View 2 RepliesI want my movie to loop. Would prefer an If/Else loop so that the movie plays a certain number of times then plays the opening of a screen then stops. This is a simple 4 screen ad I am doing for a school project. Can't get it to work. I tried containing my code in the proper loop syntax, didn't work. Then wrapping the loop in a function and calling that with a timer event, didn't work. My final solution was to call my whole movie in a timer event set to play once. Then calling the entire movie again in a second timer event set to play 20 times and set to start at an interval when the first movie ended. This did work but each time the movie plays thru function calls drop off making the movie degrade.

I'm trying to attach a number of movie clips and then apply a slow fade in and out effect rather than a fast animation. The other requirement is that the animation should be continuous. Has anyone seen any _alpha fader code that can be used this way? I'm attaching an MX 2004 file that will give you an idea of what I'm looking for (except I need to slow the animation way down and get rid of any _x and _y scaling). For some reason, when I tweak the numbers to slow things down in this particular code I get a lot of artifacts in the Flash player

You know the script is running slow one, that pops up after 15secs because it ASSUMES your in a stuffed loop.I think the amount of times I go through loops in 38000. Thats with 50 Generations and 100 Population.

I saw a message a few days ago that talked about writing an onEnterFrame routine in a dummy movie clip that increments a counter, but there were no details about what that code might look like. I have tried several iterations of that logic to no avail. I know I am not the only one with this problem, and I do need to find a solution. My computer jsut keeps freezing, before it completely does this message appears: (I am not playing any movies - I just reinstalled my whole operating system, so its not like I doing tons of things on when this happen, if I open more than one page - things just freeze and even with one page it takes forever to get to anything. As the swfs are loading i'm getting a pop-up window saying "A script in this movie is causing Adobe Flash Player 9 to run slowly. If it continues to run, your computer may become unresponsive. Do you want to abort the script?"if i click "no" everything continues to run fine. if i click "yes" my movie freezes in the middle of loading with the progress bar stopped at whatever percentage has already loaded.After perusing the forums, it seems that an infinite loop is causing this, but I don't know enough about actionscript to track it down.
publishing as flash 6 makes it so the preloader doesn't even show up and nothing plays. I need to publish as flash player 7 or lower.what is causing this pop up window and how do i get rid of it?

View 9 RepliesI have a basic movie, where on the main timeline i have a series of stops to pause the movie,so the user can choose to proceed by selecting a play button. When the play button is pressed it plays a video. While it is playing this video there is also a button on stage allowing the user to skip to a frame label. I also have drop down menu on the same frames the play button is on in the form of a movie clip.This drop down menu contains buttons which navigate to the main timeline, to different frame labels.

I have a loop function that populates a listbox, sometimes the file it loops from is over 2000 lines, and takes a long time for the listbox to populate. In this time I get the error. If I hit No on the error everything works just fine. I am almost for sure there is no problem with my script, flash just thinks the loop is set to infinity or something and pops open the error box.
I want my flash file plays one and stops in the end and only plays again if play again button is pressed.How do i do it?

i want to make an intro swf which is small and loads quickly but i would like the main swf to start loading while the intro is playing. i'm not worried about the intro finishing once the main movie is loaded but i just want to the main movie to START loading while the intro is playing to cut down on load time.

The final file plays OK in flashplayer 10, but the control bar is all black. You don't see any controls on it such as 'play', 'pause' and 'maximize'.Now there is a menu you can get by right-clicking on the movie. That gives you 'play' and 'pause', but not maximize.My question is, why is this happening. Why can't I see controls on the control bar, and why can't I maximize at all, even with the right-click menu?

how to create a short video to play before the user clicks on a video to watch. Kinda like a short advertisement (for our department) when the viewer wants to watch one of our football games.
With the help of another user here, I was able to get a video player to work using an xml list containing all of the video file names, once the title is clicked in the .swf file the player plays that video file.

i have a button with some code on it to play a movie clip when pressed. the movie clip should run until the last frame and then stop at the end where i have a stop action.what actually happens is the movie clip plays the first time the button is pressed but not the second time. the third time it plays again but not the fourth, the 5th time it plays etc. etc.i have noticed that if i change the stop action to a gotoAndStop(1) action the film plays everytime without problems. but what i need is it to play everytime and then stop at the end without going back to frame one until the button is clicked once more.

The function controls my menu and I need one of the options to start flashing automatically when my movie plays.
In this case I am forcing the controlling variable to equal "1" so the first menu option should start flashing.

i have an external video that i have placed in a movie clip. its to be used as a flash banner for a website. my problem is the video plays once and stops... i have no stop code and i have tried a few different actions to make it play. even a simple one like gotoAndPlay (1); etc. i'm using CS4. i've tried using action script 2.0 & 3.0 but no luck.. as well as building script on the movie clip, on a frame and its own layer.
