ActionScript 2.0 :: Scrolling Gallery - Tweening / Resizing And Alpha

Jul 8, 2009

I'm making a dynamic gallery to show some products from a catalog. This has to be scrollable only by pressing the left and right navigation buttons (see attached file galleryexplaination_01.png). The number of images varies by case as all the data are read from an XML (already done): all the infos are stored inside every product container (see movieclips structure in attached file galleryexplaination_03.png)

What I can't figure out to do is: how make the object tween (see attached file galleryexplaination_02.png )from a position to the next or previous one? As shown on attached file galleryexplaination_01.png the position are always the same. Also, as the images get distant from the center, they shrink and become more transparent.

I'm thinking to use an onEnterFrame which listens when the central product is changed (by pressing the left and right buttons), understands in which direction scroll the gallery and then, using a for cycle, it takes every product in that direction. But that's all that I've came up. I need some hints because I don't know how to control the image scaling and alpha as the x choord changes.

ActionScript 1/2 :: UIScrollBar, Alpha Tweening And Rendering ?

Jun 14, 2009

I have a dynamic text field which loads data from an xml file, I've embedded the font so that I can tween the motions etc of the text, and so far i've been able to apply a motion tween on the alpha channel and get my text to fade in.The problem is that the UIScrollBar component which is attached to the text field gets stuck at the starting alpha amount and wont tween to the full amount (like the text will) at the moment I'm motion tweening from 33% alpha to 100% alpha and while the text reaches the full 100%, the scrollbar gets stuck at 33%.

is there anyway to get this working?I also have another smaller problem with my UIScrollbar, when it first loads it flickers as a white square in the corner of the text field for a moment before properly rendering. this happens with and without tweening. I've made my own skin for the component, could this be causing the problem somehow?I can work around the alpha issue if it renders properly instantly, and vice versa.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Image Gallery Tweening - Stops When Rolling In

Sep 12, 2010

I use this smooth, nice (and simple) image gallery, and I am very happy with it. However sometimes some of the images stops when rolling in, and I have to press Fw again to jump to the next one. I can't figure out where the bug lies, as I mentioned it appears rarely but it blows up the whole thing.

ActionScript 3 :: Alpha Tweening - Trialing Lasers Do Not Get Darker, Except For A Few Random Lasers?

Jun 2, 2011

I am building a custom preloader which is different than the "traditional" sliding bar that is common in RIAs. The preloader uses 100 white laser lights which are in a straight line, and collectively they indicate the progress bar. Let me describe how this works before I ask my question:

........................,,,,,,,,,:::::::::::::::::::::::::BBBBBBBB and so on...

The above string captures the spirit of the preloader indicator. In this illustration, the bigger and fatter the character, the brighter the laser light in my actual preloader: The farthest laser to the right indicates the currently loaded percentage. This is also the brightest laser light.All other trailing lasers get increasingly dimmer until they become completely black, as if they had burned a whole in the back of the screen.

Step "2" is where things get tricky. For some reason, the trialing lasers do not get darker, except for a few random lasers. Here is a snippet of the code controlling the brightness (or, as I used it, the alpha property) of the dot:

... more code ...

//Build the dots according the configuration and load status parameters
private function buildDots(x:int, y:int):void {
//Draw the dot, details not shown[code].......

This entire preloader is inside of a custom class.The laser lights are created completely by code, without access to the library.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Resizing/fading Dynamic Gallery?

I have a gallery that I built from a tutorial I found online--it has an empty mc with a border around it, and when you click on a thumbnail an image is loaded into the mc and it fades in when it loads in and out.Ofcourse it works fine offline, but when I test it online the image will load in off-center, if you click the thumbnail again (after it has loaded the first time) it loads in the position it should be in. Here is the code I have on the first frame:

Flex :: Photo Gallery - Resizing Image Whilst Keeping It Central

Mar 4, 2010

I am using a mx:Resize effect to change the width of an image in Flex (leaving the height to look after itself) but I want the image to remain vertically centered on the page. Whilst I could calculate the aspect ratio of the photo, and work out the new y value to keep it centred, I would have to include a mx: Move effect too, and I am hopful that Flex has a simpler way. This is for a photo gallery where images are loaded at run-time, and swapped about.

So I really would like to avoid recalculating the aspect ratio and vertical position every time the updateComplete event fires, I tried putting my image inside a mx: VBox with verticalAlign="middle", thinking that the box would do all the centering for me, but this only seems to happen when the app first starts - i need it to gradually adjust the position during the period where the effect plays (to keep it central even when part-way through).

Here's a stripped-down example (which doesn't work):
<mx:Application xmlns:mx="[URL]" layout="absolute" width="600" height="600">
<mx:Resize id="fxResize" target="{imgPhotoA}" widthTo="350" duration="500" />
<mx:Button x="10" y="10" label="Resize" click="fxResize.play()" />
<mx:VBox id="boxPhotoA" x="100" y="20" height="500" width="350" verticalAlign="middle" borderStyle="solid" verticalScrollPolicy="off" horizontalScrollPolicy="off">
<mx:Image id="imgPhotoA" width="60" maintainAspectRatio="true" source="[URL]"/>
</mx:VBox></mx:Application>

ActionScript 3.0 :: Scrolling Image Gallery XML?

Oct 23, 2009

So I've found many people trying to do this[URL].. but with actionscript 3.0 and not 2.0.

I'm not a coder by any means, but I've kinda translated most of it except for the scrolling part.

This is what I have so far:

[Code]...

as you can see, some of it is hidden as I was afraid to delete things I might end up needing later. The position of the gallery is at an exact place, and the xml file is perfect. The only problem I'm having is with the scrolling part. I keep getting an error in the function scrolling code that says that a property of mask_mc is being called wrong. I also have learned that the createEmptyMovieClip is not as3 but as2, and that that is also wrong. I'm just trying to get the scroller to work.

Actionscript 2.0 :: Horizontal Scrolling Gallery?

Feb 18, 2009

I'm developing my portfolio and want to add a horizontal scrolling dynamic gallery (see files). In order to achieve this I combined Lee Brimelow's tutorial on a horizontal scrolling gallery with a tutorial onhow to load images dynamically into a gallery. So far so good... It all seems to work except for the fact that the gallery has to detect the number of images in the scroller and adjust it's width accordingly (which it doesn't do yet). Also it has to make sure it doesn't scroll out of the containing MC (you'll see what I mean when you open the files; it also doesn't do that just yet).

ActionScript 3.0 :: Dynamic Building Scrolling Gallery - XML?

Feb 4, 2009

What I'm trying to do is build a Dynamic XML scrolling gallery, but it's not going to be a gallery, more like scrolling images with links, that when you click on an image, it will take you to the url designated for each image in the XML.I have no experience working with AS3, so far what I've got are things I'm learning trying to build this.The issue:The issue is that when I run the script, the url designated to all the created movie clips have the same url. For example it will use first "link" on the XML on all 4 movie clips (so all the movie clips would be linked to , or it will use the last "link" in the XML for all movie clips (so all the movie clips would be linked to . How may I fix the issue above?

PHP Code:

ActionScript 3.0 :: XML Gallery - HitTestPoint Stop Scrolling?

Jan 18, 2010

I am making an xml driven gallery, with scrolling thumbnails that sit along side of the main image, in a column. These thumbnails scroll depending on the mouses Y position over the column that they sit in. If the mouses position is below the halfway point of the column, the thumbs scroll down, and then if you go above the halfway point the begin to scroll upwards they scroll up until you reach the top image, and it stops...

However, my problem is that when the thumbs have scrolled to the bottom image in the column, unlike when it reaches the top, the scrolling function doesnt stop, it just keeps going until the thumbs have completely scrolled out of shot. What I would like to do is make sure that, the scrolling function stops when it reaches the bottom image; the same as how it stops when it reaches the top...

So if the bottom image rises above the bottom of the column that holds the thumbnails, the thumbs stop scrolling, and will only be able to scroll upwards. Here is the code for the scrolling function that I have:
ActionScript Code:
thumbContainer.addEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME, scrollThumbs);
private function scrollThumbs(e:Event):void {
if (thumbContainerMask.hitTestPoint(stage.mouseX, stage.mouseY, false)) {
