If the persons name is only 3 letters I want the font size to be 120 but based on the amount of characters, I would like to shrink the font size in order to fit the whole name inside the text field. I was playing with autosize, but couldn't get it to work.

I have a separate html page that does this with a php script,reating that php file which is just a form that allows users to enter a passcode that I provide them which will then simply link them to an external html page. Since I don't know about php, I am thinking a possible work around would be to have a text input box which would allow a user to enter (passwordA) then click Submit to load (pageX.hmtl) or they could enter (passwordB) and Submit would load (pageY.html)

e.g...
0 - 10kb/ps - 1st MC
11 - 30kb/ps - 2nd MC
31 - 50kb/ps - 3rd MC
50+ - 4th MC
My idea is to have like a glass of water... and for the 1st MC the water filling it up is only a drip... and then 2nd MC is a slow stream of water etc etc and then final MC is water gushing in filling the cup up faster until it's full...
I think this might be a bit hard for me... as i can't even make a preloader... everytime i try the SWF file just stays blank until it's fully loaded... haha... but i'll read tutorials and stuff... i'm rather basic with Flash and just learn what i need to learn as i get to it... I also need the transition between each change (say from 1-10kbps - 51+) to be smooth rather than just having it going from a drip to gushing water... but i think i'll just have to make animations for each and then IF statements to deal with that issue..

The sliders provide values from 1 to 10. The flash movie then generates a gallery based on those provided weights. The user may want more gadgets than cars or all cars or more cars than gadgets etc. Im a tad lost as to where i should start here...XML? MYSQL? should i start swatting up on AS3?
View 13 RepliesI'm trying to create a form that based on the users input would determine how many forms to generate dynamically. I have a base state with a combo box that contains 1-4. Bases on the users selection I would like to have the next state generate the number of forms. So if you user selects 2 and click next - 2 copies of the form would be display.
I'm just wondering if this is possible how i would go about doing this or if any one knows of any examples?
I have an image on my frame. (a circle). I need this circle to blink on the screen based on user's input. The circle display time and the hide time should be input in a input text box in the beginning. Also this has to blink for "x" number of user defined cycles. I know how to control the delay between blinks but I cannot control the amount of time the circle stays on screen.

How do i get the font to change when the user types encode in the Input box then presses enter and then it changes the font in the Output box (which is dynamic) and also embed the font in the output box. So when they type inteh input box the font changes in the Output box.

View 0 RepliesI want to add an animated .gif file to my movie. So I created a new symbol and then imported the .gif file to the stage. This created the symbol containing the animated .gif.I dragged the symbol onto the scene where I want it. However, the animation seems to play at a different speed (fps) than normal. So I changed the fps of the symbol (at bottom of Timeline where it says "fps"). But for some reason this changes the fps of the rest of the entire movie.

I have a movie clip on my scene which has a speed applied to it making it move across the screen. This is duplicated when it reaches the other end of the screen.On my scene I have some action script which is acting as a timer. After a set time I want it to increase the speed of the movie clips, making the game become "harder". I seem to be able to manipulate the alpha of my movie clips but can't seem to trigger the speed increase.If i use a setInterval it seems to trigger the speed increase but it does it each time the movie clip is duplicated (so the delay resets, it does not change once and apply throughout)However, where I am changing the alpha I cannot seem to change the speed.

I'm working on a Curling game and have a broom moving back and forth based on the mouseX position. Although I thought it would be as simple as recording the current broom position vs. the previous broom position that's not the case. This is because when you move back and forth the current and last postion may be at the very same point, like the center of the screen, depending on when exactly the mouse position is recorded. So, moving the mouse very slowly may give the same result and moving the mouse super fast where the x coordinate just happens to be recorded at or near the same point.
I tried using both an enterFrame event and a timer. Both yielded essentially the same results. I can't think of a way around this off the top of my head. Is there another way to record how fast the user is moving the mouse back and forth?

View 2 RepliesI've been searching for quite a while now on a few different sites for information on testing the cpu speed of users computers. I've done this search before about a month ago and remember fidning something about this. Problem is, now I can't seem to find anything. The reason I need to know is because I have an MC on my stage which is using actionscript to animate but on older computers with slow cpu's all the animation slows down terribly. I would like to be able to test cpu speed and redirect to a different page based on cpu speed.

There is an element which could probably be best related to a clock. There would be 360 points around the "clock", one for each degree. So, esentially the full rotation would be 360 frames long.
There is an input text box where a user can input a number 1 - 50. This number indicates how fast the "clock" rotation runs through the 360 frames. An input of 1 would mean it would take 1 minute for a complete rotation. An input of 50 would mean it would rotate 50 times a minute. So, the input equals rotations per minute.
I've tried a few ideas including setInterval, if/else statments, extra frames in the animation, etc but still can't quite get my head around a good solution.
I know someone out there can tackle this one pretty easy, but unfortunately my AS2 skills aren't incredible by any stretch of the imagination.
We have a custom flash video player. It uses streaming over a hosted FMS $50/month account.Some users are complaining that the video doesn't play at all.ith one of these users, we had them go to a speed test website and it was determined that they had a very slow connection which we are assuming is what is causing them to not be able view the video.So before we try to load the video we want to determine their connection speed. Then if they have a good enough connection we will play the video and if not then we will do something else like play a lower quality video or simply display a message and not play a video at all.
