ActionScript 3.0 :: Hyperlinks - Embed Image File Into Dynamic TextBox

Jan 15, 2010

I'm new to flash as a whole but it is necessary for a project that I'm working on. How to make a scrolling dynamic text box through trial and error, and I'm proud of that feature. But now I need to know if two things are possible. Can I create a hyperlink (if I can call it that) that will pull documents off of the web? And if so what is a sample function. The second thing I would like to know is can I embed an image file into that dynamic text box? If so how can I do that.

Actionscript 3 :: Embed Dynamic Audio File(s) / Use Variables In Embed?

Feb 10, 2012

Making a piano/keyboard application and trying to figure out the best way to set this up .I plan on having a directory of sounds for each 'instrument' in my assets folder (piano1/C4.mp3,piano1/D4.mpg,...)Is there a way to import/embed all of these as an array? Also is there a way I can pass a variable to this class to indicate which folder I want to import these from? Something that would be ideal

var type = "piano2"; //passed from class being called by
foreach(notes as note){
[Embed(source = 'assets/sounds/'+type +'/'+note+'.mp3')] private const C3:Class;
public var c3:Sfx = new Sfx(C3);
}

Or would it be a better idea to have a class for each of these "types" that pulls all notes?

var items = channel_xml.firstChild.firstChild.childNodes;
box.text1.text = title.firstChild.firstChild.nodeValue;

Flash 8 :: Loading Contents Of External TXT File Into Dynamic TextBox

Jul 28, 2009

I've got a movieclip with a blank dynamic textbox inside. On frame 1 of this movieclip, I have the actionscript to load the contents of an external .txt file into the dynamic textbox. The problems are:

1. I have an <img> tag in the external .txt that doesn't work (actually, the text does wrap around where the img is supposed to be in the dynamic textbox, but the img itself is not appearing.
2. All <p> tags don't work, but <br> does.
3. I have an ampersand (&) in the .txt file and all text is cut off at that point when loaded into the dynamic textbox. I've tried escaping it (&) and using & to no avail.

ActionScript 1/2 :: Hyperlinks In Dynamic Text

Aug 11, 2009

I have a dynamic textbox on the 3rd level of a flash movie. The textbox has some hyperlinks for which I used this AS2 code as a test:[code]When I test the scene it works well on all levels apart from the root level. When I test the whole movie, the link does not respond. On rollover the mouse converts into a text cursor, and I have to click several times, until randomly a hand comes up and the link opens. I don't understand why on all sublevels (in the movieclips), the link works perfectly (on rollover mouse becomes hand and click loads URL int browser), but not on the root level. Btw, I placed the movie with the textbox on top, so there is no layer above that in the root timeline.

Embed Fonts Of All Dynamic Text Objects In A Flash File?

Jun 3, 2009

I have created a Flash file which will act as our company's standard presentation / portfolio of all previous projects.  I've pretty much got it running the way I want, but I've just tried it on a few different computers and realised that the fonts aren't embedded.  I've used our corporate font so it needs to look right.  Having read the following documentation [URL] I now understand how to embed fonts for one dynamic text object at a time.  However, I have a lot of different dynamic text objects in the file and I would dearly love to embed them all in one step!  The same embedding options can be applied to just about all objects, as they're all the same size and font.

Professional :: Multiple Hyperlinks On An Image?

Apr 24, 2011

I use a content management system [CMS] here at work so am to a certain extent restricted in terms of web design. In Dreamweaver I can easily create 'hotspots' on an image so there are hyperlinks all over it, however inserting this image in the CMS so that all the 'hotspots' work isn't possible (well I can't make it work). However, it is possible to embed Flash into the CMS by using appropriate code in an html portlet.

Consequently, if I have a .PNG image how do I convert that to a movie in Flash and then create lots of hyperlinks all over the image? If Flash is not the best way to do this, should I use Fireworks? In Fireworks I am able to add hotspots to an image, but when I save the image with the hotspots in my 'web folder' and view the url, the hotspots don't work. The onlt way I seem to be able to make the hotspots work in Fireworks is to save it as a .htm and then view that url, but obviously that is no good as I can't insert that as an image on a webpage in the CMS as it isn't an image

ActionScript 2.0 :: Embed Several Fonts For Use In ONE Textbox?

Jul 23, 2007

I have a dynamic Textbox in my SWF. It is attached to a movieclip and can be moved around and such. All somewhat simple. That's not the issue yet

What I need to accomplish is for it to accept different non-standard Fonts (from a list of about 50 Fonts that need to be available). I don't care if it's done by using the "htmlText"-property of the textfield or the "font" property of the TextFormat object... or any other way- I just need it to work.

What I mean it- I need to find a way to get the characters of a bunch of non-standard Fonts (such as "Army.ttf" and "College.ttf") to be available in my SWF so that the textfield can draw from that resource.

I know how to use textfields and TextFormat (at least well enough, I think) and AS 2.0 in general (though I am certainly not a pro)... I know how to Embed a Font to a Textfield (not that that is an accomplishment. heh) I just can't seem to tie the loose ends.

I thought it might be enough to have some textfields in the SWF, "off stage" (one for every font I wanted to embed) and have *them* embed the font I want in order for it to be in the SWF file for the *dynamic* Textfield to use... but I guess it's not at all that simple.

Embed Accented Latin Fonts (like French) Into A Dynamic Text Field In Flash CS5 Called From A .txt File?

Jun 29, 2011

I've been using Flash for a few years now and I've recently (5 months+) started using CS5 package.My query is how do I successfully embed accented latin characters into a "classic" dynamic text field in my compiled Flash movie that are called from an external text file. I've searched the various forums online and all the methods demonstrated have not worked.

What I've done so far is to to select my dynamic text field, click on "Embed" within the PROPERTIES area, choose the font and the weight, then add any of the foreign characters and/or glyphs to the "Also include these characters:" area then finish up and compile. When I run my SWF file, the glyphs and accented fonts are missing but all the other typical Latin characters show up.

I tried this same method in CS4 (because we have an old Mac in the office too), and almost the same thing happened except instead of completely missing out the glyphs and fonts, it showed a box (almost like an image placeholder) instead.

CS3 Dynamic Textbox Bullet Bug

Apr 22, 2009

I've been working with Flash for over 3 years, but I can't figure this one out. I've got a body of text, half of which are bulleted points designated by <li></li>. It's loaded into a html-ised dynamic textbox.

[Code]....

It displays fine as is. However, if I make the box selectable, and select any part of the bulleted list, the ENTIRE body of text turns into a giant bulleted list, including the non-bulleted portion at the beginning. I've managed to replicate this bug with Flash 8 and CS3, using a variety of flas made from scratch.
