ActionScript 2.0 :: Recording Time When Frame Start / Stop

Jan 13, 2005

I've been asked to produce a flash production that at one point records a time. The basis is that when a object hits another objects (both set as movie clips) flash tells the user ina dynamic text field how long the collision took to happen. i have everything working except from the timer. it recognises that the collision happens and text appears in the text field to show that, but still no idea how to make flash start timing when the frame is started and stop (and show) when the collision is made.

I realize this is probably an old thread, but does anyone have an actionscript example of how to create a custom start and stop time for a Flash video?  In other words I'd like to be able to "bracket" the play time of a Flash video with custom start and stop times rather than start at the beginning and end at the end.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Stop At Frame 1 And Wait For Click On Start Button

May 7, 2010

I wrote the following code to have flash stop on frame 1 and wait for the click on the start button. I will use the animation in Connect Pro and without a Start button, the audio starts before the video. Here is the code and following is the error I get in the Compiler when I play the animation. The button does have the instance name play_btn :

play_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, buttonClicked);
function buttonClicked(event:MouseEvent):void {
gotoAndPlay(2);
} stop();

The error I get is:
Location: Scene=Scene1, layer=actions, frame=1, line 3
Description: The class or interface 'MouseEvent' could not be loaded.
Source: Function buttonClicked(event:MouseEvent);void

AS3 :: Click Sound At The Start Of Recording?

Dec 15, 2011

I'm currently recording sound and storing the byte array for playback and subsequent encoding to mp3.

Unfortunately though I am getting a click sound at the very beginning of the recording.

I have attempted a couple of methods to try to eliminate this such as:

recording the first .3 seconds with mic.gain = 0; then setting mic.gain = 50; clearing the byteArray after the first .3 seconds then continuing to write the bytearray (in effect deleting the first .3 seconds of the recording.)

Neither of those methods has stopped the click being added.

how I can prevent the click from being added?

Here is my recording/storing code:

public var mic:Microphone = Microphone.getMicrophone();
public var micSilence:uint;
private var soundBytes:ByteArray = new ByteArray();
private var soundBA:ByteArray = new ByteArray();

I got it work in my delevoper enviroment, but when i deployed it to the production server, the webcam can't get connected to the FMS. I'm afraid this is because of port blocking from the firewall. Does anyone knows wich ports are userd for recording from a browser by the Flash Media Server? I open the 1935 port in the Flas Media Server, but it still doesn't work.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Start Button Needs To Start Timer And Move To Another Frame?

Apr 24, 2011

I'm trying to broaden my horizons with it and so I'm trying to do an update of a quiz program my employer has. Everything has worked well, except for the timer. The button that starts the game has two options, "study" or "exam"; if the study is selected, there is no countdown, just the score keeper. If the exam option is selected, the timer is show (counting up). But, press "Start" and while the quiz begins, the timer, in either case, does not.

I'm going to post the actionscript for the timer that was already there, as well as the start button. I'm hoping someone can explain how this timer is supposed to work and why it's not; and where the disconnect lies in pressing the start button and making it run.The timer is embedded in a movie clip, with two dynamic text boxes, that are for some have no instance name; and actionscript spread out over several frames.Frame 1:

Minutes = "00";
Seconds = "00";
Centiseconds = "00";

ActionScript 3.0 :: Start Frame And End Frame For Keyframes

Oct 11, 2010

I'm having a problem looping through my timeline, I want to use JSFL to hit each keyframe, perform an action (in this case breakapart, but thats a different question on a different thread) and then go to the next keyframe.

[Code]...

JSFL has proven to be the utter bane of my existence. I'm still relatively new to AS in general and AS3 in specific, and this is my first foray into the world of JSFL. I need to learn how to create this tool for work, and I am the only person here with any experience in javascript, so I'm pretty much on my own.

Professional :: Start The Playhead On A Frame Other Than Frame 1?

Nov 29, 2010

So I made a ridiculously long Flash animation, but now I have to break down to certain parts. It's all made in one scene.

My question is can I start the playhead on a frame other than frame 1. Say frame 595, I've tried gotoAndPlay(595);, but to no avail. I've searched for a good 2 hours on this too. Is something so simple not possible in Flash?

Media Server :: Recording "failing" The First Time?

Aug 6, 2009

currently, we're running FML 2  and I'm writing a very simple recording application that generates a random stream name and publishes a flv using the microphone on the user's computer. The error I'm running into is that the first time I press record (and run netstream.publish(fileName, "record")) it always fails.  if I stop recording, then rerecord it works fine.

an example of the code I'm using:

active_mic = Microphone.get();
active_mic.setGain(90);
today = new Date();
fileName = "test"+today.getTime().toString();

[code]...

like I said, it always fails when I first "record".  if I end the recording and start again it works fine.(the trace basically reads NetStream.Record.NoAccess) a workaround I did was to put a publish and close immediately in the begininng to "trick" it to recording.

AC2 :: Stop One Sound And Start Another?

I am creating an animation with very few controls for a presentation and it requires adding sound. I have my intro in the first frame with one sound and then want the user to click anywhere to start the animation and another sound.The problem I am having is sound control.No matter what I try the sounds overlap. I have managed to stop the first sound when going to the next frame - the animation, but the second sound now will not start. The first sound is called in from the library with the below code:

var snd = new Sound();
snd.attachSound("Tune");
and stopped when going on the next frame with:

Start / Stop A Scrolling Background?

Mar 18, 2009

Im trying to animate a scrolling background which is simple enough. I dont want the background animation to scroll when the game is first loaded, I only want it to begin scrolling after the play button is clicked.

Ive used stop(); command in the first line of the MovieClip instance that is the back ground.

Some things I have tried

- Coding in flash to scroll the background, add a check to see once the background reached a certain x.position on the stage, it would addChild the same instance, where it originally was located and repeat the scroll process. I couldnt get this work, but would be intersted to see how you guys would approach it.

-Tried using a gotoAndPlay(2); in the movieclip last key frame to repeat the process. This causes the animation to chop up. I tried using this several diffrent ways, I could get it work at one point. But the background would scroll before the button was even clicked, I couldnt figure out a work around.
