Jul 8, 2010I have this problem whenever I publish a .html file from flash. There is always white borders around it and the swf never fits to the browser size and with scrolls. I saw a few websites , the .swf fits the web browser nicely without any scrolls. May I know how do I do that? I checked swfobject2, but I am not really sure how to do it...

Mar 14, 2005I need to evaluate long list of variables and I want actionscript to perform an action if my variable fits into certain range.I tried like this
if(_global.something == "var1" || "var2" || "var3" || "var4" || "var5" || "var6")
but it doesnt work, the usage of || needs only 2 variables...
I dont want to write my script like
if(_global.something== "var1"){
samefunction();[code].....
how can I write my script efficiently in this case?
Html :: Have Other Divs With A Flash Liquid Layout That Fits To The Page?
Jun 29, 2011Basically the majority of my content is flash based. I designed it using Flash Builder (Flex) and Its in a liquid layout, (everything is in percents) and if im JUST embedding the flash content it scales to the page fine, and i have the flash content set to have a padding of 50 px.
I put a header div in fine with no problems, but I have 2 problems, the first being the footer div seems to cover up the buttom of the flash content in IE, but it looks just fine in chrome. How can I solve this? I'm using the stock embed code that Flex provides, I tried to edit the css style for the div which I think is #flashContent and give it a min width and min height but it didnt seem to work, actually anything I did to #flashContent didn't seem to do anything, maybe its not the div i need to be adding that attribute to...
And my other problem is I dont even know where to start when it comes to placing a div thats 280width by 600height colum to the right side of the flash content. If i could specify a size for the flash content, and the float it left, and float the colum right, and clear it with the container div id be just fine....But remember the flash content is set to 100% Scale (well techically 100%x80% because it looked better that way). how I can start to deal with creating a more complex scaleable flash layouts that includes other divs? ALL WELL MAINTAINING IE SUPPORT? IE is ruining my life.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Loaded Into A Dynamic Text Box Of A Fixed Size That Fits Within Page?
Feb 1, 2010I have a few text based pages on a site i am trying to build which contain dynamic text (contained within a database, which can be changed from elsewhere). These are loaded into a dynamic text box of a fixed size that fits within my page. This all works great. I have created two scroll movieclips (which act as buttons, one for up, one for down) which when clicked cause the textbox to scroll up or down as relevant. These work fine as well.
The problem i'm having is I only want the scroll buttons to appear if they are required (ie if the text within the text field is larger than its height so you need to scroll to read it all), but i cannot work out how to find the height of the actual content (as opposed to the height of the predefined dynamic text box). I can obviously create the textbox as autosized, then find it's height, then compare it to the desired height and (if it's larger) manually change it's height and display the scroll buttons, however i cannot imagine this is the most effective way to do it at all?I'm sure there is a standard, logical way to do this but i cannot seem to find any reference to it online or in the forums, but maybe because i'm searching for the wrong thing?

Dec 18, 2009in other words, suppose I want to send data, like text, programmatically from a Windows app (such as a browser plugin) to a Flash app running in the browser. Well, conceptually, an example of this might be a Flash instant messenger with a textbox and button "Send"; so let's say I want to be able to programmatically paste the text and press Send or otherwise activate it. That's NOT what I am trying to do here in reality (i.e., no,I am not trying to spam other people's chat rooms or anything)but just an illustration of a similar situation.I can include in it whatever widget or hack that may be necessary.The reason why this problem is arising for me is that AFAIK the SDK that is providing me the data I want cannot be directly accessed from Flash, so I need a way to pipe the data from a regular app into Flash. can I have the Flash app interact with other apps through localhost IP? Or are there draconian restrictions on which server Flash in browser can and cannot interact?

Jan 17, 2006 I have a PHP mailer form on my site which needs to be published in action script2 to work, but I also have a script set up to open browser windows of a certain size & location which needs actionscript 1 to work? The PHP mailer form has a "Name" field, "Email" field & "Message" field, theses can all be reset with a button. The button clears off any text in the 3 boxes to wipe them clean. The script on the reset button is:

This works fine with section script 2 but not with as1. Does anyone know of a script that resets the .text field on as1 Alternatively is there any way of opening browser windows from a flash movie with browser win controls, eg. centre win, no scrollbars.

Jul 17, 2010I created a photo album viewer which grabs an XML file from my web site, and then parses the XML to get the paths to all the photos to be displayed by the album viewer. The code makes use of the URLLoader class to fetch the XML. The problem, though, is that in google Chrome it works-- but in IE8, it doesn't work. For example, the XML code and the image fetching code work seemlessly on Chrome. But in IE8 and in IE6, it seems to not be able to fetch such information.
I've read somewhere that you need a crossdomain.xml file at the root directory of your server. But I'm not crossing any domains! It's all coming from my server where the swf is being hosted!

May 11, 2009I've figured out how to tell my flash website not to scale itself (which degrades the quality of the buttons i've created as .gifs). And then how to keep it centered within the browser. But this leads to unwanted white, negative space on all sides, since i'm keeping my site small enough for everyone to view (at 800 x 600). So what code can I add that will scale the browser to the set dimensions of the site? Rather than vice versa.

Nov 14, 2009I have several .swf pages that are as2 that load in the upper left corner at actual size (800x600) the first time they are loaded. however, when they are linked back to (reloaded after first view) they are now centered and resize to fit the current window size.
I tried updating in the publish settings, but that only seems to be an option in the html tab, and I'm not using html for most of them (only my index page, which is still behaving the same as the rest of them!)
I am updating my website and using the navigation swf pages over, and the resizing centered option was great, but now some of my pages are html and do not scale and are aligned to the top left. for consistancy, I want them all the same. For pages that I did not re-use and just started with the default settings in flash (but using as3, don't know if that makes a difference) I am not having trouble with. they are actual size aligned top left.

Jan 12, 2010I have a swf that uses actionscript 3.0 to drag and drop images, activate buttons that run movie clips and manage the display list. It runs flawlessly when I execute it directly (i.e. double-click the swf), but I want to publish it on the web -- so I used File -> Publish to create the necessary html file, but when I run it in a browser (I've only tried IE) the initial screen looks perfect, but none of the buttons and drag and drop features work. Also,when I run the swf using File -> Publish Preview, it fails exactly the same way if I choose HTML, but works perfectly if I choose Flash.I created a pared-down version of the fla (see the code below) to try to isolate the problem, and the behavior is exacly the same.I'm attaching the swf and html files for the pared-down version.

Flash 9 :: FLV On Some Browser
Sep 3, 2008I'm embedding in a swf a flv video, with the classic "FLVPlayback", a flv of 500kbps...duration 10 seconds, total size 700kb and start buffering at 0.5... The swf is embedded in the html with swfoject:

On mac everything is fine, but on ie(6,7) and ff PC version, the flv doesn't seem to work fine. Sometimes it just stops....sometimes it stops definitively.

It resizes the swf stage size.(I know this because I have a value which is positioned according to the stage width/height, and also because if I choose an opaque windowless I can see that it is bigger than I want it to be)Am I loading the .swf wrong?

If I click on one link, the browser opens up in front of the .exe and shows the link. but if I leave the browser open and go to the .exe and click on another link, this link will be open on a new tab, and the browser wont be brought back in fornt of the .exe. so the user wont know that the link has been open.

The problem is we can't just give width and height to be 100% as we have 2 things in our swf:
1. The background (composed of images and video fading in one after another)
2. the main content area
We only want the background to fit and the main content will always appear in the center.
IDE :: Enter Key In Browser?
Apr 11, 2009how to enable the ENTER key in Flash (using AS2 still). In my SWF file it works fine, but once I publish it and open the HTML file, my ENTER key does not work.
How it works is: At the start you have to press enter to continue. Then you have to enter your menu choice in a input txt field with instance "databox_txt". If you type in "about" and hit ENTER it takes you to frame 30 and stops.
I've read that browsers does not support the ENTER key in Flash. Is there Perhaps a workaround? Via PHP perhaps?
IDE :: 100% Fullscreen In Browser?
Jun 26, 2009I know this is a simple problem but I've been searching for tutorials for hrs and everyone I find is incompatible for CS4 flash and DreamWeaver so all I require is some help with making my flash movie occupy the whole screen when displayed in my browser. If actionscript is required I am using AS2.

Oct 28, 2009I have flash movie that loads flv's from a server, in flash IDE and even when you load the swf from the server this all works super and is not a problem. However when the flash is embedded in a hmtl page it does not load the video and I think it doesnt even load the xml but I think its the same problem.
I think its something to do with the security but Im not sure. Its probably something very simple but it is very annoying.
