ActionScript 2.0 :: Scroller - Cannot Change The Height Of The Text Box Movie
May 8, 2003
The movie clip is a scroller which I download a while back (I can't remember where from now) The contents of the scroller which i want to scroll is a seperate movie clip which loads it's contents from a .txt file. The problems I am having are:
1 - I cannot seem to change the height of the text box movie, I can change it in flash, but when i publish and play it just appears at a set size.
2 - the last link in the contents jumps like crazy when I hoover over it.
3 - when there is less content than the size of the text box I would like the scroller to disapear.
4 - If I add a mask around the text box, the contents disapear, i have in place a custom mask for the mean time but this will have to go.
I am resizing a movie clips height automatically to match the height of some dynamic text that is displayed above it (will eventually be loading it from xml ). is there a way to keep a safe margin top and bottom? this is my code so far Text_Box_Graphic.height = Text_Box.height;
Its suppose to change the height of a box that is containing some text, and I just want it to go from one state to another using simple AS. Is that not possible ?
btn_small.onRelease = smallRelease; btn_Big.onRelease = bigRelease; function smallRelease() {
I have a menu like the one here. I need some of the menus to be 2 lines and others single line.Basically, the menu is set to use dynamic text with multiple lines and word wrap inside a movie clip. So far, I can either get it to do single or double lines of menu, but not both
I am trying to get the loaded movie "GB.swf" to scale/change width and height onResize. And yes I do want to be loading into a level, not into a mc, with loadMovieNum. Here is the code:
stop(); var depth = 5, x = ((Stage.width/10)*2)+10, y = 160; var widthscale = ((Stage.width/10)*6)-20; var heightscale = (Stage.height-170); _root.onEnterFrame = function() { this["_level"+depth]._x = x; this["_level"+depth]._y = y; [Code] .....
Check out "Attach Files".. I want to make a cube motion where my hairline will stay skinny.. (left cube) but if I change movie clip height for more then 220 my hairline gets thick! (right cube)
my problem is that if you go over the menu text above my scroller it controls the scroller. I wan this areas movement to have no effect on the scroller below. is there a way to script my scroller to set it to this?
As you can see, the green bar (set at 100% height) is just using the height of the viewport, not that of it's parent group, that is stretched by the red one to be 500px high.
I am having a little difficulty properly sizing a Scroller component in Adobe Flex/Flash 4. As soon as I add an element to the 'widgetsGroup' VGroup, the scroller's height property resizes to match that of its parent border container, even though the content height of the vGroup may be significantly less than this value. This is a problem because the scroller then 'covers' other elements in the border container. I guess what I am looking for is the scroller height to match the widgetGroup content height until this height exceeds the bordercontainer height, at which point the scroll bar would become visible.
I have a textField with a lot of stuff in it, so I'm creating a scroller using a mask. To do the math to make the scroller work right, I need the height of the textField. But the stuff in it is retrieved from XML and the length of it varies when it is updated, which is quite often. Is there a way I can find the height of just the text in the textField?
I would like to use a movieclip to load a flv video. The problem I have is that I want to change the video dimensions. I've tried several software to change the video dimensions but as far as it seems all of them keep the same height-width ratio than in the original video. Is there any software that would allow me to change the height and width without keeping the same height/width ratio as in the original video file?
I'm trying to find a way to do a scroller that scrolls only 'till the targets bottom reaches the Stage.height.I tried to attach some images explaining but :

I'm using a tweening engine and I need to be able to base the _yscale % of a movie clip off the height of a dynamic text field that is slightly smaller contained within the movie clip. 52 pixels smaller to be exact.I'm very poor at math but I'm guessing so far that some variable needs to be declared to factor the percentage based off the height of the dynamic text field. And I just can't think of how to do that.What I know so far:movie clip height at 100% _yscale = 396 the 'buffer' space above and below the dynamic field = 52.So if my dynamic text field height = 0, my movie clip would be 52 pixels in height. And that percentage in _yscale is 13.1%.I just can't figure out the math for this and how to translate it into ActionScript.
i have a dynamic text field that loads a variable into it (just a simple text file). this text file will be updated on occasion. i also have a movie clip to be positioned below the text field, however i want the movie clip to change position depending on how much text is in the text field so there isnt a large gap and so they dont overlap. is this possible? i tried the following actionscript to adjust the size of the text field depending on the amount of text. textField2.autosize = "center"; however i have no idea how to get the y position of the movie clip to adjust accordingly.

I have a video player that is working great - but am trying to change the XML play list from one that is prev/next page to a scroller. I don't just want to straight up post it since it was purchased from another site.
I'm using the dynamic text scroller from [URL] found at [URL] Here's a link to my zipped files too... [URL]
1) I can't figure out how to have URL links in the text that loads.
2) How can I make the scroller refresh to allow for new text in the dynamic text area. The content changes alright, but the scroller stays in the same position and if it wasn't needed initially, the scroller disappears and doesn't return on new text.
I want to make a Flash app that will scroll text whilst music plays. The music part is easy, but scrolling the text...I've tried simply importing ALL of the text, resizing, and scrolling that one giant object upwards, but when the screen was full of text it began to slow down. I need the speed uniform to sync it with the music in the background.
I could have a 70,000,000,000 frame movie and move each element individually, avoiding the heavy load, but the amount of work on my end this would require would be so astronomical that it just wouldn't be worth it. Ideally I want something like a component that I can dump text into and have it deal with making the scroll speed uniform.
It would also be a major plus point if it could be used/created by another program, so that someone without Adobe Flash could produce a similiar kind of movie simply by putting in their text and MP3 file and hitting a "Generate" button.
I dowloaded and played with the following scroller on this site... [URL] I see where the text is under Actions but I'm wondering if I can input hyperlinks and email links as well or will I only be able to use this with plain text. If formatting and links are allowed, how can I input the text to show as a link. Sorry, I don't know much about flash and just trying to make a simple text box with scrolling capability that will allow hyperlinks, bold, etc...
i'm trying to replace text in a dynamic text field within a movie clip, and it seems as if it's treating it like static text. Is there a way around this?
theBtn1.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, adjustText1);theBtn2.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, adjustText2);function adjustText1(e:MouseEvent):void{ textField1.text = "Foo"; // this works}function
i'm trying to have the text and position changed of a duplicated movie containing a text button. does any one knows how this would be possible?so you have the movie "options" thats being duplicated.in the movie you have the text named sub [code]probably basic actionscripting, but i've been trying more than an hour without any result.
What i'm doing is creating an Inventory System, when you click on an item it is added to your inventory.
I've done that with no problems but id like to add script to the icon of the object. So when you roll over it you see what the object is, through a dynamic text field on stage.
I use this script inside the icon's MC so that when it appears on stage it has its script built into it.[code]...
