ActionScript 2.0 :: Shape Movement Vs Camera Offset FLA's

Ive been looking at the following tutorial: [URK] but i can't seem to get it to work. If anyone has completed this tutorial, is there any chance of you uploading the fla for me to play with...?? Im trying to use the Star/Space effect located at the bottom of the page.

I am trying to make a flash website in which users navigate around a 3D model scene to access the content of the site. Is this even possible? I've scene other sites do this but I'm not sure if it's video or 3D. If so I could really use some help with camera movement in response to button clicks.

I am a newbie in Flash ActionScript. I am trying to capture an image using webcam via Flash. I managed to do this but I have encountered a problem in which: When I moved my head to the right, the video in Flash is showing that my head is moving on the opposite direction.
guess to be clearer:
Try on Facebook and click "add photos/videos" on the status update.
Click on "Use Webcam" and allow webcam.
You'll notice that when it is in "video" mode, when you move your head to the right, the screen will show that your head is moving in the opposite direction.
Now, click on the icon on the top right to switch to "photo" mode. Now, when you move your head to the right, the screen will show that your head is moving to the right as well!

I'm developing a flash application. I am looking for a simple way to animate my camera's movement. Is there any built in tweening library that supports the camera object? I've checked out greensock.com, but I couldn't figure out how to use their libraries for the camera object.
EDIT: by camera I mean the viewing perception. Not a real hard drive web camera.

Let's say you have a room, and a little circle representing the player. Let's say also that you decide to draw a shape overlapping the room, set alpha to 0%, and use hitTestPoint() between this shape and the player to create the movement boundary. In short, as long as the player's centerpoint is overlapping the invisible shape, he/she is free to move around.Now, I decided to make things more complicated and add an obstacle to the room - a table in the center. One would think that cutting a rectangle out of the middle of the invisible shape would prevent the player from being able to move there. No dice, the player passes right through the hole in the middle of the invisible shape. The problem, as I see it, is that when the shape is converted to a symbol for use in actionscript, the entire volume of the movie clip is used for collision detection, not just the shape's volume. No matter what options and settings I play with, I can't get the hole in the shape to stay cut-out when I convert the whole thing to a symbol.
Now, I know I could probably add an extra shape to represent the obstacle, and add extra collision detection into my actionscript. However, given that there will be a large number of rooms in the game, and a variable number of obstacles in each room, this is not an elegant solution. The most elegant solution would be to figure out a way to map the playable area in a room with a single movie clip (/graphic).So, I turn to you fine folk. Can anyone tell me how to convert a shape to any kind of symbol, and preserve features like holes within the shape (as in, not have them glazed over as part of the symbol's body

I try to archieve a Tooltip-Design with an organic/liquid behaviour.In the end, it should look something like this:The behaviour should be, that when the mouse/cursor is moving, the Tooltips tail reshapes and followes the new coordinate while the body-part of the tooltip is following with an ease:As you can see in the motion-scibble I've already break down the Shape to its grounds Little Big Planet got a similar effect. Here your can see a part where they use a simple version of this Tail-Feature (which got only 3 Points and a Bezierlin I guess) and here you can see a Video where those Goodie-Bubbles came up and followed the character on a string. I love this Game for GUI-Events like this I guess the best technique would be to create a bitmap and then draw with the Flash-internal Drawing API Bezierlines and fill them. As simple as its to write this setence as hard I find it to realize this.
I've spend some hours playing with Bitmap-Examples and the BezierSegment-Function. I doint get very far. So I would like to know: Does anyone else done this befor? Maybe its not neccesarry to reinvent the wheel if someone else did something like this before and I can take a shortcut to find out how this is made. Speaking about the tail for example, it must have something to do with the fact, that each Point in the tail-part must be in a relative position to its neighbor-Point so they doint allign or even overlap and forming negative spaces like this:

I am capturing camera on flex for android using air 3.1,and found that the camera is only showing the a part of of actual camera video.When i view camera using normal camera application in android galaxy tab, it shows full camera area but when i am capturing the camera in flex its showing only the center area for it.I tried using setMode to set the resolution, but its not of any use.Is there any way to get full camera area captured inside flex using camera.getCamera ?

From a Flash object, I would like to be able to detect the presence of a webcam that the user might grant access to, without actually asking the user whether they want to grant access. This is to streamline a large application that has extra features if a webcam exists — if there is a webcam, the application will present several dialogs that lead up to the normal cam-security prompt, but if the user doesn't have the hardware, I want to skip over them altogether. Requesting access to the cam before those dialogs won't make sense to the user.
It appears not to be possible to call Camera.getCamera() without the security prompt happening. Is there a workaround? (For instance, could I, perhaps, call getCamera in a hidden Flash object and inspect its return value, or does it block until the user acknowledges the security prompt?)

I have a video capture device on a machine. I have written a windows application to capture the video from this device. While capturing, if i try to broadcast using flash it does not connect. If i'm already broadcasting and then try to capture then my windows application does not get the capture pin of the device. So, flash seems to be taking the capture pin. Is there anyway to broadcast using the preview pin on the device so that i can capture using my application. Or is there way where i can split the capture pin and give one to my app and one to the broadcaster

Usually Adobe Flash applications can access any usb-webcam.I have a USB camera for microscopes which understands TWAIN and DirectShow.Is there a possibility to access the video data from this camera with flash?

Id like to know if there is a way to do a shape hitTest.Not as the normal hitTest would do, but shape colliding another shape, not the rectangleof a movieclip.It can be in a movieclip.

so I'm working on an app requiring me to lay some simple HTML as multicolumn text, and hacking around w/ g.skinner's old regexp method of reflowing as3 TextFields. I'll be happy to share this code if I can get it working. No desire to get into screwing with text.engine at this point, and this has to be back compatible to FP9 anyway.
So I'm back-and-forth parsing from likely break points to determine if we're in a tag here, and jump ahead to the end of it if we are. The ridiculous issue I'm up against is simply that there doesn't seem to be a TextField method for getting the htmlText offset -- NOT the visible text offset -- of a character. Is there a way to do that?

I need to check (for my own good reasons) whether the cursor is located within the bounds of a particular object. I'm using a simple code to do this...

This, theoretically, should work perfectly! However, there is an offset (and one I did NOT set, mind you!) of about 16 between the hsSlot1's visual position (where it appears to start on the screen) and hsSlot1.x. There is a similar offset on the y axis, but I haven't measured it yet.The only thing I can think of for this is that hsSlot1 is an instance of a button (one with only one state at that) that was scaled to fit. However, I don't think that is it, because the numbers show that the entire object is merely offset at its current size.

im trying to actionscript a simple animation where a combination of MC's move towards areas on the screen triggred by mouse events.What would be the best way of gradually ofsetting a MC, with the control to stop them with further mouse events.I have used tweens (example below) but i need to be able to stop them mid tween, i have tried using if statement to stop the clip but i cant seem to overide the tween.I have limited experience but im guessing a time based loop that i could supply an if statement withbooleons would be my answer. Are time loops possible with actionscript 3.(my thinking is(mouse event. start time based loop -offseting MC- Mouse Event 2 stops loop with if. )

How do I determine where an MC's center is relative to its edges?
I'm developing a tool that a variety of noobs (as if I'm not still a noob) will be using, and I don't trust them to keep art with 0,0 being the top left corner.
How do I figure out that the left edge is now at -111px, and the top at -52, and the right at 12, and the bottom at 334?
Or what if they draw it so the left edge is at 56px and the right edge at 583?
Essentially, I want to determine the center of my artwork, wherever it is relative to the center of the MC

I've developed an FLEX application for distributed data administration. When our Asian employees specify a date, it will be saved +1 day.If I check my timezone offset it is +60, their offset is +520.

I assume this is the problem? If so, would you suggest that I correct the entered date by 460 minutes before sending it to our server for saving? How to do that?

I've ran into a weird problem with getCharBoundaries, I could not figure out what coordinate space the coordinates returned from the function was in. What ever I tried I could not get it to match up with what I expected. So I made a new project and and added simple code to highlight the last charater in a textfield, and all of a sudden it worked fine. I then tried to copy over the TextField that had been causing me problems, into the new project. And now the same weird offset appeared 50px on the x axis.Everything else was spot on. So after some headscracthing comparing the two TextFields, I simply can not see a difference in their properties or transformation.
So I was hoping that someone might now what property might affect the coordinates returned by getCharBoundaries.
