ActionScript 3.0 :: Go To "else" Condition As Soon As Either One Of Those Initial 4 Values Returns False?
Nov 23, 2010
I am trying to write my code as efficient as possible and I have a scenario
[code]...
Now this piece of code never reaches the else condition. I want it to go to "else" condition as soon as either one of those initial 4 values returns false.
Which operator would do the job or am I missing something else entirely?
I have a load file and a write to file method. We all know what they do. How ever load always returns true and write always returns false....Right there you know somethings wrong. Because The forums have an issue with me posting code...I posted it here: [URL] Based on this code what is the issue here? why is write always returning false and why is load always returning true? (even for files that do not exist). My understanding is that if flash cannot find the file it should write to it will create it and if it cant load said file, then that method should return false.
When I trace the next highest depth at the initial frame of my SWF it returns 9877. Is this due to the way I setup the objects and layers through authoring? The reason I ask is that this is somehow interfering with my attachMovie and unloadMovie (unloadMovie stops working after another 6 extra depths).
I'm triyng to get the browsers back-button to work with my flash site. The general principle is this:There is an index.html page containing an (not yet) hidden Iframe and the flash movie.The Iframe contains page A, which starts with JavaScript calling a BACK-function on the index-page.The BACK-function triggers an AS-function in the flash-movie that activates its own back-button, and then changes the URL of the Iframe to Page B. This causes a new History to be added to the browser.The flash movie now contains 5 frames (labeled in the middle of the stage) and two navigation buttons: back (Terug) and forward (Verder). Those buttons do exactly what you'd expect them to do (prevFrame and nextFrame).On a PC (IE) this seems to work pretty well. But on a mac nothing seems to work propperly.Here's the code I have on the first frame.
I have a movieclip I drawn, called Map. It has a child with the name Wall. I'm trying to make a function that returns a 2d tile array of if there is something in that tile or not, for pathfinding. The problem is, levelGrid is entirely false. I'm not sure what I am doing wrong. I have filled the whole movieclip (Wall) with bright red, and yes it still returns false. The x and y of both Map and Wall is 0, so I don't think there should be issues with hitTestPoint accepting global x / y.
Now I understand that this is returned because the upload function returned a false, but why is it returning this false. Is this because the URLRequest is wrong or the uplaod file is wrong or something else? I've tried looking all over the web for another case and it doesn't give me one.
I am doing a simple combobox example. Now my requirement was, i want to differentiate the combobox values with some colors. I dont know how to do this. can you guys pls help me out on this. Suppose for ex: if my combobox data value exceeds 200 i want to display the items in "red" else i want to display in "green".
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <!-- Simple example to demonstrate the Halo ComboBox control. --> <s:Application xmlns:fx="http://ns.adobe.com/mxml/2009"
Environment: Flex/As3/Cairgorm/composite component.I have two comboboxes and two datagrids such that the selection of combobox 1, inserts data into combobox two and the fist datagrid.The selection of combobox 2 inserts data into datagrid 2.I have setup the change event so that the user selection on each of the combo boxes do the right thing. The problem is that on the initial load of the comboboxes, the change event does not fire and subsequent synchronization data loading does not happen.Is there an event for getting the itemselected (1st item) after the combobox is initialized?
I have an array that has a lot of values including a lot of 'false' values.Is there any way of removing the 'false' values that is faster than this[code]...
I'm just trying to make a sprite follow the last letter of a TextField with the getCharBoundaries() function. It works fine when the DisplayObject that contains the TextField has no 3d transformations on it. But when I rotate it in 3D, returned values are wrong and it doesn't work anymore.I don't know anything about the matrix objects and all those transformation functions but I guess there is a way to get the correct value by using one of those matrices.I tried to use some matrices and played with some of their values but didn't get any luck.
I'm doing some calculation with numbers and would like to only print an integer (the number without the decimals).I thought that the toFixed() method of the Number class would do the trick, and it does most of the time. But quite frequently strange values are returned. Here are 2 examples:
Number(0.002).toFixed(0) returns "0." while Number(1.002).toFixed(0) returns "1" (without the period) Once in a while, Number(0.002).toFixed(0) returns "1"
Needless to say that's not the expected behaviour. Am I not using this method correctly?
*edit: I know I just have to do int(0.002) to get 0 but I'd like to understand that strange behaviour.

I'm having with a menu navigation system. I'm using Flash MX. I have created a menu system for the site I'm building ([URL]) where one of the buttons "Choose photographer" drops down a list of names. All the other buttons just jump to another page. The drop down is currently using tweens also the logo moves to the left as the dropdown appears and returns when the dropdown returns. All working fine apart from its a bit jerky.
It's I just wanted to get away from tweening and use action scripts instead, as I'm a newbie to all things Flash I trawled the net for tutorials and examples so that I could cobble together the exact same effect. I have managed to get the drop down work and return using the action script and it does seem smoother and works slightly better. But can I get the logo to move to the left and back in time with the drop down...no.
I am trying to display database details in a Flex datagrid and connected using HTTP Service. It was able to display details without any issue when I was working in the FlashBuilder 4.5, however, I deployed the bin-debug part in the Tomcat webserver to access it globally.
I am experiencing this error message when I am trying to access the swf file "HTTP request error Error: [IOErrorEvent type="ioError" bubbles=false cancelable=false eventPhase=2 text="Error #2032"]. URL: http://localhost:8084/UA/details.jsp"
I tried to create the crossdomain.xml file and deployed in the root directory but still experiencing the same error.Here is my crossdomain.xml :
<?xml version="1.0"?> <!DOCTYPE cross-domain-policy SYSTEM "http://www.macromedia.com/xml/dtds/cross-domain-policy.dtd"> <cross-domain-policy>[code].....

I can't seem to find a way to get more than the initial set of 4 stage3Ds provided by flash. I have tried instantiating a new one using it's constructor and then adding it to the stage by simply pushing it to the list stage.stage3Ds.push(new Stage3D());
but this doesn't seem to be working as my eventListener for the Event.CONTEXT3D_CREATE is never called (it is if I use one of the default Stage3Ds. workaround or a way to accomplish this?
I have developed some code whereby the positions of objects on the screen are represented by two values and I store all this data in three arrays like so:
Code: objectName = new Array('flower','boxy','fleawhale','vampirefish','littlefishies'); initialXoffset = new Array('24','83','14','50','40'); initialYoffset = new Array('100,-170','10,50','20,100','50','-200');
i have a comboBox that has a defined fontSize for the choices inside which is 10, (myComboBox.fontSize = 10. How can i change the initial value, label I'm guessing, to be a fontSize of 10 as well?
I'm using FLVPlayback to display a flv in a swf embedded in html. Autoplay = false, wmode = transparent / windowless. I've got it working (not yet set up the way I'd like, but that's another issue), but the way the flv displays when the page loads is a problem. The controls skin is clearly visible, but the movie frame displays as a white box on a white page, barely visible except for a faint outline.
I guess the white screen simply represents the first frame of the flv. Ideally I'd like to see either a black box or the first frame with meaningful content. Is there any way (say with ActionScript) to advance and stop the flv to a particular frame? Or is there some other way to not see a white box here?
See attached screen grab detail. If it helps, here's my html.
I would like to add a code that would add an initial call to the function myFunction, but because it is listening for a MouseEvent, it has to wait until a MouseEvent happens (CLICK)
I thought that I could add a parameter to a function call like this:
Code: myFunction(e:Event, buttons[0]); but that did not work.
If I have a textfield instanciated from the document class with a base .string set as for example "4444" and BEFORE adding it to stage, I change the .string value to say "1234", when I test the swf, I can see the 4444 for a very short time changing for the 1234.I didn't change the value after adding to stage so I don't get why the display number is changed after being added to display.How to force it to add to stage (display itself) only once the initial changes to his properties are done?
I've set-up a menu using the actionscript below tracking bt up / down states (credit - thanx Barn:[URL]..
But I'd like to adapt the script to have the home button (mvcBtn0) initially set by default to the down state - and then revert to the up state as soon as another button is pressed.
I've tried various adaptions sending the clip to down state on load and then the up state once another button is clicked - but none are working.
...How do you do this? I'm gunning for <65 kb and need to figure out if my published swf will meet this goal. Is there a window or something (maybe a 3rd party tool) to let me know what the initial download size of my swf is?
I have a few inputFields on the stage and I would like to give them an initial value, I know I can put that value directly to the inputField the problem is that this value may change depending on some conditions. how to give an initial value to a inputTextField?
Okay maybe its because I've been working on this all day and can't think straight any longer but this seems like it should be really obvious and I'm getting frustrated that I can't think of how to do it.I have a movie clip sitting just off stage. When the file is first launched I want to record the x position of this movie clip in a variables, say startX. When a button is pressed (and there are several of these) I am using Voetsoejba's easing code (brilliant) twice, once to move an MC just in the x direction (easeX):(on the main timeline, whre movetxt and content are the two MCs)
I've gotten these sliders to work but can't get the output values to add up. For instance, depending on the values for slider 1, 2 and 3, I need the total to show up in a separate text box. I keep getting a NaN message in the text box.Here's the code I have so far:
