View 1 RepliesI've made it so that I can I can use an external class to control a movie clip. Very exciting. I've run into a new issue though, in that now when I load this swf into a parent movie, the Papervision no longer works. I don't receive any error or anything. When I run the swf by itself everything runs as it should, but when loaded into another parent, it just seems to turn off any interactivity.

I'm trying to get some things done but run once in a while, well at least, into some issues.Here is one:
I have an swf that is an image viewer/browser that has references on same level, an ImageProperties.xml and some folders full of small jpeg tiles.I actually have a few of these, each in its own folder.Above these folders I have another swf that is the main one, and I am loading from there the other ones with the code pasted at end of this post.
This works if I replace the URLRequest by just the name of the swf to load and I put the main swf with the loader function and the loaded one at same level. But if I leave URLRequest going one level deep "16/xxx.swf" and have the loader swf one level up then it loads the viewer but doesn't show the image.

I have an AS3 Flash 10 app that uses the mouse to dynamically update the perspective center of the the Flash stage using the Flash's native 3D. An issue exists when I dynamically load in an external SWF into a container that exists as a 3D movieclip (this is done by simply setting the z axis of the container to 1). When the dynamically loaded SWF is loaded the buttons in that SWF stop working. If I go back to the host program (the program loading in the swf) and 'remove transform' on the container where the dynamic SWF to reside. The dynamically loaded SWF works as expected. Have you ever heard of this issue? Do you know of any solution or workaround to this while keeping the SWF external?
FYI... there are actually a few pixels on the stage that DO in fact trigger the action of the button but the location of this trigger is completely unrelated to the visual location of the button itself. This reaction to the dynamically loaded native 3D element seems very unusual.

I have a site at the mo with a banner in flash but i know that there are sites out there that use flash more in depth. ive seen pretty much whole sites done with flash before but have no idea how to do it! I could get something interatctive with buttons etc in flash cs3 but would have no idea how to display it all in a webpage, create a link from flash to the html or whatever so when a button was clicked it'd take the user to a different page...etc
I have an ad banner that the client says the clickTag layer must be the top most layer. The problem is I have movies below that layer that animate on rollOver:

These do not work unless they are above the clickTag layer. Is their a way I can adjust the rollOver code to acomodate for this? Both the clickTag and the movies are on the main time line but the rollOver animation is in its own movie.

I'm having trouble retaining interactivity in a DisplayObject (MovieClip) that has been altered to become a 3D object in Flash 10. The current structure is as follows: MovieClip1 with Mouse EventListeners nested inside MovieClip2 inside MovieClip3. MovieClip3 is rotated in 3D space via rotationX and rotationY as well as in Z space. After this happens interactivity in MovieClip1 does not function.

I encountered a weird error, I lose sessions when moving between pages.
I lose Sessions because i use Flash (swf) menu to navigate between pages.
So when i navigate to a page using the Flash menu, I lose the session.

I just found out that the session was opened on http://WebSite.com/ And the flash was redirecting to http://www.WebSite.com/
So the session losts between domains, and not between pages because of flash :) I just made all my site use the www domain .
I'm working on a project where I want to use a transparent png, and when authoring in Flash CS3 (using actionscript 2.0) the png image appears transparent just as it should. However when I test it the .swf file loses the transparency entirely. The png image was saved for web from photoshop as png-24.

The expected interactivity was blocked by a transparent gif that lay on top of the banner and apparently was there to track and handle clicks. It's a ad component for Joomla called Ijoomla Ad Agency. There is no way to make the ad component work in another way.

View 3 RepliesAs an AS3 beginner, I'm trying to translate an old AS2 trick into AS3. I want to disable then re-enable any kind of interactivity with all the display objects on the stage, at once. For example while waiting for external assets to load or after a user clicks on a menu item.
This what I used to do with AS2 :

protect_mc._visible = false;
Then switching protect_mc._visible to true or false.
(protect_mc being an empty movie clip with the stage's height and width, at the highest depth)
My first idea is registering a listener with the Stage for the capture phase of MouseEvent.CLICK that stops all input events propagation (mouse, focus, text...), when a "lock" static variable is set to true or does nothing otherwise. Second idea is using a Custom Event...
It would seem that if you choose to create a custom cursor that you cannot interact with anything else on the stage with a mouse. I have written the code:

When I roll over and click, nothing happens. Every now and again it works, but very rarely. It's not because it's a ENTER_FRAME event either, because I changed it to a non ENTER_FRAME function and changes from hitTestObject to a ROLL_OVER and it still didn't work. But I have seen hundreds of Flash games over the years that have custom cursors AND interactivity.
Here's the excellent Todd Dominey crossfading slide show. All I want is just that after the slideshow has ended (by choosing "sequential" on the xml file) with 10 pictures of flowers for examples, I want it to load by itself another .swf (movie2.swf for example)

View 6 RepliesI have a project that consists of 11 invisible buttons laid over a map of a building; when the user mouses over a "room," the name of the room appears. The building map is on an angle so I rotated and skewed the button text to match the map. All the text looks fine within each button symbol, but when published 4 or 5 of them lose their skew...the rotation seems to still be intact.

I'm having some serious problems with my dynamic text fields. The case is, I format the dynamic text fields to have character spacing and line spacing both equal to 1. Everything seems fine in the SWF when the text is actually typed INTO the dynamic text field, but when I make it fetch text from Actionscript or an external XML file Flash player renders the text as if it had 0 character spacing and 0 line spacing.
View 1 RepliesI did a test where I was able to load in data to a text field in flash from an xml file. This field will eventually be a scrolling text box. How would I make some of the text in the XML file interactive (meaning you could click on it and cause something to happen in the flash) - for example popping up a graphic on the screen. I don't want it to be an external link (URL) and since the text scrolls, there is no way to know where it will be on the screen when the user clicks on it so I can't create an invisible button.

am getting now really crazy over this.I wrote a shockwave application that connects to a server (this one I wrote in PHP) via XMLSockets. My problem now is that exactly after 3 seconds the client disconnects automatically from the server.Maybe some of you could review my code to give me a hint where the problem is located - note that I use ExternalInterface and call the functions with JavaScript.

I included two images attached to this post to explain.I have a few buttons on my webpage that lose part of the letter when I roll over them. I am using a glow effect when I roll over the buttons and the buttons were not "broken apart" before I made them buttons, I dont know if that makes a difference.

I am using SWF Quicker to edit a flash swf file, but whenever I export it, all the sound is gone. Even if I export it without making any modifications, all the sound disappears. I have tried using different versions of ActionScript (1.0, 2.0, 3.0) and different Flash Player formats, but every time there is no sound
View 1 RepliesI load an external swf with some buttons into another swf.Now the buttons have lost their original instance names. A trace reveals their new names to be "button1", "button2", etcetera. If I run the external swf on its own, the same trace displays the original instance names.

So.
File A - the loader
File B - load swf
File C - load swf xml file
All sit in the same folder
if I open file B, it reads file C no problem
if I open A that loads in B, it loses location of C and it dont load the xml? I am on access network files.
