ActionScript 2.0 :: Condition Based On System Time?
Oct 4, 2007
I am playing around with the timedate.getHours(); function and I was wondering how I might go about setting up a condition whereby between 3am and 3pm, movieclip1 loads and between 3pm and 3am, movieclip2 loads?
I'm sure it's not that difficult but I'm not sure how to structure the if/else statement or read the hour from the timedate function.
how one might change a site element based on the users computer time? What we are trying to do is change the color of the sky and shade of the buildings in a cityscape scene on a cartoonish style site. If it is 9:00 PM on the site visitor's end, they will see a nighttime colored scene. If it's 7:00 AM, it would be sunrise-ish.
I am doing a simple combobox example. Now my requirement was, i want to differentiate the combobox values with some colors. I dont know how to do this. can you guys pls help me out on this. Suppose for ex: if my combobox data value exceeds 200 i want to display the items in "red" else i want to display in "green".
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <!-- Simple example to demonstrate the Halo ComboBox control. --> <s:Application xmlns:fx="http://ns.adobe.com/mxml/2009"
I added in my application universal time, and I gave start and stop time. The process is going smoothly, but if I change my system (local) time, the entire time will be changed. Is there any solution to solve this problem?
I want to make it so that every five seconds an enemy is in a hitTest with an object the object loses 5 points. I need to know if theres any condition so that I can do an.[code]
What method/property (and in what class/library) returns/contains the time (in milliseconds) either the computer has been running or the swf file has been running. I remember that I used some property/method for this before, but I just can't remember what it was..

use Flex which has a great constraint based layout system architecture by default, but in Flash CS3 there is no built in way to do this. To create intelligently resizing layouts, you have to manually resize each element on a stage resize event. This can create obscene amounts of code really fast, especially if you start to work in simple arithmetic to avoid hard coding in positions, such as "stageWidth-obj.x-obj.width" etc.
Is there any code library to do this for you built in AS3? I basically want something like this:
ActionScript Code: var layout = new Layout(); layout.header_mc = 'left|right|top'; layout.left_mc = 'left|top|bottom';
I currently have a system that takes the users order and then sends the data to a php file where the details are then emailed to the shop admin. I accomplish this by using...
ActionScript Code: //Retreive and pass the information to a PHP page var variables:URLVariables = new URLVariables(); variables.vItemCode=menu4dynamictext.text; variables.vBaseColor=basecolorpickertext.text; var request:URLRequest=new URLRequest("sendmail.php"); [Code] .....
However I need to change this system so that rather than each order being sent automatically, the details are stored in an array so that a cart system can be produced somehow! It doesn't need to be overly secure, the system simply needs to email colour details etc to the admin.
I'd like to create a rating and comments system to the video site I'm working on. Basically the user will rate the video (stars or thumbs up) from 1-5, have the new rating process and improve or lower the video rating automatically. For the comments the user will be able to write and send the comment and then either have it posted automatically with the option for the site moderator to erase any offensive comment or have it sent to a database for approval first and then post it by the site moderator. I assume I need a php form and action script code?
I am starting to work out an early test of the match system. I know this is very basic, but I can't get the matching to work. Only using two cards and want the match based upon frame labels in each mc.
card1.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, card1buttonpress); card2.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, card2buttonpress); function card1buttonpress(e:MouseEvent):void { card1.gotoAndStop("flip"); if (card1.currentLabel == "flip" && card2.currentLabel == "flip"){ [Code] .....
We have an "application" consisting of a large number of PDF files that link to each other.
Some of the PDF files have links that must be a web URL when running on a PC (or a Mac) but need to open a specific application when running on an iPad.
When not on the iPad, the links look like "http://10.85.1.102".
When on the iPad, they look like "netcam4://2" - which opens the NetCam4 application with camera 2 selected.
NOTE: this is already working but we have to create two versions of the PDF and it would be much better to have only one.
Is there a way using JavaScript (or ActionScript or whatever) for the PDF to determine in which OS it is being displayed and modify the link appropriately?
We don't care if this decision is made when loading the PDF or when the link is clicked.
By the way, so far we have found that GoodReader on the iPad is the only PDF viewer that will properly follow links - including those to the NetCam4 app.
But it doesn't work. I can't seem to change the value of "poop" with code. It only accepts a value that I place, ex. var poop = 2, but that doesn't let me change it.
Tasked with creating a countdown timer which I've done before but never using the user's system clock. Does anyone know if its possoble to access the system time from within flash?
I have a REGISTERED Flash media server version with update 1 and when i try to start it I have this error in the evnet log : "FMS has detected system time is going backwards;shutting down server" i try to reinstall it, the system clock is ok
I want to calculate the number of ms elapsed between 2 time points for measuring reaction time. The system clock change (e.g. from auto sync) messed up the calculation.The function flash.utils.getTimer is supposed to return the number of milliseconds that have elapsed since the Flash runtime virtual machine for ActionScript 3.0 (AVM2) started. This number of milliseconds is not affected by system clock change on Windows, but this is not true on Mac. The Date class is affected by system clock change on Windows or Mac.Is there any other timing function that returns time which is not affected by system clock change on Mac?
I'm having a lot of trouble getting my AS3 code to work. I have made a digital clock that grabs the system's time and I want to be able to control the speed of the time by using a slider and a button to reset the time back to the system's clock. Any idea how I go about doing this? I figure I need to grab the system's time and then stop it and create my own clock by increasing the seconds by 1.
I have downloaded a Countdown SWF file from the Internet. It is working fine with the Computers which have Internet Connection. But not working without Internet connection because of the following line of code in XML file:When I opened the webpage using the above code, it shows time in a typical digits:Monday, October 18, 2010 9:12:52 PM in my System -shows in Web browser like : time=1287425579How to modify the code so that I can use my System time to work with Countdown without Internet ConnectionThe following is the path from where I have downloaded the Countdown file:[URL]
I'm writing a card game in ActionScript 3. Each card is represented by an instance of a class extending movieclip exported from Flash CS4 that contains the card graphics and a flip animation. When I want to flip a card I call gotoAndPlay on this movieclip.When the frame rate slows down all animations take longer to finish. It seems Flash will by default animate movieclips in a way that makes sure all frames in the clip will be drawn. Therefor, when the program frame rate goes below the frame rate of the clip, the animation will be played at a slower pace.I would like to have an animation always play at the same speed and as a consequence always be shown on the screen for the same amount of time. If the frame rate is too slow to show all frames, frames are dropped. Is is possible to tell Flash to animate in this way?
I am using Flash MX 2004 and would like to display the system date/time. The problem I am encountering is when trying to use a pixel font to display it with. Is this possible??? Or can you use only standard (safe) fonts i.e. Arial, sans-serif etc.
I need to make an edit to a flash projector that was built some time ago that changes what is playing based on the time of day. It is used to advertise breakfast or lunch/dinner for a restaurant. Previously we had set it up so that the time change happened at 5 in the morning and 10 in the morning. The code is below. The restaurant wants to change the time switch to be on the half hour now.[code]
I am sending a request to a server. If i didn't get a response i need to send a request once again after 3sec. Like this i have to check for 3 times. If 3 rd time also it fails i need to terminate the request by prompting a msg to customer.
How to create some action script that will display either an image or a SWF based on the time of day ie. Day and Night and the seasons ie. Winter, Summer, Spring, Fall.
I know it has something to do with creating a file that is .as and making sure you have the correct class Id. Looked at a few tutorials on creating calenders and image galleries but can not figure out how to combine the two to just show the image or SWF.
Is there a way to load a MC based on an internal clock (or if that's too complicated, a digital clock based on the Digital Clock tutorial)? I also read up on the Loading Random MC tutorial, which is helpful but rather than it being random is there a way to set it so that the MC loads, for instance, everyday at noon? And it would keep this MC generated for 24 hrs until the next one that loads 24 hrs later.
I have a movie clip and i would like to display its duration in minutes and seconds.urrently I am displaying the frames so it shows "frame 320 of 500" etc.I would like to figure out how many frames in the movie clip and convert it to time so in the end it will display: 1:23 / 3:00
I have a flash file of a snowman doing various activities. He's doing 7 different things (all individual movie clips) and I place each of the movie clips on the first 7 frames, I placed a stop action on each one.Here is the code I used
var myDate = new Date(); var localHours = this.myDate.getHours(); if (this.localHours>=6 || this.localHours<=18)
