ActionScript 3.0 :: Image Gallery Tweening - Stops When Rolling In
Sep 12, 2010
I use this smooth, nice (and simple) image gallery, and I am very happy with it. However sometimes some of the images stops when rolling in, and I have to press Fw again to jump to the next one. I can't figure out where the bug lies, as I mentioned it appears rarely but it blows up the whole thing.

I've set up a movie clip on the main stage with three other movie clips inside it called left, middle, and right. Now, I used the following color fading script: [URL] to call "fadeRGB" on the three movie clips inside the other clip in order to make them change color. This works fine. But, after they are faded, the movie clip which contains the three has a bunch of tweens of the three clips moving around, but after the fade all calls of gotoAndPlay on the containing movieclip result in nothing happening. Before I call the fade function, the tweening works without a hitch.

I'm trying to do this: When I roll over a button, an image appears. I have three buttons and 1 image per button that corresponds with it. When I roll out, the image disappears. I have most of it figured out, but the part that gets me is how to make each button correspond to one image. Right now when I roll over all three buttons, it only shows the image the first button should.

I was visiting this site mentioned in a book about flash we sites [URL]. and i really got curious about the effect of the picture in the background. when you roll over the area they practically have an alpha tween...but i think it's not just alpha tween...i noticed that the brightest parts of the image you have rolling over are also the darkest when the Tween begin. is kind of "selective alphaTween"?.

I'm making a dynamic gallery to show some products from a catalog. This has to be scrollable only by pressing the left and right navigation buttons (see attached file galleryexplaination_01.png). The number of images varies by case as all the data are read from an XML (already done): all the infos are stored inside every product container (see movieclips structure in attached file galleryexplaination_03.png)
What I can't figure out to do is: how make the object tween (see attached file galleryexplaination_02.png )from a position to the next or previous one? As shown on attached file galleryexplaination_01.png the position are always the same. Also, as the images get distant from the center, they shrink and become more transparent.
I'm thinking to use an onEnterFrame which listens when the central product is changed (by pressing the left and right buttons), understands in which direction scroll the gallery and then, using a for cycle, it takes every product in that direction. But that's all that I've came up. I need some hints because I don't know how to control the image scaling and alpha as the x choord changes.

I have an image that tweens in under a mask, then when a button is clicked a new image appears in the same way further down the timeline. When the button is clicked, the old image disappears and the new image appears as the mask reveals it. This leaves a blank spot in its place on the page a very brief period while the new image is being revealed. What I would like to do is have the old image stay visible (not suddenly disappear) in the background (when the button is clicked) until the new image completely appears over it and covers it up. Placing the old image in a new layer under the new image is not an option because there are so many images that they could jump to or from that it is impossible to predict which image they would go to next, so I need to find a way to keep the previous image still visible.

I'm currently producing my first website in Flash CS3 and have just encountered a problem with a transitional effect I'm experimenting with: Transitional effect uses the Flash Blur filter set to 10 (X andY) on the first frame to 0 on the last frame (Medium quality). This is used with an alpha setting of 50% on the first frame to 100% on the last frame.
The .fla is using the default setting of 12fps. When I preview the transitional effect, various multi-coloured horizontal lines appear randomly on the images during the tween, and some remain visible once the tween is complete. Would this be because the blur filter cannot be used effectively together with different alpha settings?
Maybe the frame rate for the animation is set too low?

I am trying to add an alpha tween to my UILoader that is linked to a folder of images so that they fade between images when you click on the "next" or "prev" buttons, as well as a preloader status for each image as it loads in (although that is less important, as most connections load in the images fast enough, but perhaps a preloader for the initial image would be good)... Here is what I have, as of now everything is set up to work without a tween or preloader...

I am looking to create a slideshow with different shaped images and I wanted to create a boarder around the image which will expand and contract around any image even if it is out of sequence. I can't find an example online at the minute eventhough I have seen the effect several times but this link has a similar effect when looking at the photos...[URL]..
The bottom of the page moves up and down to accomodate the shape of the images. The difference is I want the whole image to be surrounded and the boarder to change vertically and horizontally.
I hope this is clear. Are there any tutorials I should look at? Is there a specific name for this effect which I could do a google search for a tutorial because I can't seem to find anything.

I am working on a project for a client, and our designer has created a very large (7000px wide by about 600px high) image, which is split up into several 'screens'. The image is one long continuous image, so can't really be 'chopped up'. There are left/right arrows on either side of the scene which, when clicked, go to the next screen and play a short animation (basic movieclip fades/movement etc) for that screen.
My problem is that the panning left and right is starting to get a bit jerky - most likely Flash not being able to cope with tweening such a large image. Is there an easy alternative to using tweens in this case? I'm using TweenLite (AS3). I am happy to provide an SFW/FLA, but only in private to an experienced developer, hope thats ok.

I've made a gallery slideshow before but wasn't as intuitive looking back at it now and I want to start fresh on this new project. I would like to convert a jQuery lightbox style gallery into a flash XML based AS3 image gallery with categories. I don't want to code the FLA, I want separate AS files.
This is a school project for my website. I would use jQuery and I have more experience with it but this project needs a flash component. I'm just not sure where to start and looking for some advice on how and where I could find resources. I want it to be minimal as I can make it;
- 8 thumbnails to a "page/section" with more flowed into page 2 or 3 etc. (or a srcoller)
- a few buttons for categories
- images fading in full size with a description when hovered over and a close button
- preloader (simple bar)
Esentially something like this > http:[url].........works which is using http:[url].... for the thumbnails. That might be ambitious but I'd suffice with a simple fade effect.I've downloaded some galleries out there but most of the code is messy or outdated.http:[url]... this is alright, but all the code is done in the FLA. I might break it into AS files but it depends.

I'm trying to tween a large image 6917x1500px. I'm moving the x,y and scaling this image. It's a jpeg, and the image really chuggs at certain sections. Has anyone tweened an object this large before? Should I be trying tween lite? I don't think that will work, because it just has less settings.

I'm trying to find out how to make a simple image gallery which changes image upon a mouse click on a button, when a button is pressed I want the image to slide in from the left into the viewable area and then when another image is selected I want the previous image that was viewed to remain in the screen and then the new image slide across over the top to replace the image.
I can get the images to slide across from the left upon a mouse click however I can't change the layer order so if image 6 is viewed and then I click to see image 1, the image will slide into place however it will be below image 6 so therefore not viewable.
I don't have an example of what I'm after but I hope my explanation was good enough, I've seen this been done in javascript but I have to use flash and am unable to replicate the effect I'm after

I have this piece of code to change images. I was trying to figure out how you could put a timer on the code, so if the image has been displayed for say 5 seconds it diverts to the next image automatically? Also if it's not to hard, when it has played to the end to divert to the 1st image.

I have found an excellent tutorial and source file for a 3D image gallery. However I would like to make the thumbnail click thorugh to a url link when pressed rather than loading the image into the gallery.
Currently the images load in through actionscript. Is there a way to amend this script so you can specify that a thumbnail clicked links through to a url, like you would with a normal button instance rather than loading the image. Here is a link to the file and tutorial. The actionscript is on the top layer within the file.[URL]...

I have run into a drag and drop issue .I have an item that I would like to drag and drop. Seems simple enough, but I also want to make it that if the user drags the image off the screen, that it stops dragging and returns the image to the center of the screen. What happens now is that it continues dragging and sticks to the cursor if you release outside of the viewable area. The original piece has a lot of other things going on, so I ve created a simple piece with the AS in the timeline that shows only this particular issue.
Code:
var mrT:MC_mrT = new MC_mrT;
addChild(mrT);
mrT.x = stage.stageWidth*.5;[code].............

I am am not a developer but have bought a template which I am modifying to suit my needs. I have made most of the modifications but and stuck on how to change the animation for the image gallery. When I move from one picture to the next the animation effect is something like a bubble burst. This is too flamboyant for me. I would like to change it to something more sleek but have no clue where to start.

I have an image gallery but I can't seem to get the previous image removed. I have two functions:
ActionScript Code:
function clearLoader():void {
try {
var li:LoaderInfo = slideLoader.contentLoaderInfo;
[Code]....
But in some way not the previous image is removed, but the one before that. Annoying, because if image 1 is larger than image 2, image 1 stays on the background. It is only when loading image 3 the first image is removed from the stage.

So I'm having some trouble modifying this script. I have a text box so a user can go to a certain image (In my case page). So if the user type 5 it should go to image 5I've tried numerous methods, none of which are working (they work but then my next and previous buttons aren't working properly). I know I need to just get go to the number image in the array but the way the script is set up it seems I would have to change the current position value but that doesn't seem to be the case.Am I over complicating this?
ActionScript Code:
function loadXML(loaded) {
f (loaded) {

I would like to be able to add the functionality of being able to load different galleries from a menu without loading a new mc with gallery inside it. I managed to botch the file up pretty good on my own, and was wondering if there is a ready answer nearby.So I'm thinking have but1, but2 and but3, with a seperate xml file for each. What would you recommend for a smooth way to swap the the xml files to the gallery, and load the first image of the new xml file? Also, can it be done with one big ol' xml file while keeping the galleries seperate? It's not necessary, but could be handy, and save some loading.It would also be interesting to apply the same principle to the resizing script that Scotty has in that big Resizing thread, just a thought.
