View 1 Repliesokay, i'm trying to create a full website myself, and inside my main scene movie, i have a movie clip for the content.. inside THAT clip on a frame for the links, i have another movie clip that has all the link buttons embedded... i've got those buttons set up so they stagger fade in as an effect... my problem is, they just keep repeating, and i want the fade in effect to stop after the first time. i've got a stop keyframe after the tween of every button motion, but i dont know the correct code for the movie/button clip itself to play once and then stop.. this is what i have right now, as an action on the movie clip with the buttons inside it:

I messed up some the timing in some parts where there needs to be audio, and I don't want to go to the very back of the timeline and make all my frame sequences fit the audio that way. I want to select all the clips from one point on, drag them back until the audio fits, and then go to the next part the audio doest fit and do the same. Unfortunately, I've spent at least 20-30 minutes googling and trying different things in Flash that haven't worked.
How can I select all the clips on the timeline before a certain point so that I can drag them all back a few seconds? (Without having to shift click all my clips, obviously).
have two sets of movie clips. I'm communicating to these movie clips with another program via binary sockets. For the first set of movie clips: when it recieves its instance name, and a second number (InstanceName+#) from the socket, the named movie clip will jump to the frame corresponding with that number. for ex: if the incoming data from the socket is (mc7+3), then movieclip 7 will jump to frame 3.
For the second set of movie clips: when it recieves its instance name, and a second number (InstanceName+#) from the socket, the named movie clip will move location across the screen, by the y coordinate moving to the # given by the socket...thats a little confusing. for ex: if the incoming data from the socket is (mc4+500), then movieclip 4 will move so that it's y coordinate is at 500.

i got rid of some errors. the first part is working where the movie clips jump to the frame they are told to so no errors there. but when i try to move the movie clips in reference to the FADER array, (along the y axis) nothing happens. (look at bold part of code)
theres also another method i'm willing to approach but i'm not sure how to go about it. rahter than using the FADER array, I would rewrite the code for each individual movie clip, so that it says "if incomign data names a movie clip and gives a number, change the named movie clip's y coordinate to the incoming number"
I just finished animating something, but I don't like how large it is, and I want to resize it. However when I select the objects to move them, it only selects the current key frame that I'm on for those objects, so moving it only affects that keyframe. How can I select all of my keyframes so I can make them all uniform?

I have a movie with 5 buttons. The buttons are movie clips with up, over and pressed states. I am trying to load each movie into a movie clip on the stage. All I can get it to do is load 1 movie.I am getting this error.[code]
View 19 Repliesget something to work. What I'm trying to achieve is this: there's a slideshow that automatically changes pictures every 10 secs (I've used a kirupa tutorial to achieve this). The pictures are loaded from an xml file, which also contains captions for the pictures. What I would like to do is to have the caption fade in and slightly move to the left with each picture change. E.g. picture 1 is displayed, caption 1 fades in, moves to the left and stays there; picture 2 is displayed, caption 2 fades in, moves to the left and stays there, and so on.

Using the easing transitions I simply move the _y of several movie clips. It is ok but their starting positions are always from the top of my stage, even if I fix their positions at the bottom.

I'm trying to create a pseudo OS within flash. It's for a website. Essentially there will be "files" to click that that open up draggable windows, just like a mac/pc/linux etc GUI. For example; there could be files for "about, gallery, info, contact" or whatever else that when clicked would open up scrollable/draggable/closeable windows with the content in them.
I'm having serious problems finding any documentation or tutorials on this, even though I'm pretty sure this kind of thing has been used often. My main hang up right now is draggable scrollpanes. Is it possible to do? I can't seem to figure it out.
I'm really stuck on the draggable scrollpanes I have movie clips in place of the scroll panes right now. I wasn't sure on how to actually open the movie clips with a button press so I just placed the two movie clips off the stage, and when one of the two buttons on the stage is pressed, it moves one of the clips onto the stage (thats a ghetto way of doing it, but I'm not sure on how to do it a better way). The clips are draggable with transparency and levels so whatever your dragging becomes slightly transparent and moves to the top level. Aside from my scrollpane problem, I also have no idea how to get the clips to close or move off the stage...
I have a problem stopping multiple clips. I have created a presentation using flash and I have many movie clips which have sub movie clips inside of them. Ok lets look at one movie clip in detail. Inside one _root movie there are multiple sub movies; each with a different movieclip labels (each movie clip is named with unique labels ie. north, south, east, west, and What I need to do is be able to STOP all these sub movie clips with one stop, and in turn PLAY these same movie clip with a second action.
The only way I know how to stop all these sub movie clips is to target each and every one individually.

I always wanted Flash to emulate After Effects' animation environment after Adobe acquired it from Macromedia,After a bit of struggling and plenty of cussing, I'm finally starting to get used to the new interface and the behavior of the motion editor/new motion tween protocols. That said, I'm still having trouble with a few concepts, namely viewing animated masks inside "3D" movieclips. why you can't preview animation happening inside a movie clip on the stage. Is there any technical reason I'm too blind and/or stupid to notice? Otherwise it seem like something they'd allow to do in all this time!

im having some issues getting the duplicateMovieClip function work correctly. Im trying to create a drag and drop of a duplicate movie clip, so the clip stays in place but also drags as a duplicate clip.
The issue here is, if i use this code:

It works perfectly. The movie duplicates and the duplicate drags. My issue is, im trying to do this within its own movie clip, and it seems when I try using duplicatemovie clip inside of a movie clip the whole thing just breaks. Is there something im not doing right here or do duplicate clips just not work within other movie clips?
some variables are inside of a movie clip, and i can't seem to access them from the main timeline.
View 5 RepliesI've got a scrolling thumbnail movie clip.Inside the movie clip are 5 buttons.I can't get the buttons to work.I know to put the actionscript(2.0) ON the button and not IN the button.The sripting is a simple on press gotoandplay frame# command.yet it won't work.Is there something specific I'm missing when putting buttons inside a movie clip?

Recently I worked in a project using Flex. Its a Photo editing project. I have took a Canvas and take a image in that canvas using the code canvas.addChild(image) . Now i can move the image freely by using moving code. The image move inside the canvas and outside the canvas. I want to move the image/child only inside the canvas not outside. How can i do this?

It works fine except that when the new line is inserted, the cursor moves to the beginning of the textarea. I want it to go to the end.

View 3 RepliesI want to create a menu which is a mc on the mainStage, not inside anything. The menu itself has element inside it, so something like this mainStage»navMenu»navMenuClose. I want the action script on the mainStage, but it does not recognize the button navMenuClose. I want the actionscript on the mainStage because I also want the menu to hide after each function, just for navigation. (The close is incase you changed your mind) If I have the script inside the navMenu it does not recognize the menu, so I cannot hide it from there.
