I have a dynamic text box which gets populated depending on the value of a variable. However I am getting errors with my code. Here is my code.

The errors get are:
1084: Syntax error: expecting identifier before if.
1084: Syntax error: expecting rightbrace before leftbrace.
I have a dynamic text box. It has x, y width, and height all set. I have scrollbars built for it. They work great. Now, I just need those scrollbars to be conditional. And it's not so obvious to me how to do that. If I have a fixed height already set, I can't just say if the height is greater than this. If I set the autoSize then it goes with the autosize regardless of what I do.
View 1 Repliesok in theory this sounds brutally easy. Just can't make it fire. On my stage I have an atm movieclip called "atm". In it I have 8 buttons l1-l4 and r1-r4. I add and remove functions based upon what is on the screen. So on the third screen I want when I hit l1 for a dynamic text box to display "20". So my thought is, place the dynamic textbox where I need it, create the instance name, and where it needs to come up use this line of code:

well the box remains blank. I've posted all my code if it makes things easier to understand.

In my txt file there are some "&" and "+" characters that need to be displayed. So I URL encoded these characters. "&" becomes %26 and "+" becomes %2b. Strange thing is: it works perfect for the "+", but the "&" won't show nowhere...

I am trying to get a text file to display in a dynamic scrolling textbox as HTML. What do I need to put in my code so that the textbox displays it correctly and leaves out the HTML tags?

This is about a self assessment quiz.There will be four options and each one has a scale from1-5 i.e., "option a" has 1mark, "option b" has 2marks,"option c" has 3 marks, "option d" has 4marks and "option e" has 5 marks and we count the answered and we display the score for example if there are 20 question in it if they answered "option e" 5 times the score will be 25 and option d 5 times the score will be 20, and if "option c" for 5 times the score will be 15,and "option b" for 3 times the score will be 6 and "option a" two times the score will be 2, and we add up all the score and display in a dynamic text field called "score" and the total score is 68.
And I have another dynamic text field called "tsc" where I have to display the tags like excellent , good, better ......etc. Till now every thing is fine but I am unable to compare them it is displaying excellent even if i get 10 marks. If the score is greater than 55 "tsc" should display Excellent, if the score is greater than 41 or less than 55 "tsc" should display Best, if the score is greater than 26 or less than 40 "tsc" should display Better,if the score is none of the above "tsc" should display Poor.

View 4 RepliesI have a dynamic text box (called navgxchangeBox below) that is being fed by an xml file.Depending on the output (weather positive or negetive) I'd like the text to display green (for pos) or red (for neg). I know I need to write a if conditional statement but not sure if it is correct. The text is displaying in color, but I don't think the condition loop is executing. Basically I want to define a variable in a movieclip and then display that in a textbox outside of the movieclip. To be a little more specific I want to make a variable be false and then when a movieclip gets to a certain frame the variable is set to be true. Textbox Y is controlled by an up and down button, max 3 numbers.
I have a button that says Calculate, and when pushed, it takes the movie to frame two, where a third textbox Z is present, and i want textbox Z to display textbox X multiplied by Textbox Y
Its almost like a gas pump for your car, petrol is X dollars a litre, then you use Y litres of petrol, so your price (Z) is X multiplied by Y. What would be the code for the multiplication of textbox X and Texbox Y, and then to have textbox Z equal that answer. I am guessing it would be something like

I've been working with Flash for over 3 years, but I can't figure this one out. I've got a body of text, half of which are bulleted points designated by <li></li>. It's loaded into a html-ised dynamic textbox.

It displays fine as is. However, if I make the box selectable, and select any part of the bulleted list, the ENTIRE body of text turns into a giant bulleted list, including the non-bulleted portion at the beginning. I've managed to replicate this bug with Flash 8 and CS3, using a variety of flas made from scratch.

What I'm after is either loading an asp page with variables or connecting to an SQL database in order to pull out some values to display in a flash movie. When we have is a daily food menu, which I want to display in flash using a dynamic text box. Looking around on the internet, I believe that I can either pull it from the SQL database, or load an ASP page and pull the variables from there.

Now I have a keypad where you punch the numbers in, and they display inside a dynamic textbox. I have a clearkey mc that I'd like to have operational. My initial thoughts were to use atm.textfield.text == "" that way it'd clear it. Nope, no luck. Any ideas on how to reset a dynamic textbox to blank?
View 6 RepliesFor my problem, i using 5 random generated number and display it in a dynamic textbox, then i computed the 5 number using a formula and put the result in another dynamic textbox (name it as text_string). Then i create a button that function as to read the value in the text_string text box, for example, if the number is 5 then gotosomewhere, else terminated. Therefore, no matter what the result is the flash still terminated, it seems that the button unable to read the value in the text_string text box.

I have a dynamic multiline text box txt1(instence Name) which get the data form xml file.
i have other two textboxes instence Name txt2 and txt3 i want that the first line (only first line) show in the txt2 and rest of the contents in txt1 show in the txt3.
I am trying to load data from an XML file to a dynamic textbox but only on a certain condition. I have tried both switch cases and if statements but they do not seem to work. When I play my SWF file WITHOUT using an if statement or switch case and just use:

everything works fine. But when I place an if statement around it (if (day.text == "Sunday") ) then nothing happens at all and no syntax errors occurr either.
OK, I have my php and MySQL working fine. I'm pulling the data. I found how to format the data that is returned in the php as XML. My problem is I can't get my Flash textbox to load the variable from the php file. Like most things, this is probably very easy if you know how.My flash dynamic textbox is given the variable name topTeacher.
