I have created an Image component in flash which is having a "imageSource" paramter, where in a user can provide the path of his/her image(both from web or from harddisk). I want that image to be compiled with the swf. how can i do that?.

View 1 RepliesI have recently launched a site for a client which includes an interactive flash element on the home page but it takes a long time to load (10-30seconds). I have followed advice from others about keeping image small and link movies rather than embed but still slow, the swf file is about 7.9mb which i thought was ok for the size of flash file. Does anyway else know where I have gone wrong whether it be the embedding or some other area.
View 5 RepliesIf I have a button on my screen that I want to make a box appear when clicked, how would I go about doing that? It also needs to disappear after 10 seconds. I am not sure if this is an issue, but it needs to appear on the screen while everything else is happening underneath it. So the rest of the animation must continue on as this appears above it.

I also cannot export to .swf.I tried saving the file with different names in different locations and did not work.I also have no corrupt font (tried looking for them after I read it in a forum)I really need a solution or find where the problem is to be able to continue what ive been working on.
View 2 RepliesI have learned from a video tutorial (Flash CS5 in the Family 23: Banner Ad Part 1)to use the F5 key to set the length of a time line of a particular image.When using the F5 key on the MAC keyboard, it will only allow for the audio to be worked with.I've tried Apple+F5, Option+F5, Ctrl+F5 etc.What am I missing?

View 5 RepliesI have been using the embed feature of flex to embed fonts at compile time.[code]I realize this isnt the entire line. Im just putting in the pertinent parts.Either one works fine. My question is , what if I dont know what font i need where this line exists. For example let say i want to instantiate a new object of type SomeField. And as an arguement i want to pass in a string , an associative id of the system font, like "Arial" or "Tahoma". Then inside the SomeField class where the :[code]where $Some var is a string assigned by the caller of the child. The idea is to have the developer be able to import a class , create a new instance of that class , and pass in a string , being the name of the font theyd like to dynamically embed. All this could be done without ever having to go into the acutal class defintion for the object and manually chaning the 'systemFont' or 'source' linakge.

My current solution has a distinct code smell in its repetition, and I'm certain that there is a better way. My code is basically: In a LevelLoader class, embed all the levels

There are a couple of problems with this approach: I have to add a line for embedding each level. Optimally, all files in a folder would be automatically embedded.A level can't be "prepared" from a string. I'd like to be able to pass LevelLoader a level number or level name as a string.I think that all strings are stored in memory rather than on disk.How could I program this "correctly"?

I've got a custom AS3 scrollbar that I need to modify. The scroll thumb (the draggable part of a scrollbar) is currently just done by drawing a rectangle. But I need it to look more like a real scrollbar. Not sure how to modify the below code to import/use a scroll thumb image:

But now I need to know if two things are possible. Can I create a hyperlink (if I can call it that) that will pull documents off of the web? And if so what is a sample function.
