Rescale Image At Design Time?

View 5 RepliesThe images i load into the flash website must be 50 x 50 pixels in the flash website. But if i'm uplaoding an image with for example 100X100 or 300x 92 the image doesn't rescale to 50x 50 i tried and i tried but i can't find the solution. I started with a mask, but because the whole news part uses a mask for the scroll content the image will not appear when using a mask 50x50.
Does someone have any clue what i can do? To have a view so you can see the result i mean see [URL] And then the option "nieuws" The first record got a image with the wrong idea the second one is how it's suposed to be. I'm using a xml/php file wich get all the records from my database..
I have a site that allows a user to upload an image, modify the image, and then save the image to their computer. This works fine, or at least it suits me so far. This is done by uploading an image to an empty movie clip, failcont_mc, and then exporting it as a jpeg once the user is done editing the image. The empty movie clip seems to be dimensionless, which isn't a problem.
The problem lies when the user uploads a photo that has very high dimensions. I'd like to be able to upload the image, then scale it down and keep it's aspect ratio if it's too large. I only want to be able to do this if the image is too large. For example, load an image sized at 800x600 and scale it down to fit into an area that is 500x400 while keeping it's proportions in tact.
Here is an idea of what I want in steps:
1. Upload the image into empty movieclip
2. Check dimensions of the occupied movieclip (previously empty)
3. if the dimensions are above 500x400
4. then scale the movieclip down while keeping proportions in tact
5. display movieclip
The code is made up of snippets from here and there on the internet, so don't be surprised if you see something that looks familiar. On a side note, I'd like to give credit to those who have allowed their code to be used openly. All of the code works fine, I would just like to add steps 2, 3, and 4.

In the code, I have a big white space to give an idea of where I'd like to place the code. I assume the code is executed as it is read by the flashplayer. What I have tried so far was grabbing the width and height of the "occupied" movieclip and setting them as variables. I used these variables to determine if the width or height was the larger number. Then I used the variables to make a proportion to make sure the end dimensions of the movieclip stayed within the area.

i try to put a sound when the button is clicked or roll over on design .
Here is how i do it
i put extra layer then put my sound on OVER frame and DOWN frame.
when i test the movie and click my button both "OVER" and "DOWN" sound is played. is there anyway to make just only "DOWN" sound that can be played without actionscripting to minimize actionscripting too much

View 1 RepliesI am new to Flex and trying to modify some existing code.I am trying to It uses and Advanced DataGrid. In the click event, the ListEvent is passed in, and the code is able to access properties such as event.itemRenderer.data.feature.I would like to check whether the user has clicked on a parent (group) record or the child record; at runtime, I can see that the property I want to access is event.itemRenderer.listData.hasChildren. However, the listData property of itemRenderer does not show up in intellisense, and when I try to access that at design time, the project will not build because of the error "Access of possibly undefined property listData". But the property .data.feature doesn't show up in intellisense at design time either, and that builds and runs just fine.
What do I need to do to access event.itemRenderer.listData without throwing errors when I build the project? Do I need to capture a different event, or cast the event object or one of its properties into another object that will have the properties I need at runtime (I've investigated these options but cannot find info on how to do that).
I want to design a component for retrieving real time data. A service schedule that displays a variety things:
Customer I.D.
Schedule time for service
Service type
Whether that service is delayed or on -time
Service completed
This would be displayed on the website.
Now to my question, would Flash Professional 2004 be the appropraite environment ( application ) to do with
There is a library component represented by Class A. But constructor of this class requires some parameters. When the component needs to be added dynamically, it's fine because of code :

But what if my movieclip is already present on the stage. I notice it gives out error, that the parameters are null.
Is their any way to insert constructor parameters for movieclips already on stage.
My embedded images show up in the Flex Builder Design Preview, but are not displayed when the application is run. The images have relative paths (/assets/images/...), and the application is run on the server (wamp). I've appended the path to the compiled location [URL] and tried to display a image in the browser, and the image exists, too. I've compiled it via FlashDevelop, Flex Builder, and Ant. I've deleted and remade the bin/bin-debug/release/bin-release files to no avail.
View 1 RepliesI have some problem with movieclips. What i want to get is something like an image scroller with design of movie tape. The number of slides (in this movie tape) depends on number of nodes in xml, and ech slide should load external image and to be a hyperlink to a specified in xml url.
Everything is clear except this. How can i assign to every movieclip a design of a slide of the movie tape
I can prepare such a movieclip, i can duplicate it, but how can i every duplicate slide connect with a node in xml? i can easy make a slide by slide basing on xml, but how can i then assign the design?
I am using the draw() method of the BitmapData to encode a jpeg of part of the image. Now this should be easy enough given the object I want to draw to the bitmap is on the stage at design time so I know its location and dimetions exactly! Heres the code I have in place.

I know for a FACT that no part of the street clip I am drawing out is in negative space, and it's registration is (0,0). However, it cuts off A lot of the top of my image. y=5 in the above rectangle is where I need the top to be, but it cuts the top off of the image... even if I change it to 0, it has no effect.
Im trying to design a countdown timer, with the ability to set the countdown time through buttons.I would like to have the dynamic text field to display the countdown numbers in HH:MM:SS format.I would also love to have a 30 minute button, and a 15 minute button which generates the time in the text field.Then a start and stop button to begin or end the countdown sequence.

To do that I activated onion skin tool, selected all objects and all frames and resized by using the transform tool.

I imported the .FLV file in Flash:ImportVideo> *.flv > Added SkinBarMenu with FullScreen Button > Replaced the remote address instead of local address: http:[url]......I rescaled the video at 720x405pixels and also the Flash Document to fit it.I included the video in the webpage with Dreamweaver, with FullScreen playback properties.When I playback the video on the website, it appears at 720x405pixels;
- When I click on FullScreen button, the video become up-scaled from 720x405px and loose the resolution?- Or at FullScreen, I can view it at the original resolution of 1024x576pixels, in the same manner as when it is imported in Flash?
- Such Flash video behavior, is the same as YouTube videos? (From small, it become hi-res at FullScreen, conserving original dimensions)?
I've been through all the tutorials on flash scaling and stage resizing and can't figure this one out. I have an MC in _y proportion to the Stage.height-40, so when resizing the browser I should always be able to see it.
The Problem: I know how to do this; by publishing the movie at 100% width and height - this works fine. But my flash movie is a magazine which is long, and requires scrolling in the browser to see the content.
As soon as I set the movie to publish width/height at 100% I can no longer scroll my flash magazine in the browser.
Is there a way to readjust the MC _y position as the user scrolls up and down; so the MC is always in view. So it'd look similiar to those pesky ads that follows you as you scroll away.

I have some FLA/SWF assets which are hierarchies of bitmaps.They have timelines which page-flip through different bitmaps.I'd like to scale these assets down in pixel-size, including the bitmaps they're composed of.I'm not a Flash Animator, but the artist i'm working with doesn't know of an automated way to achieve this. ie, that it's a long a laborious manual process.Does anyone know of a tool which can simplify the re-scaling of bitmap-based FLAs ?

Okay what I after is how to detect the length of the string populated from array...then auto rescale the height of the title_mc as shown in my AS as well as the dynamic created textfield ..so the textfield will display long string + "newline" for long string...(autowrapper)..

Say i have a movieclip named a_Mc ( ClassA ) I have a sub-movieclip named b_Mc ( ClassB )
CASE 1: Accessing the sub-movieclip b_Mc which is already present inside the a_Mc movieclip
( Since Flash IDE has "Automatic instance naming" OFF )
ClassA mentions the name of b_Mc as => var b_Mc:MovieClip;
NOTE HERE: That the variable name MUST BE same as the name of the instance on stage.

If I have a button on my screen that I want to make a box appear when clicked, how would I go about doing that? It also needs to disappear after 10 seconds. I am not sure if this is an issue, but it needs to appear on the screen while everything else is happening underneath it. So the rest of the animation must continue on as this appears above it.

I also cannot export to .swf.I tried saving the file with different names in different locations and did not work.I also have no corrupt font (tried looking for them after I read it in a forum)I really need a solution or find where the problem is to be able to continue what ive been working on.
View 2 RepliesI have learned from a video tutorial (Flash CS5 in the Family 23: Banner Ad Part 1)to use the F5 key to set the length of a time line of a particular image.When using the F5 key on the MAC keyboard, it will only allow for the audio to be worked with.I've tried Apple+F5, Option+F5, Ctrl+F5 etc.What am I missing?
