ActionScript 2.0 :: Script Error - Movie Running Slowly?
May 16, 2005
I'm going some genetic algorithms in Flash, and just wondering if there is any way to get rid of that stupid pop up. You know the script is running slow one, that pops up after 15secs because it ASSUMES your in a stuffed loop.I think the amount of times I go through loops in 38000. Thats with 50 Generations and 100 Population.
I have made a simple animation in Flash and the i exported into a swf. The problem is, that the movie is running slow, jerky or in other words is playing in slow motion. I have changed the frame rate but with luck, is there a problem with video player/codec?
*Edit1: the clip doesn't have any code, is hand drawing on 6 layers; also when i import this movie in Adobe Premier and the export in .avi the jerky effect disappears.[Url]
I have a basic movie, where on the main timeline i have a series of stops to pause the movie,so the user can choose to proceed by selecting a play button. When the play button is pressed it plays a video. While it is playing this video there is also a button on stage allowing the user to skip to a frame label. I also have drop down menu on the same frames the play button is on in the form of a movie clip.This drop down menu contains buttons which navigate to the main timeline, to different frame labels.
But after selecting a few buttions (using the menu in the movie clip or not) I get the error "'A script in this movie is causing Flash Player to run slowly. If it continues to run, your computer may become unresponsive.
I have a fairly large flash movie with over 3000 frames set to 30fps with several videos as backgrounds, some special effects libraries, sound effects, music, voice, and a reasonable amount of tweening going on. Some of the scenes are running a bit slowly, particluarly during scene transitions when new sounds, voice, music and videos come in.question: is it better to split this up into many swfs and then make a flash file that plays each one? How should I be organizing it?
If so, what code do I use to play multiple swfs and how do I load one from my setup screen out of order (In my setup screen, I let the user start playing at any scene they like). I have 7 "scenes". I use quotes because they are not actual scenes (which even Adobe recommends against and I'm unsure why... - if you know, tell me?). My scenes are simply delineated by placing Labels along the timeline.
I am having a problem with loading external swf's. The external swf's when loaded.....run very very slow; sometimes unresponsive as if there is a script running in the background. I'm using keyboard commands to navigate through the screens - e.g.: on (keyPress "<Space>") { gotoAndStop("scene02", "firstframeLabel"); }
I have a main interface which loads up a series of animated .swfs, one after the other into an empty movie clip, under a mask layer on my main timeline.My problem is with the loaded swfs running really slowly. Without them being loaded into the interface, they run fine, as I have tested them online.But once they are within the interface, they run really slowly, especially when the redraw regions are biggest. I'm just using
loadMovie("FirstMovie.swf", "_root.empty_mc");
In my main timeline to load the first movie, then
this.loadMovie("SecondMovie.swf");
...on the final frame of the first movie, and so on.As you can see, I havent put any numbers or channels in, as I'm not sure how they work. Could this be why my swfs are running so slow?
I am currently working on a flash website for a client, I am a PHP and Csharp developer and am reasonably new to flash/ActionScript 3. The website has a video gallery with 10 thumbnails, when one is clicked the specific video is loaded into an FLVPlayback component.
The problem I am having is that on slower internet connections the site and videos are running really slowly and even occasionally getting stuck and crashing! Currently there is no preloader for the site as a whole but I have a preloader for each video, a loading animation is played until the FLVPlayback component has loaded 50% of the video in, then it plays. I also set the bufferTime of the FLVPLayback component to 10 which seemed to help the stuttering sound.
The flvs are reasonably large some a few hundred MB, is there a way to optimize flash websites or does anyone have any tips on how to make the site and videos run smoother on slower connections, bearing in mind on my fast internet connection at home the site works well.
On very slow machines (>p200Mhz) I sometimes get an error that says "A script in the movie is causing macromedia flash player 6 to run slowly. If it continues to run, your computer may become unresponsive. Do you want to abort the script?" Yes, No.
I have a loop function that populates a listbox, sometimes the file it loops from is over 2000 lines, and takes a long time for the listbox to populate. In this time I get the error. If I hit No on the error everything works just fine. I am almost for sure there is no problem with my script, flash just thinks the loop is set to infinity or something and pops open the error box.
I wrote a flex demo, customized spark TextInput skin with rounded corners and a search icon in it, like mac os x search box, it's running good in browsers (by Flash Player browser plug-in) either .html or .swf, but error by flash player directly.
I am having a problem with a flash movie that plays slowly on some devices. The movie uses a lot of video, and was originally written in AS2. I changed it to AS3 and now, apparently, it plays too slowly.[code]...
I'm trying to attach a number of movie clips and then apply a slow fade in and out effect rather than a fast animation. The other requirement is that the animation should be continuous. Has anyone seen any _alpha fader code that can be used this way? I'm attaching an MX 2004 file that will give you an idea of what I'm looking for (except I need to slow the animation way down and get rid of any _x and _y scaling). For some reason, when I tweak the numbers to slow things down in this particular code I get a lot of artifacts in the Flash player
(A script in this move is causing Adobe Flash Player -n- to run slowly. If it continues...) But I haven't found a posting where it is resolved. I am trying to provide my client with an upload script. What I have so far works on small files but results in the aforementioned error message on large files.
I saw a message a few days ago that talked about writing an onEnterFrame routine in a dummy movie clip that increments a counter, but there were no details about what that code might look like. I have tried several iterations of that logic to no avail. I know I am not the only one with this problem, and I do need to find a solution. I don't think that the server php settings are the problem.
My computer jsut keeps freezing, before it completely does this message appears: (I am not playing any movies - I just reinstalled my whole operating system, so its not like I doing tons of things on when this happen, if I open more than one page - things just freeze and even with one page it takes forever to get to anything. A script in this movie is causing Adobe Player 10 to run slowly, your computer maybe become unresponsive, do you want to abort the script.
I have the following code which will bring my Banner_mc onto the middle of my Introduction page with some effects. Now, I want this movie clip to wait for a while and then move to right until it disappear with the same effects. How can I do that?
I'm externally loading some pretty large swfs (4MB - 5MB) into my main swf using a preloader from a tutorial on this site.
[URL]
As the swfs are loading i'm getting a pop-up window saying "A script in this movie is causing Adobe Flash Player 9 to run slowly. If it continues to run, your computer may become unresponsive. Do you want to abort the script?"if i click "no" everything continues to run fine. if i click "yes" my movie freezes in the middle of loading with the progress bar stopped at whatever percentage has already loaded.After perusing the forums, it seems that an infinite loop is causing this, but I don't know enough about actionscript to track it down.
publishing as flash 6 makes it so the preloader doesn't even show up and nothing plays. I need to publish as flash player 7 or lower.what is causing this pop up window and how do i get rid of it?
i facing error on flash swf when i run my swf long time minimum then 8hr after some time it will raised following error now more surprise it that it's not coming every time and also not coming in all PCs (even same configuration PCs) "A script in this movie is causing Macromedia Flash Player 7 to run slowly. If it continues to run, your computer may become unresponsive. Do you want to abort the script?
I am following the Fading grid tutorial. I have followed the steps exactly but get this error loading the movie: A script in this movie is causing flash player to run slowly. If it continues to run, your computer may become irresponsible. Do you want to abort this script yes, no? Ofcourse I don't want to abort it!

I have this weird issue with Flash Professional CS5. It has worked just fine for me in the past but when i try to start it now it gives me the following error:"This application has requested the Runtime to terminate in an unusual way
I try to debug but still no idea to this message...the error#1009 keep appearing when swf is running. I can't spot the mistake... Currently, learning AS3 and making simple game. TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.
I apoligise if this has been covered many times before but when I run the fuse. tutorial I get the following error: The class or interface 'Fuse' could not be loaded. The error refers to line 7 --- var f:Fuse = new Fuse();
Alright, I know that this error is occurring because of something to do with addchild() function. On frame 2. How do I know? Because when I remove the snippets of code that dynamically place an object onto the stage it works fine. The error is below and the source code for frame 2 is below the error messages.[code]...
I have a site that manage uploads for our content providers, but when you run the flash movie and you start uploading a file, somewhere is the middle of the upload, a message pops saying that a script in the movie is making the flash player to run slow, and thta you computer may turn unresponive, after googling for this error i find out that my script may have a infinitive loop or function, i've been tryint to find the error on my scrip[code]....
Getting error while run the checkBox item renderer in advanced datagrid with out data. Error: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.
Code: public function set listData(value:BaseListData):void { _listData=value; _dataGrid=value.owner as AdvancedDataGrid; _dataField=(value as AdvancedDataGridListData).dataField; } Here value is coming null, so I am getting above exception.
is there a way to speed up flash movies playing when put up on the web. I created a web banner and uploaded it, when I open the website on the browser the flash movie pauses for a few minutes and does not play straight away. Is there any actionscript that will ensure the flash movie will play instantly when on the web? Is it the file size that is causeing the swf to run slower? Is it anything to do with the publish settings in the fla file?
when you click on the links (which, don't exist at the moment) I'm wondering if there's a simple way to have the whole flash movie run backwards and then load the next page?
