I'm trying to find a way to do a scroller that scrolls only 'till the targets bottom reaches the Stage.height.I tried to attach some images explaining but :

Is there a way to get the content of a component inside a scroller to be at 100% height.
here is a simple example:

As you can see, the green bar (set at 100% height) is just using the height of the viewport, not that of it's parent group, that is stretched by the red one to be 500px high.
I am having a little difficulty properly sizing a Scroller component in Adobe Flex/Flash 4. As soon as I add an element to the 'widgetsGroup' VGroup, the scroller's height property resizes to match that of its parent border container, even though the content height of the vGroup may be significantly less than this value. This is a problem because the scroller then 'covers' other elements in the border container. I guess what I am looking for is the scroller height to match the widgetGroup content height until this height exceeds the bordercontainer height, at which point the scroll bar would become visible.

I have a textField with a lot of stuff in it, so I'm creating a scroller using a mask. To do the math to make the scroller work right, I need the height of the textField. But the stuff in it is retrieved from XML and the length of it varies when it is updated, which is quite often. Is there a way I can find the height of just the text in the textField?
View 1 RepliesThe movie clip is a scroller which I download a while back (I can't remember where from now) The contents of the scroller which i want to scroll is a seperate movie clip which loads it's contents from a .txt file. The problems I am having are:
1 - I cannot seem to change the height of the text box movie, I can change it in flash, but when i publish and play it just appears at a set size.
2 - the last link in the contents jumps like crazy when I hoover over it.
3 - when there is less content than the size of the text box I would like the scroller to disapear.
4 - If I add a mask around the text box, the contents disapear, i have in place a custom mask for the mean time but this will have to go.

Is it possible to get the browser height via flash and set the stage height to that value? I know you can set the height to 100% in publish settings, however one of my scroller scripts needs the stage height to be exactly the height of the content area of the browser.

But this seems to just relate to the width/height of the mc that my_loader is nested in...

I was wondering if any of you can spot the error in my code? I got a bunch of objects called 'jelly' that are gonna bounce around my screen but the problem I got is they don't bounce at all! they just run straight off. And yeah I'm very new to actionscript, can anyone see what I'm doing wrong here?

The current linkages are 00 (0x, 0y), and -10 (-1x, 0y). They are comprised of 2 variables, the first one is xmap, and the second is ymap. I want to be able to combine the 2 variables and then attach the clip with that linkage to the stage.

I have spent the last 2 weeks searching the web for a tutorial on content scrolling. I have a movieclip/graphic that I want to scroll from left to right on the stage. Example of what I am trying to do: [URL] but without the vertical scroll. There seems to be a couple of AS2 tutorials around I doing it in AS3.
View 2 RepliesRight now my stage dimensions are 980 X 800 px. I need to cut or "crop out" the bottom portion of the footer because its height is too long. So I changed the stage dimensions to 980 X 600 px (and changed the corresponding dimensions in the embed tag in the index.html file to match). Doing this seems to cut out the bottom but at the same time adds space to the top and seems to distort the overall spacing. Is there a simple way to crop out the bottom of the stage (just like cropping out a section of a photo)?

View 3 RepliesI'm trying to change the position of a movieclip I've added to the stage. When I try to access stage.width or stage.height I get 0. I've tried MovieClip(root).stage, DisplayObject(root).stage, root.stage, stage, and simply width and height. All of these are equal to zero.
