am currently facing an issue with displaying the % sign in my dynamic textbox which is loading a text file saved in UTF-8 format. Am using Flash CS5.
my text file contains this:
varEn=Discounts up to 10% on any goods bought today!

I am trying to get a text file to display in a dynamic scrolling textbox as HTML. What do I need to put in my code so that the textbox displays it correctly and leaves out the HTML tags?

In my txt file there are some "&" and "+" characters that need to be displayed. So I URL encoded these characters. "&" becomes %26 and "+" becomes %2b. Strange thing is: it works perfect for the "+", but the "&" won't show nowhere...

In other words, if today is th 24th of December then I'd like the dynamic textbox to say "merry christmas" or something like that...HOWEVER I need to set this actionscript up so that it reads 8 different days and the dynamic textbox holds 8 different values. How do I do this? I'm having a LOT of trouble with this..and I'm on a deadline

I have a basic flash file with a button, when you hover over it, an object with dynamic text appears. Now I want text from an XML file to be pulled from it into my dynamic text box. This is what my code in my actionScript looks like so far...

How to simply grab the info in the description tags and whack it in my dynamic text field?
I have a dynamic textfield being populated with an xml files' content. I then have a css stylesheet loaded into format the text. This all works great, but what doesn't work is the ability to bold some of the words in that text. I have both the regular and bold versions of the font embedded into the swf, I can test out just a bold block of text and it works fine. The css is also working as it will change the size of the text that I tell it to. Everything is working, but for some reason I am not able to get the bolder version of the font to display in the same text box as the regular one. I have also tried to change fonts but had the same outcome.
View 2 RepliesIm trying to set some text using a TLF text inside Flash CS5. I create a TLF text inside a movieclip, to later access and modify that text at runtime, the problem is, when I load the symbol of the movieclip from Flash Builder, it says that it cant be found, If I delete the TLF text, and publish it again, it works ok... I have no compilation errors.
What cuould be the issue?, doesn't matter if I assign an instance name to the text or not, as soon as I place the TLF text there, my main swf's symbol cant be found..
ok in theory this sounds brutally easy. Just can't make it fire. On my stage I have an atm movieclip called "atm". In it I have 8 buttons l1-l4 and r1-r4. I add and remove functions based upon what is on the screen. So on the third screen I want when I hit l1 for a dynamic text box to display "20". So my thought is, place the dynamic textbox where I need it, create the instance name, and where it needs to come up use this line of code:

well the box remains blank. I've posted all my code if it makes things easier to understand.

I'm trying to pull in dynamic text from a txt file and display in a web page. The text works great when I view the .swf, but when I place the .swf in a web page the text no longer appears. I'm using loadVariables("text.txt", ""); in my ActionScript and text.txt is located in the same directory. I have embedded the fonts and I'm using Flash CS5 and I have selected Classic Text/Dynamic Text.

I have combed the Web and I can't seem to find the answer. All I want to do is display some html-formatted text, located within an external XML file, in a dynamic text field in Flash CS3.
I don't have any code to supply because at this point the only thing I'm trying to display in the text field is "<b>This</b> is a <a href="http://www.google.com">test</a>." For this hypothetical example, I could call the text field myTextField. I just need to know how to format the AS3 code to get the XML to display inside myTextField.

I am trying to create a tshirt design tool in flash as2. I have created 2 textboxes one is dynamic and one is input. When i type in the text in the input textbox it should appear on the other dynamic textbox as i type. I am currently working on a project for my computer programming course, creating an rpg game, and have already ran into a problem i've spent a few hours trying to fix; I have an input textbox with the instance name of "inputname". The player is supposed to put his name here and then click a button, instance name continuebtn, that will change to frame two on the scene. Frame two has a dynamic textbox with the name of "greetingtb".
greetingtb already says 'ahh so your name is ' and after that I would like to add the name that was placed into inputname. What I thought would work was create a variable with the name of playername. I dont know if i wrote this right, i declared it as my first thing in an action layer:

I've got a movieclip with a blank dynamic textbox inside. On frame 1 of this movieclip, I have the actionscript to load the contents of an external .txt file into the dynamic textbox. The problems are:
1. I have an <img> tag in the external .txt that doesn't work (actually, the text does wrap around where the img is supposed to be in the dynamic textbox, but the img itself is not appearing.
2. All <p> tags don't work, but <br> does.
3. I have an ampersand (&) in the .txt file and all text is cut off at that point when loaded into the dynamic textbox. I've tried escaping it (&) and using & to no avail.
I'm new to flash as a whole but it is necessary for a project that I'm working on. How to make a scrolling dynamic text box through trial and error, and I'm proud of that feature. But now I need to know if two things are possible. Can I create a hyperlink (if I can call it that) that will pull documents off of the web? And if so what is a sample function. The second thing I would like to know is can I embed an image file into that dynamic text box? If so how can I do that.
