I am trying to make one of those Resizing borders for an image gallery ... Is there an Actionscript 2.0 function that whilst Loading in an external jpeg, Flash can be told the dimensions of the picture it is currently loading > before it has loaded it fully.? ie: getWidth (as a guess). Thus, preparing the size of the border, whilst the image is loading. Or, does it have to initiate that once the jpeg has loaded 100%.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Resizing Flash XML Gallery In Html To Fit Browser?

Dec 12, 2010

When I open up the html in a browser, the image spills off the screen. But if I adjust the broswer by dragging a corner of the window, the scaling starts working and everything fits great. Everytime I load the page or reload it though, it goes back to the default of spilling off the screen. So, it mostly works... unless you don't adjust the broswer manually.Here's the html code:

ActionScript 2.0 :: XML Gallery Dynamic Border?

Just thought I'd see if this is possible with the XML Photo Gallery.1. Is it possible to create a dynamic border for the loaded image depending on the size of the image being loaded? 2. Is it possible to move the Y position of the caption text box depending on the height of the loaded image? ie if the image is 200 pixels high, then the text box should be positioned at 220 pixels.The current code I have which loads the images then automatically scrolls through them is:

Code:

ActionScript 2.0 :: Gallery Resize Border Loading Swf

Dec 15, 2005

Currently I am using the gallery that has been posted on a link on Kirupa.com where it uses XML and loads in my case .swfs into a border that resizes according to the size of what is loaded. The reason I am using .swfs is because I plan to somehow make it so that the artwork being loaded can be zoomed in on once they are loaded, how I am not sure quite yet. Anyway, I was wondering if anyone could please tell me why that sometimes the .swfs load once or twice and then when clicking on other artwork thumbnails they do not load at all. THis just happens for the swfs and not when I would use the jpegs instead of swfs. The swfs just do not seem to be loading as planned, sometimes one or two load sometimes none. Was wondering if someone knew why this is happening and could please give me some help if possible, maybe pertaining to actionscript?[code]

ActionScript 2.0 :: Adding Fancy Border To Scotty's Image Gallery?

Feb 16, 2007

I'm encountering a weird glitch when I try to use a more complex image border: the image container and the text caption both jump into place at the last moment. A bad effect. All I've done is add two more variables, "w2" and "w3" to the code:

Code:
var w = container._width+spacing, h = container._height+spacing;
var w2 = container._width+space2, h2 = container._height+space2;
var w3 = container._width+space3, h3 = container._height+space3;
border.resizeMe(w, h, id);
border2.resizeMe(w2, h2, id);
border3.resizeMe(w3, h3, id);

The only way I can find to keep the border shapes in correct proportion is to create 3 different border clips and apply the "resizeMe" easing function to each of them.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Scrolling Gallery - Tweening / Resizing And Alpha

Jul 8, 2009

I'm making a dynamic gallery to show some products from a catalog. This has to be scrollable only by pressing the left and right navigation buttons (see attached file galleryexplaination_01.png). The number of images varies by case as all the data are read from an XML (already done): all the infos are stored inside every product container (see movieclips structure in attached file galleryexplaination_03.png)

What I can't figure out to do is: how make the object tween (see attached file galleryexplaination_02.png )from a position to the next or previous one? As shown on attached file galleryexplaination_01.png the position are always the same. Also, as the images get distant from the center, they shrink and become more transparent.

I'm thinking to use an onEnterFrame which listens when the central product is changed (by pressing the left and right buttons), understands in which direction scroll the gallery and then, using a for cycle, it takes every product in that direction. But that's all that I've came up. I need some hints because I don't know how to control the image scaling and alpha as the x choord changes.

Flex :: Photo Gallery - Resizing Image Whilst Keeping It Central

Mar 4, 2010

I am using a mx:Resize effect to change the width of an image in Flex (leaving the height to look after itself) but I want the image to remain vertically centered on the page. Whilst I could calculate the aspect ratio of the photo, and work out the new y value to keep it centred, I would have to include a mx: Move effect too, and I am hopful that Flex has a simpler way. This is for a photo gallery where images are loaded at run-time, and swapped about.

So I really would like to avoid recalculating the aspect ratio and vertical position every time the updateComplete event fires, I tried putting my image inside a mx: VBox with verticalAlign="middle", thinking that the box would do all the centering for me, but this only seems to happen when the app first starts - i need it to gradually adjust the position during the period where the effect plays (to keep it central even when part-way through).

Here's a stripped-down example (which doesn't work):
<mx:Application xmlns:mx="[URL]" layout="absolute" width="600" height="600">
<mx:Resize id="fxResize" target="{imgPhotoA}" widthTo="350" duration="500" />
<mx:Button x="10" y="10" label="Resize" click="fxResize.play()" />
<mx:VBox id="boxPhotoA" x="100" y="20" height="500" width="350" verticalAlign="middle" borderStyle="solid" verticalScrollPolicy="off" horizontalScrollPolicy="off">
<mx:Image id="imgPhotoA" width="60" maintainAspectRatio="true" source="[URL]"/>
</mx:VBox></mx:Application>

Actionscript 3 :: Resizing A Sprite Without Resizing Its BitmapFill (or Its Contents For That Matter)?

Nov 1, 2010

I am not simply trying to contain things and have the container resize without the contents resizing. I would just use a simple MovieClip for that.. My main focus is on the use of BitmapFill. I'm trying to make a repeating background image for a container; thus far I'm able to draw my BitmapFill sprite to the size I want. (Which is the stage's height) but when the stage is resized, I want to re-size my container but have my containers BitmapFill crop or add more as the window is resized bigger or smaller. Allow me to illustrate what I mean:

I've got a simple rectangle sprite that fills with a bitmap from the library and a simple resize handler function that detects when the window has been resized.what I would like to do is have my rectangle resize to the height of the stage.stageHeight maintaining its bitmap fill, but not resizing the bitmap fill or any children within the sprite.

From what I've read, this is a little tricky because the sprite resizes in relation to what it contains.. or.. something like that.. I really don't know any more.. I saw one example where a person extended the sprite class but I don't know why or how..

in my library there is an image called 'pattern' and my code looks like this:

stage.align = StageAlign.TOP_LEFT;
stage.scaleMode = StageScaleMode.NO_SCALE;
stage.addEventListener(Event.RESIZE, resizeHandler, false, 0, true);

Professional :: Convert A JQuery Lightbox Style Gallery Into A Flash XML Based Image Gallery With Categories?

Oct 26, 2010

I've made a gallery slideshow before but wasn't as intuitive looking back at it now and I want to start fresh on this new project. I would like to convert a jQuery lightbox style gallery into a flash XML based AS3 image gallery with categories. I don't want to code the FLA, I want separate AS files.

This is a school project for my website. I would use jQuery and I have more experience with it but this project needs a flash component. I'm just not sure where to start and looking for some advice on how and where I could find resources. I want it to be minimal as I can make it;

- 8 thumbnails to a "page/section" with more flowed into page 2 or 3 etc. (or a srcoller)

- a few buttons for categories

- images fading in full size with a description when hovered over and a close button

- preloader (simple bar)

Esentially something like this > http:[url].........works which is using http:[url].... for the thumbnails. That might be ambitious but I'd suffice with a simple fade effect.I've downloaded some galleries out there but most of the code is messy or outdated.http:[url]... this is alright, but all the code is done in the FLA. I might break it into AS files but it depends.

ActionScript 2.0 :: XML For Gallery From Tutorial 'photo Gallery Using XML And Flash'?

Jan 15, 2010

i am trying to put some things together following the tutorials on this site. I did the tutorial 'Photo Gallery Using XML and Flash'and I followed it step by step and uploaded it with all the necessary files onto my remote server (xml file, Gallery folder, fla, swf, and html) - however, when I test the movie with flash, it seems to work fine (except the description test, my question to that later), but when I test it online it shows only the first image (but displays the correct number of images in the gallery); even when clicking the next button, it keeps loading the first image the first image. In other galleries (I use the structure for multiple galleries for my portfolio) the first image never loads at all.

Also, about the description text, in between the <caption> and </caption>, can I use <strong> and <em> and <br /> to change the appearance of my text? All it says is 'null'.If you want to look at what I mean check out my portfolio in the making. The problem with the first image displaying only is under 'paintings' and both the projects in 'design - packaging'. The second problem (no picture loading at all) is on some of the buttons in 'design - identity' (where I have not changed the description text of the tutorial yet).
Again,

Flash :: Show The Border Of Every Movieclip?

Aug 16, 2011

how you display a border around every MovieClip in Flash. I've done it once but I can't seem to find it at all. What happens is that a blue (I think) box is drawn for the bounding box of the movieclip, and it does this for every movieclip automatically, so I don't think it's creating a border manually for every movieclip you add.

In addition this box doesn't rotate with the movieclip, instead it is just a square that completely surrounds the movieclip. If the movieclip rotates, the square just gets bigger or smaller to match.
