In the code I am working on I am attaching MCs to other MCs. However, when I remove the second MC the first one gets removed too. HexStore contains a load of game hex MCs.LastLocation is the last hex MC clicked. myBrigade is the extra MC that needs to be removed from the LastLocation MC. Here is the code:

I have a MovieClip with the linkage name of "playerResult" in the library. For every loop it takes the scores+names from the xml and displays them by creating a new instance of "playerResult" and attaches them one by one under each other.I need to be able to remove this highscore when it's not longer needed, thus (the most important part) freeing up memory. So I can then use the same code to show the scores again without doubling the memory it uses every time.

... so I now have a name for each instance (playerResult0, playerResult1...) but still can't come up with a way to remove them.
I am using AS2. The character, a robot, has machine guns that fire off bullets. I am trying to get the bullets to disappear when they hit an enemy. They do dmage, but for some reason they are still there. Here is the code I use to attach and delete them.
i am trying to draw continues line one point to another by mouse click , and each points there will be a round shape(using linkage library method) with the mouse click .the lines all are removed by this (_root.newgrid1.clear()) method.the problem is that i was only able to remove one round shape from the stage using remove movie clip method,ow can i remove all the attached movie by the reset button from newgrid2?

i'm trying to remove a function from a movieclip, is there a way of doing this, so I keep the movieclip on stage but removes the onPress etc? I'd also want to be able to reapply that function the movieclip later.
I am using these settings for media server but there's too much noise when a mic is attached to stream. Code is as following, can you suggest changes to remove the noise for more crystal clear voice?
I have a swf file ("myfile.swf") which i want to load using preloader.
I referred many tutorials for preloader but problem is I want to load "myfile.swf" at _root level as I have referenced many movieclips in it as for example _root.mc1.mc2
I tried following but may be i am mistaking somewhere...
1) I used preloader in frame 1 and frame 2 and swf content in frame 3 but the file is so huge that the preloading almost starts at around 69% or so
2) I kept preloader in scene 1 and swf content in scene 2. But i cannot see the preloader or i can see at 98% or 99%
3) I used preloader in "pre.swf" and used loadMovie() to load "myfile.swf" at _root. But as i m loading "myfile.swf" at _root so preloader's code is overwritten and so i m not able to see preloader
My "myfile.swf" is very complicated file and so i cannot change all the movieclips which i have referenced as "_root.mc1.mc2".

trying to create an animated preloader.how to do a basic bar preloader but what I want is to fill a swirl shape (attached) based on the amount loaded.I can easily enough create the movie clip where the full outline is there and then it fills up but I have no idea how to turn that into a preloaded and have it fill based on the percent loaded. Am I correct in assuming I can't use a mask because of the irregular shape?
In the code below i want to change the _root.broj and _root.logo variables inside the function which returns values from .php file. Inside the function everything works fine and all values are correct but when i trace var broj outside the function it's still 0.

I admit I'm fairly new to flash, but I've almost finished an entire RPG battle system complete with music [etc. etc.] - but my problem is trying to add a preloader.. I have a basic page which says "Loading" and has a Dynamic text box below which should read the Variable "_root.loadText". In the first frame I have this code:

and in the second just "_root.gotoAndPlay(1);" for the updating process. I'm sure that's all okay. But when I export it, then upload the swf file to somewhere like SwfCabin to show people for testing purposes, they have to wait on just a blank white screen for 1~3 minutes.. -note: I use both Adobe flash CS3 [at home] and Macromedia Flash 8 [at school] - I can stick to just CS3 if needed.

I just recently began migrating from AS2 to AS3, and I have of course realized that I can no longer move the "_root" by changing the _x and _y positions of the _root (which no longer exists in AS3). How can I do this in AS3 (specifying _x, _y, _z possibly of the "_root")?

I am able to get the Flash preloader working with say an image like JPG but when I attempt to have the preloader load a video it doesn't work. I read that in order to use a FLV file it needs to be embedded into a SWF file so preloader can work with it. One issue with embedding the FLV file into the SWF is the sound does not match up with video after that conversion which can kinda be fixed by changing the FPS. Needless to say I have not been able to get this working correctly. I am not sure if there is a work around for this issue.

I am just trying to get the preloader to work with the home scene of the movie.The problem I have is the song buttons don't all appear on the home scene so I can't figure out why the preloader isn't loading everything then goes to the home scene..
I'm using this code for my preLoader:[code]And it works fine as a preLoader in that it adds the animation and counts up the percent of the swf that's loaded but only for the images on my stage. My code calls in some external mp3 files and I want the preLoader to wait until the external files are loaded too.[code]S'all pretty straight forward, I just want to make the preLoader wait until the mp3 files are loaded too.
I'm trying to add a preloader to external .swf files that will load into main site but when I test movie I get this:TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference
I broke it into about 8 parts. 1 being the "mainSWF". This one loads up, and has a preloaded on Frame 1. Once this is loaded, you get to a certain page, and it loads the first external SWF, inside of this one. This SWF still uses the backgrounds, of the "MainSWF". And when you get to the end of this SWF, it sends a "dispatchEvent" to trigger a function that unloads the current SWF, and loads the appropriate new one. THIS ALL WORKS!
What I am looking to happen, is have a preloader to load the these external SWF's. (Like I have on frame 1 of the "MainSWF".
I would like to have them on the first frame of each external SWF, simply because the first frame is a good frame to sit on while the loader happens. ANd the first frame of each External SWF is different. My MainSWF preloaded is working great, and its code looks like this[code]...
I know how to make such preloader for loading one file after another. But I need preloader that will be able to preloade many files/movies at the same time and show percentage of each one. Lets talk about 3 movies. How to do that? I remember that I have seen such thing somewhere on the net before.
i just started to learn as3 with flash cs4. i have couple of doubts.
1. how to create a preloader which need to show by loading a bunch of jpg,mp3,xml and swf files one bye one. the problem face is to get the file size to find the totalbytes before loading a file.
2. how stop loading of a file while loading in progress.
