Flex :: Dynamically Add Multiple Instances Of A Form Based On User Input?

Mar 4, 2010

I'm trying to create a form that based on the users input would determine how many forms to generate dynamically. I have a base state with a combo box that contains 1-4. Bases on the users selection I would like to have the next state generate the number of forms. So if you user selects 2 and click next - 2 copies of the form would be display.

I'm just wondering if this is possible how i would go about doing this or if any one knows of any examples?

I have a textfield that is filled by a querystring.

myTextfield.text=myQueryStrings.dName.toUpperCase();

If the persons name is only 3 letters I want the font size to be 120 but based on the amount of characters, I would like to shrink the font size in order to fit the whole name inside the text field.   I was playing with autosize, but couldn't get it to work.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Possible To Change Submit Button's URL Link Based On User Input?

Mar 30, 2010

I have a separate html page that does this with a php script, reating that php file which is just a form that allows users to enter a passcode that I provide them which will then simply link them to an external html page. Since I don't know about php, I am thinking a possible work around would be to have a text input box which would allow a user to enter (passwordA) then click Submit to load (pageX.hmtl) or they could enter (passwordB) and Submit would load (pageY.html)

ActionScript 2.0 :: Prevent User From Opening Multiple Instances On The Same Computer?

Jun 28, 2009

On the site [URL] there is a .swf that prevents users from opening multiple instances of the site at the same time on the same computer. If you open the site, and try to open it a second time in another window, it won't load. You can't open the site again until the first window is closed. How did they implement this?

From my analysis it is NOT:

1. Cookies - The block still takes place if you try opening it in IE and also try opening it in Firefox simultaneously.

2. Flash Cookies - The block still takes place if I disable flash cookies.

3. IP Based Block - You are not blocked if you open the site on two separate computers with the same outbound IP address. From my analysis, their server does not assist in the block at all.

It seems as if their .swf is creating some kind of global system-wide object that can be detected in other instances of the application on the same machine. How did they implement this?

ActionScript 3.0 :: TextInput - Dynamically Update Height Based On Input?

Feb 11, 2009

I'm trying to build a text input field with a fixed width, multiline. So when you type and the input is more than the available space, the field increases in height... similar behavior to blogs and other html forms recently.

I was hoping there was some easy method or property to make this change, but if not, then does the text input throw some event when the text exceeds the width?

Only problem is I want to mask all 6 of these instances via setMask so they are restricted to one area but can't seem to figure out how to do that.If that's not possible I would also love to know if there is a way to do collision testing with them and then I could draw a border around the area I want them to stay in and have them bounce around that (I would actually prefer this)

ActionScript 2.0 :: Dynamically Create Multiple Instances Of A Movieclip?

Jan 11, 2008

I'm modifying a flash slideshow (actually the one from kirupa.com) and among other things, I'm trying to get it to generate small LEDs depending on the number of images the script finds in the xml file. I intend to make them light up depending on the image currently up (i.e. image #5 lights up led #5) and allow users to click on the LEDs to jump around between images.

The problem I'm having now is that I can't get the file to generate more than one LED at a time. In fact, it seems to only generate the last LED needed and places it in the final LED position. My only real guess at this point is either I'm not indicating a new depth properly, or I'm creating the new movieclip over and over again but not actually creating a duplicate of it, or something like that.[code]...

ActionScript 3.0 :: Dynamically Adding And Removing Multiple Instances Of Same MCs After Certain Time

Dec 14, 2009

After a little break in AS3 I'm back... and facing a problem. For a school project I'm trying to make a side scroller game in which the player automatically moves right and has to avoid branches.Basically, depending on how well you do your speed (var) gets updated. After certain 'distance' (fake of course, as the player stays centered) I would like a n instance of Branch_MC to appear. Also, when that instance's x property reaches -20 I would like it removed.I'd need approximately 135 branches so creating variables isn't really an option.

I've managed to actually create TextFields based on the array.length - however afterwards I dont know how to reference them individually, to lets say re-position x, y for array[1]. I've tried saving the Textfields in another array by .push method, but can't seem to reference them correctly.

//Create textfields based on data in Array - in this case 3 textfields
var textArray:Array = new Array('First TextField','TextField Two','Anything, really');

Actionscript 3 :: Simplest Handling Of NaN In Bound Form Input In Flex?

Jan 24, 2011

How can I cause numbers with no value to show up blank instead of NaN on forms?Let's say I have a User class with an optional weight (kgs) value, of type Number. If I edit a User in Flex I get the user object from the server and bind weightInput.text to user.weight. If weight is null on the server it will be translated to NaN in Flex, and then the value of weight in the edit form showes up as NaN. That is really inconvenient, as I would like it to just be blank if it has no value.

Flex :: Multiple Instances Of A TitleWindow Opened

Sep 27, 2011

My Flex application is one consisting of several "subapps". Basically, the main application area is an ApplicationControlBar with buttons for each of the subapps. The rest of the area is a canvas where the subapps are displayed.Only one subapp is visible at a time. When switching between subapps, we do a canvas.removeAllChildren(), then canvas.addChild(subAppSwitchedTo).It's essentially a manual implementation of a ViewStack (the pros and cons of which are not the topic of this, so refrain from commenting on this). In one of my subapps (let's say subapp "A"), I have a search function where results are displayed in a TitleWindow that gets popped up. Workflow is like enter search criteria, click search button, TitleWindow pops up with results (multiple selection datagrid), choose desired result(s), click OK, popup goes away (PopUpManager.removePopUp), and continue working. This all works fine. The problem is if I switch to a different subapp (say "B" -- where A gets removeAllChildren()'d and B gets added), then switch back to A and search again, when the results TitleWindow pops open, there will be TWO stacked on top of each other. If I continue to navigate away and back to A, every time I search, there will be an additional popup in the "stack" of popups (one for each time A gets addChild()'d).

I'm not sure what to do about it and it's causing a serious usability bug in my application. It's like I somehow need to flush the PopUpManager or something (even though I'm correctly calling removePopUp() to remove the TitleWindow).[code]

Flex :: Control Multiple Instances Of Movieclips In A Loaded Swf At Once?

Mar 2, 2011

I am loading an swf created in flash professional cs5 via the loader class into a flex 4.1 application. The flash file contains multiple movieclips that are exported for actionscript and those movieclips exist in many instances throughout the movie.

Iterating through everything, comparing class types seems to be the most easy but also the most redundant way to solve this. Is there any way of using the class name as a kind of global selector to access the clips?

I could also make the sub-clips in the flash listen for an event on which they perform an action, but I am not really sure what might be best.
