Feb 12, 2010I am working on a department website that needs to be standards compliant (xhtml 1.0 transitional), but embedded flash keeps breaking the validation. We use the <embed> tag because we need to support most major browsers.
We can't use external tools, since the site is managed through a system and the admins don't like us putting extra tools (like JavaScript libraries etc) that could interfere with their template engine.
How widely supported is the object tag? Is it safe to use only the <object> tag and remove the <embed> tag all together?

Oct 24, 2009I seem to have the [Embed] tag working OK for embedding fonts But I want to specify font and font location in an xml file, read in the font location, and pass it into the [Embed] statement. Like this
var xFont = xFormat..navcontrols.font;
//then...
[Embed(source = xFont, fontName = 'myFont', mimeType = 'application/x-font-truetype')]
var csgFont:Class;
The error I get is
'unable to resolve 'xFont' for transcoding
I want to keep this all in AS3 if at all possible. I dont want to use the Flash IDE to create embedded fonts. I would ideally like to minimize the impact of changing a font.

I am moving over to using the Flex based embed metadata tags to import assets into my Flash CS4 IDE based project. This is working very well but I have hit one small problem - how do you now create a pre-loader? I've done the usual google to look for a solution and found many Flex based solutions and tried them all out but they do not appear to work from within a CS4 IDE based project - even when tried out on a web page.

Feb 6, 2008I have created a pie preloader(preloader.zip) which is working fine. Same preloader I am trying to incorporate in a xml based slideshow(slideshow.zip) to show image loading process but some how I got stuck. I am new to flash. Suggestions are welcome.
1. How to solve the problem of preloader2. Is it possible to integrate everything in a movie clip (including AS). I mean no AS on main time line but inside the movie clip. It would be much easier then to to create multiple slideshows by duplicating mc and changing the xml file.

Oct 3, 2011I am writing code to order the tab on multiple tags like "img","Panel","LinkButton",...and pie charts. when I run my flash program, the tab indexing does not work at all. it just works on pie chart and "link button" tags, not on "img","Panel","Group" tags. I also have tried to "enable tab" on those fields , but no help.on the other hand when I disable tab on the pie chart,and link button, still the tab is enabled.

Jul 27, 2010My website allows users to upload photographs which I store on Amazon's S3. I store the original upload as well as an optimized image and a thumbnail. I want to allow users to be able to export all of their original versions when their subscription expires. So I am thinking the following problems arise.Could be a large volume of data (possibly around 10GB)How to manage the download process - eg make sure if it gets interrupted where to start from again, how to verify successful download of files.Should this be done with individual files or try and zip the files and download as one file or a series of smaller zipped files.Are there any tools out there that I can use for this? I have seen Fzip which is an Actionscript library for handling zip files. I have an EC2 instance running that handles file uploads so could use this for downloads also - eg copy files to EC2 from S3, Zip them then download them to user via Flash downloader, use Fzip to uncompress the zip folder to user's hard drive.

The images to load which have the same px dimensions as the mask for the container will keep scaling up for a reason I can�t find in the code. I have been trying to fix this all day without any luck and I am about to go mad here. I am using FCS3 but saving a F8 doc with AS2. Could anyone take a look to the file and tell me what the problem could be?
