Currently I am using the gallery that has been posted on a link on Kirupa.com where it uses XML and loads in my case .swfs into a border that resizes according to the size of what is loaded. The reason I am using .swfs is because I plan to somehow make it so that the artwork being loaded can be zoomed in on once they are loaded, how I am not sure quite yet. Anyway, I was wondering if anyone could please tell me why that sometimes the .swfs load once or twice and then when clicking on other artwork thumbnails they do not load at all. THis just happens for the swfs and not when I would use the jpegs instead of swfs. The swfs just do not seem to be loading as planned, sometimes one or two load sometimes none. Was wondering if someone knew why this is happening and could please give me some help if possible, maybe pertaining to actionscript?[code]
Im trying to load a startup photo from a folder "images" with Scottys re-size gallery script. Is there a way to load the latest edited (uploaded) file, from this folder? I can't post fla since its too big.
I have a MainPage, on initialize I am calling a method which would create a SWFLoader object (aka LoginPage) and loads it in the MainPage. When we run the MainPage in 800x500 window, the LoginPage loads in that window size, however when we maximize the window the content of the LoginPage gets resized to 1027X660, but the border remains 800x500, and the remainig area of the window stays blank.
I am going to make an image gallery that loads jpg's. Around the jpg is going to be a border that resizes depending on the demensions of the image. I want the border to expand so that it encompasses the image, BUT i dont want the width of the border to change. SO, would this work:
Break the border up into 4 MC's (topbar, bottombar, leftbar, rightbar), and have the topbar and bottombar's width resize according to the jpg loaded, aswell as its _y postion change according to the height of the jpg, and have the side bars height resize according to the height of the jpg and its x position change according to the width of the jpg. If it did it right, could this result in a border that resizes depending on the demension of the dynamically loaded jpg, but the actualy width of the boarder all the way around stays the same? I'm thinking that I'm correct, but just wanted to make sure there wasnt any glaring problems before I procceded.

how i can use this script with attachMovie(); . Im trying to create a border that auto resizes when MCs (basically just an image imported into an mc) load. This will be expoted as a projetor then burned onto a CD. I just need them to load from the library.
Heres what i have so far:
space = 10; photo_mc._alpha = 0; MovieClip.prototype.loadPhoto = function(photo) {
I have a background with a border that is behind dynamic images. I am trying to resize the background to custom fit each jpg that is loaded. However, I cannot get the width/height from the movieclip the jpgs are loaded into and I can't get the width/height from the jpgs.
If i cant get a border to auto resize to the MC as MC's are load with attachMovie(); , can i get a border to animate a resize to a specific ._height, ._width (also with a var speed = #)? Am i just totally F'ing this thing up or what. Heres and example: [URL] i would make a second frame and have the AS for the border load a different value and a new MC.
Just thought I'd see if this is possible with the XML Photo Gallery.1. Is it possible to create a dynamic border for the loaded image depending on the size of the image being loaded? 2. Is it possible to move the Y position of the caption text box depending on the height of the loaded image? ie if the image is 200 pixels high, then the text box should be positioned at 220 pixels.The current code I have which loads the images then automatically scrolls through them is:
I have a cool xml gallery designed by Scotty. I was wondering what actionscript could I use to add a gray border around each thumbnail and whenever the user rolls over the thumbnail, the border turns to white? Has anyone done this sort of thing before with an XML gallery? [code]...
I have added 3 staggered backgrounds behind each picture that act as a tri-color border around the image, named borderOuter, borderMiddle, borderInner. When i click on the thumbnail, i would like the border to disappear. [code]...
get a border onRollOver in my thumbnails gallery. I've tried the photo and thumbnails gallery and played with stringy's files to accomplish this but still haven't been able to get it to work.
I'm have set up a photo gallery using the 'Kirupa Xml and flash gallery tutorial' and I wanted to use this but implement the border resizing function featured in the galleries on in the 'Howd he do this? Resizing slideshow' thread.
Here is the code for my gallery:
Code: function loadXML(loaded) { if (loaded) { xmlNode = this.firstChild;
I'm encountering a weird glitch when I try to use a more complex image border: the image container and the text caption both jump into place at the last moment. A bad effect. All I've done is add two more variables, "w2" and "w3" to the code:
Code: var w = container._width+spacing, h = container._height+spacing; var w2 = container._width+space2, h2 = container._height+space2; var w3 = container._width+space3, h3 = container._height+space3; border.resizeMe(w, h, id); border2.resizeMe(w2, h2, id); border3.resizeMe(w3, h3, id);
The only way I can find to keep the border shapes in correct proportion is to create 3 different border clips and apply the "resizeMe" easing function to each of them.
i am building an editor which allows you to resize images and to do this (once an image is selected) I add a visible border to the image that allows you to resize the image. so i want to have a function something like,
[Code]....
and i have to call this redrawborder function inside the MOUSE_MOVE listener that controls the resizing (so that i am constantly removing and redrawing the border). constantly removing and redrawing the frame seems very inefficient. is there some property or better why to do this? i want to have, displayobj.scaleChildren = false or something like that
I want to create a photo gallery where the photos don't have to be the same size. I need the photo border or container to smoothly resize to accomadate each new image.
I found this great thread Scotty's Image Resize Gallery and have been playing around with some of the files. The one things no-one has mentioned in all of the posts, is how you might be able to customise the border.I see where it is written in the code, but what I really need to do is create a scribbly line rather than a straight one. It seems best to create mc and then have this re-size and stretch as the images re-size.
I have a flash image gallery that loads images through xml. Images have to be croped for thumbnails. So u have to have two folders, one for the thumbnails an another file for the big size images. I would like to know if there is a way to load only one image ( and not this image's thumbnail too) and with a script or something, to resize this image to get the thumbnail. To make my self clearer here is the xml code:
image../gallery_flash/imageGallery/images/watches/i1005.jpg image thumb../gallery_flash/imageGallery/thumbs/watches/i1005.jpg thumb
(For some reason it doesnt show the xml right...) I dont want to have the line (thumb>../gallery_flash.), but only load one image and get the thumbnail also.
Before I go and spend a number of hours trying to figure it out - has anyone made the following improvements to Scotty's "V3_with_thumbs" gallery?[url]...
1) Gallery menu is fed by the XML doc and not hardcoded in Flash.
2) Next and Previous buttons (in addition to the thumbnail buttons)
3) Icing on the cake: "Slideshow" button that loops through the chosen gallery thumbnails. Probably needs to be a toggle button to stop the loop too.
I'm working on an xml driven flash website where clients can modify an xml file directly to change the appearance of the site (eventually i'll make a flash/php dashboard GUI). The site will have listings each with a photo.I'm trying to find a way around having the clients have to crop images to thumbnail and enlarged view size themselves. In other words the images would be displayed scaled to fit within a movie clip.
i am loading JPG images into movie clips, then drawing a border around them with this code:
Code: var frameColor:Number = 0xffffff; var lineThick:Number = 1;[code]..............
i am resizing the movieclips (and thus the contained pictures) down to 160 x 120, but those pixel values didn't work in my lineTo statements. i multiplied them by 3, using 480 and 360 and it works better. however, the behavior isn't consistent. i am attaching a picture so you can see how the border is too tall on some of the images.so, is there a better way to use pixel dimensions with lineTo? does the scaling factor between flash vector units and pixels change between movieclips depending on what content i load into the movie clip?
I am using the fla's that were posted on [URL] regarding the image gallery where the box scales and resizes depending on what it loads(using XML) within it. The boxe's top left stays static which is the goal and the rest resizes according to what loads. Now inside the actionscript it has spacing of 10 which puts space around the bottom and right sides of the image that is loaded but does not put spacing on the left and top. I m trying to get the space so it is on the top and left also, basically so the image loaded is centered within the border. To clarify more simply I just want a even border around the images that it loads. Here is a link to the files being used: [URL] Also for some reason when I tried testing to download the .fla myself from the above link it loaded a page with a whole lot of characters.
Anybody has an idea how to accomplish something similar with the gallery in this website?
I have an XML gallery in my project that has pre-specified numbers of columns. - How it could be possible to detect user's screen resolution (use of Event.RESIZE?) and according to this to change the number of columns - and of course rows?
Forgot to mention that I load records from a database so I am not aware of the total number of images...
How would you defer loading of other graphics on the page until after the images in a Flash gallery's images.xml file are finished loading?Is there any way to detect for this, or would I only be able to check if the flash swf object is finished loading? I'm pretty sure the swf object would be loaded/ready as with document.getElementById('flashobject').onload = function(){}; before the corresponding images have loaded though, instead of after.
And just loved the way it looked, anyone have any idea how to get a similar effect using ideally CSS/JS and if not then using flash? Furthermore it would be excellent if you could move to the next slide by clicking on the image itself.I'm also wondering how she is able to maintain height of the images when resizing (unless she is doing it manually which I doubt now days).
Anyone knows a sample code/source, tutorial or example like this gallery: [URL] (resize the browser window to see the effect) What i want is a thumbnail gallery that shows more lines and/or columns according to user resolution (not is necessary to resize the images). It's the same idea when using HTML and creating a thumbnail list with <li> and "float:left".
