ActionScript 3.0 :: How To Change ComboBox Color

Jan 8, 2010

I am currently using colorTransform to color a ComboBox:

//_cb is the combo box
setColor(_cb, t_uintBgColor); //t_uintBgColor is a hexadecimal, ie. 0xFF0000
setColor(_cb.dropdown, t_uintBgColor, -150);

[Code]....

This works, and the combo box and its drop down get tinted.....EXCEPT when t_uintBgColor is white - 0xFFFFFF. What happens then is the combo box is just its default gray color.

And what is the best solution for coloring the background of a ComboBox?

ActionScript 2.0 :: Get The Border That's Around The Main Part Of The Combobox To Go Away Or Change Color

Feb 13, 2006

I have tried changing all the styles associated with the combobox (borderColor, etc), and set borderStyle to none (which made the border go away around the dropdown menu) but I can't for the life of me get the border that's around the main part of the combobox to go away or change color. I skinned the button to get it to be red, but I just can't figure out how to change that last detail.

public function myStyleFunc(data:Object, col:AdvancedDataGridColumn):Object
{
if (data["status"] == "PRICING")
return {color:0xFF0000 , fontWeight:"bold" , backgroundColor:0xFF0000};

However the background color does not change.

I have heard on the grape vine that I may need to override some methods to enable the background color property.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Combobox Values To Another Keyframe?

Aug 14, 2010

I have dragged a combobox component on the 2nd keyframe in the main timeline, and named the labels in the dataprovider parameters. I now need to display the results of the selected item in a text field on the next keyframe.

combobox instance name is cb2
frame 2 has instance name movie1
frame 3 has instance name movie1Tickets
text field has instance name movie1Time

I don't have a problem if I put the code in frame 2 (where the combobox is):

cb2.addEventListener(Event.CHANGE, myHandler);
function myHandler(evt:Event):void {
movie1Time.text = cb2.selectedItem.label;
}

However if I use the code in frame 3 I get an "undefined property" error.I understand why this happens, since the combobox is not on frame 3, but have tried this with other components and even a simple text input box on both frames, and can't get anything to hold the value from one keyframe to another. it doesn't have to be a combobox, as long as I can get the selected info from one screen to another.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Retrieve Node Values From Combobox?

Oct 5, 2009

I have populated a comboBox dynamilcally from an xml file. When a user selects an item from the comboBox, I want to search the XML nodes and retrieve an attribute of that node.At the moment I had this working correctly by storing the value in a _global variable and using the info in a function.

Code:
// Create Listener Object.
var cbListener:Object = new Object();
Assign function to Listener Object.[code].....

This technique won't suffice as we are changing languages around.How would I use eventObj to target the desired node value?

ActionScript 2.0 :: V2 ComboBox: Default Value Based On SelectedItem Not SelectedIndex?

Mar 16, 2005

Ok I can't find any doco on this and it's driving me crazy. Anyone know how you specify the default value for the V2 ComboBox component based on the selectedItem when you don't know the selectedIndex? Here's my scenario:

I have a hardcoded combobox called "dd_names" with 50 names in it. I'm returning a dataset into Flash via a SQL query, and onload I need the dd_names dropdown to default to the value of the name returned in the dataset. So if the query returns "Tom" I need the dropdown to default to "Tom."

I tried setting dd_names.selectedItem = "Tom" and dd_names.value = "Tom" and these don't work. The ComboBox just defaults to the first item in the list.However, if I use the selectedIndex property and set dd_names.selectedIndex = 3, the ComboxBox doesn't default to the first item in the list but shows the appropriate item. This doesn't help because I don't know the selectedIndex being returned from the query - I only know the selectedItem. Anyone know how to do this??

Flex :: ComboBox In DataGrid Loses Values When Scroll Horizontally

Dec 14, 2009

I have a very strange problem in a Flex 3.4 Datagrid. One of the columns is a ComboBox - I have my own custom renderer for the ComboBox. I use it to select my data and then make a "save" to the db. Upon return the comboBox loses its value. Even stranger is that when I scroll the datagrid area to the left (by moving scrollbar right) - the values in the ComboBox change!! When I scroll the datagrid right (by moving the scrollbar left) - the values in the ComboBox don't change.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Populate A Combobox From A .php File And Return The Values Of The Selection?

Aug 16, 2004

I trying to populate a combobox from a .php file and return the values of the selection. I have the .php set up to where it outputs something like

&artists=anartist,anartist2,anartist3, etc..they have names..I already have the combobox set up to where it displays

anartist
anartist2
anartist3

after you click the dropdown arrow..How would I get it to return a the numerical value for the artist (ex: anartist would be "0" since it is first in the list) and put it into a variable so that when it is selected it could be placed into an eval() function to create a variable such as "albumcover0" to be loaded through a function. I have been reading tutorials for hours to no avail.I want a single function to produce the number from the selected artist and place it into a variable, then go through all of the loadImage(for the "album image") etc functions..they will be functions that I have made already previously and call all of them with the number in the called fuctions (ex: loadImage(0)) where "0" is the number derived from the variable out of the combo box.Ive tried tons of tutorials, I think that it has something to do with me using flash mx 2004, and as2 turned on.
