View 6 RepliesI have a List Component being resized at runtime based on the size of the Stage. It seems to scale the content rather than just changing the bounds of the list. Is there a way to change its size programatically without scaling the content?
View 1 RepliesI have finished my flash game, but when I used web Browser such as Chrome or FireFox to run it, it enlarged my game to full size of the browser. Is there anyway( in AS3 script) that I could prevent this from happening as well as hide the symbols that their sizes are bigger than my default size defined at the document property panel?

i am looking for class or something to proportional outside scaling of stage and all included objects (internal or external).I know SWFfit and LiquidStage. I have got many problems with integrating SFWfit to my code (resizing is not affected to included objects). LiquidStage seems to be ok but it`s not freeware . I am looking for free possibilities to do it.I am trying to connect that with GAIA framework.

I have edited the pageflip script and file to suit what I need to do and my issue is not related to the usual addition of pages or content etc... but is to do with publishing the file. I have increased the sizes of the page from what they are in the original file and this is where the issue lies because when I come to publish the file as an exe the content no longer seems to fit the window when published and you have to expand the viewer. The instructions for quite a lot of the pageflip is there and pretty easy to decipher however outputting/publishing the file seems to be unclear.
Can somone please point me in the right direction for resizing the stage or changing the settings so that the published file shows all the content without the need to resize the window?
I've search through all the threads with "scaling" and "resizing" and can't find the solution.
Basically I have a GUI element on a gallery that I don't want to scale, while the rest of the page is free to resize/scale.
I think I need to add a listener of some sort to the stage, but I'm not sure how to do this.
I have custom flex component inherited from UIComponent (compiled, no source code access). It has fixed width-to-height proportions and it's scalable. If I set its width and height to 100%, it's trying to fit parent's size, but it keeps width-to-height proportion, so if it's proportion does not equal parent's proportion, there can appear empty space near this component when resizing parent.
What I need, is to fit my component completely to parent's size. Is there any nice way to do this? I could listen to parent's resize event, and play with component's scaleX and scaleY
I have a Bitmap. Let's say it's 100x100 in size. I would like to display that bitmap on a Sprite that for the sake of this example is 100x50. Since the height of the bitmap is double than the height of the sprite - I would have liked the bitmap to be cropped (and to later implement a "scroll-down" mechanism) - HOWEVER, apparently:
1. The size of an "empty" sprite is defined by the size of its first children(s) - once I addChild the bitmap into the sprite - the sprite becomes 100x100 (If I try to define the size of the sprite to 100x50 before adding the child, and then adding it - then nothing is displayed).
2. If I then try to resize the sprite by modifying its Height property - the bitmap get's "scaled-down", or rather "squashed-in" to fit the new size.I'd like the bitmap to retain its original size (and be cropped at the bottom).Can it be done (without copyPixeling to a different bitmap etc.), and if so how?
btw:(3) If after all that I try to scale the bitmap back up (by changing scaleY) - then the sprite itself is again gets scaled and resized with it...
Ive seen this done in some website, the image while resized (down of course) doesnt lose quality. When I tried to scale the loader it loses quality. I even tried to use bitmapdata for that but it seems the result is the same.

I would like the user to be able to resize the window, or make it full screen. I would like everything to auto-scale with the resize, but also remain in the same relative position on the stage.

I have an AS2 image gallery with thumbnails and fullsize images and descriptions that load from external XML-files. I have found out how to take this gallery into true full screen. But when going full screen, I want only the full size image to scale up. Descriptions and thumbnails should stay the size they have when the flash movie is in its normal display state.

I have a couple of Image Loaders, the images that they call are bigger than the components themselves but have turned on scaleContent to ensure that it fits and scales to size. This works fine across many platforms but i've found that on some systems it displays the imported image at it's true size rather than the actual size of the component.

Upon the initial design it was just a static size, now however I've been working on making it completely resizeable (with the original size as the minimum). I've done this on most of the screens correctly. However on the main screen I have several components. All custom built MovieClips basically, and inside these are more MovieClips, and inside those are even more movieclips.
For my question, I'm going to be using a button as my example. I created a button movieclip with a resize function to call after I change the size of it. So it works like this:

Now this button is inside of another movieclip which is designed to just house a group of similar movieclips. (this structure is not changable; several hundreds of lines are code are specifically designed around it). How to get our button's width from the root timeline, we'd do this:

Now, when this frame gets resized, the resizing script changes the width height of the housingMC. Something like this: (not a working example)

I want to use a gradient as background for my flash movie, but I want this background to cover the whole browser's window just like Adopt Design does it (check out Adopt Design). The content of the flash movie should NOT be resizable with the browser's window though. So, I used this code:

in the HTML file I did set the margins to 0pix and the SWF's height and width to 100%. But when I type in the address in the browser to open the page the first time, I see the flash movie in the center with white background around it anyway, and when I resize the browser's window (even if just 1pix) everything is perfect. What's happening? check the problem in a JPG: the site (notice what changes when you resize the window, after opening)[URL]
I am having a slight issue, i have created a flash file 800 x 600,But i need to split it into half... i already have animations on both halfs which overflow to the off screen,Is there a way of cutting the content in half via width (400x600)? (im uploading the content into a system which requires it in 2 halfs and also if i have any content off screen is messes up...)
View 4 RepliesI was looking at this tutorial, this is exactly what I am trying to do with my website, but this is AS3, is there a way to change the code so it will function exactly the same but with AS2 code instead.
I have already contstructed my site with AS2, which then wont allow this code to work, Is there even a way I can have an AS3 index file that loads the movies with the AS2 and applies the same resizing to the movies that have been loaded.

View 1 RepliesI've devised a preloader using the ui loader and progress bar components in flash cs3. The goal being to load an external .swf into the uiloader and that has been achieved. I'm having problems with the scaling now. In my code I have set the content scaling to "true" and that isn't supposed to cause distortion of any type but it does. It squishes my external .swf in width wise.

I thought that in the past I had seen a tutorial on this site teaching how to have a outlined box scale smaller and larger when a button is clicked, and the size of the box scales to a certain size depending on what loads inside the box. When this happens the outline does not change either. This all being done in most likely actionscript?
Well I have searched extensively and have not found it on this site, which I thought is where I had seen it. Anyway I was wondering if anyone knew of the tutorial or if they could tell me how to do what I have exlained above that would be really awesome!

I have flash content online that is 1024x800 px but need it to resize/scale dynamically if the browser window is resized or someone with a browser height of less than 800 visits the website.
Been looking at stage.resize and event.resize but can't figure them out. Also have looked at swfobject and swffit (not actionscript I know) and can resize my content to a specific size using swfobject but not dynamically.
I've just run through this tutorial and I've got my site centering in my browser as planned.However when I resize my browser window the text (I'm using a pixel font) is going fuzzy.Is there some way I can lock 'centerRectangle' to a rounded X and Y coordinate so that this doesn't happen?

I have a main flash container move that loads in multiple swf files. I created a movieclip container in the main flash container that resizes and positions according to the stage height and width as follows:

This works fine if no graphics are off the stage in the loaded swfs. Otherwise if I have a scrolling menu and the buttons out width the containing mc it takes into account the masked content width and centers the movieclip accordingly throwing alignment off.
Is there a way to ignore masked content when getting stage width and height?
