInput object with the file name that the browse button gets. It doesn't have to be the full path, all I want is the file name to show up. It only shows up after hitting the browse button for a second time, not after I have selected my file the first time. Here is my code:

I am using Adobe Flash CS5 and Action Script 3, but I am struggling to do something really simple (which means I am looking in the wrong place probably), I have 5 TextInput fields, I have added to the stage via the 'Components' option, but after discovering how to change the colour of the fields, I now want to change the font which appears when you type directly into the fields when the Flash movie is playing, however I can't seems to find this function. I found a tutorial which mentioned going to the properties panel and then clicking 'Character, then 'Embed Font', but this maybe in CS4?

But client requirements is when user click on button then first show a confirmation page with details information that client give. But can't use another page or <mx:TextInput /> in this confirmation page, it will be <mx:Label />. After show the confirmation page if clients click on Button then submit the info. There is a library component represented by Class A. But constructor of this class requires some parameters. When the component needs to be added dynamically, it's fine because of code :

But what if my movieclip is already present on the stage. I notice it gives out error, that the parameters are null.
Is their any way to insert constructor parameters for movieclips already on stage.
I'm trying to use fl.controls.Button under Flash CS3 to replace some "classic" custom button symbols with resizable ones with a consistent look and feel. However, I want to apply an icon to the button when authoring the layout of a particular frame on the timeline - but the only way I can see to set the icon style on a button is at runtime with myButton.setStyle(). Is there no way to customise style properties of AS3 Components when authoring on the stage, such that the preview in the IDE vaguely matches the end result? The 'Properties' inspector only provides 'emphasized', 'label', 'labelPlacement', 'selected' and 'toggle' inspectable properties - how do I assign style information at authoring-time?

View 2 RepliesI'm having issues changing a TextInput background color after the initial onLoad using AS2. On load, I have no issues setting the background color with this code:

However, I have a form validator run when focus is lost but yet I cannot set the background color at that point. For example, I'm trying to set the background color to orange and text to white if the field's contents are invalid. Even something simple like this doesn't affect the colors.
I was just curious about the password mode display of the TextInput control in flex. The control displays asterisks instead of the characters themselves when the 'displayAsPassword' is set to true. Quoting the documentation,displayAsPassword If true, the field does not display entered text, instead, each text character entered into the control appears as the character "*".So, is there any way to change this displayed character, unless of course creating a custom component or extending the existing TextInput control?

What I'm trying to do: allow a user to be able to select a color palette for a custom component by selecting from a drop down menu with a variety of icons.
I have the drop down menu part down, but I'm trying to understand how to best handle the various styles in my code. Ideally I would have liked to be able to load styles at run time, but I don't see a major advantage with this so I'm now thinking about compiling in all styles. Still, I can't seem to find a decent way to structure the code. Hacking it seems pretty easy / fast, but there's got a better way than having a big fat array of values which can be indexed via some index associated with each icon
Using two TextInput boxes (fName and lName) which are writting at the same time over to a (fullName) Text box, BUT change the data in here automatically to 'small Caps' lettering with NO spaces. I'm finding all sort of things but nothing close enough.
