I have this code for my asp mailform. What I want is to be able to set onRollover on my textfields. It doesn't work directly on the textfields so I have to convert to mc and so on.That I know, what I cant figure out is how to write in this code when the textfields are inside an mc?
I try to get height of the textfield with htmlText='<img src="path/to/img.png" /><p>...Some text....</p>';To retrieve text height I use myField.textHeight property. But it always returns height of text without image.
I have a movieclip that contains a textfield inside of it. This MovieClip has 2 frames, with the graphic changing colors in both frames and textfield staying the same.I have applied this code to it:
I've created an animated scene in Flash, with a bar chart.The bar is a MovieClip symbol containing a large rectangle and a TextField.I'd like to access the TextField using actionscript, but I can't seem to reference it.
Each bar in the scene has its own instance name, so that's easy to find.
But how do I modify the text in the textfield within the symbols?
I can't figure out how they create clickable buttons around the text that has associated changes. The button even shifts with the text so that it remains in the correct spot as I type in front of it.
I have an array of rectangular Sprites and ann array of Text Fields. On a certain condition, I want to change the fill colour of some of these Sprites and make the TextFields inside these Sprites editable. I tried the following:
var outerBox_Arr:Array = new Array(); for(var j:int=0; j<8;j++) {
I have another problem I create a button in the library, it has a background graphic on a layer and a textField, the textField has a instance name defined in the properties panels and some text. I manually place some instance of the button on stage, I give them different instance names and voilà a new problem arise when with actionscript I try to assign a new text to the textField inside a button it throws me error 1119. A quick look at the menu option debug ->list objects, shows me that the instance name of the textField inside the button it is not what I defined but it was replaced with some random name like "instance66"I did a test with a movieclip instead of a button and I can correctly access my textField with the instance name that I manually defined. Why that can be the same with the button? And if for some arcane reason cant be possible to access a manually defined instance inside a button WHY flash give me the possibility to give an instance name to a dynamic textField inside a button?
In a CS3/As3 project I have xml files with html content loaded in a texfiled inside a mc. In some cases I have swf files embedded with img tag in the xml. The problem is that when a swf is loaded this way It keeps 'living', playing with sounds in the background when other xml files and swf are loaded in the texfiled. Then, every time it is loaded, a new instance of the swf is created and played.I have found out you can refer to the loader object with getImageReference method giving an id to img tag and, for example, adding an Event.COMPLETE listener to the loader. But I don't know how to access to the loaded swf to unload it or at least stop it (mc_name.texfiled_name.swf_id doesn't seem to work in AS3)Does anybody know if it is possible?
This code work in flash, but when i try run using adobe air 2, the enter key is not detected, but instead ctrl+enter work. how to get this work? txtTLF is TLF TEXT EDITABLE
import flash.events.TextEvent; txtTLF.addEventListener(TextEvent.TEXT_INPUT, teclado); function teclado(e:TextEvent):void{
Is there any way to create links inside large textfields without setting the textfield as an HTML textfield? I don't want to set the link to all the text in the textfield, only to some words in the text.
I have a bunch of objects with TextFields in them that are added to another object called Field.[code]If it is a player, and I can scale it, why can't I access the textField?

I have a basic input textfield that's inside a couple of movieclips. I have it set to input, and the cursor obediently appears when it's focused. However, any typing on the keyboard yields absolutely nothing. I'm curious as to what needs to happen to an input textfield to actually allow it to grow to become the input textfield it was meant to be. Now, the whole deal runs just fine when tested from the Flash IDE, but once it is published and embedded online it's hopelessly useless. I have two fields, the first being for an email and the second for a password. I've tried just about every combination of setting I could find, but here is the latest:
I'm aware that how something is embedded somehow effects how it works (though I'm fairly certain the display engine is made by the same people? ), so here is the embed [Code] ..... Everything else works just fine though... how the buttons interact, ExternalInterface, etc.. How what should be the simplest task fails to function just amazes me though. Do I have to literally make listeners to process all of the keyboard input? That would suck... but why would it work fine when I do "Test Project" and not when it's published and embedded?
CS4, AS2 or AS3 (haven't decided which on to use) I have text stored in a Sql Server 2005 database, and this text I want displayed inside a textfield in flash movie.
I've got some text coming from XML, its loaded inside "my_Text" textfields inside a "clip_mc" movieclip.. how do i make either of these wrap to a width? The text just runs off the screen, I need it to stay inside a box. [code]...
When i put a dropshadowfilter on a dynamic textfield with html-content, the links (a href) stop working.The textfields rotate in flash 3D space so they have a transformmatrix applied to them. Could this be the reason? Anybody had problems with html-links and dropshadowfilter applied to the textfield? it makes no difference if you put the filter on the textfield itself or the movieclip container around it.
I'm trying to do the following: I have an empty movieClip in my stage called zonaCentral_mc. I use a function that has this code:
zonaCentral_DescripcionProceso = new zonaCentral_DescripcionProceso_mc(); zonaCentral_mc.addChild(zonaCentral_DescripcionProceso);
It loads the MovieClip zonaCentral_DescripcionProceso from the library into the empty movieclip zonaCentral_mc. The loaded MC has a dynamic textfield called titulo_text inside. How can I change that text? I'm trying:
I need to get the position (x,y) of the last char in a textField with html text inside. I try with numlines and getLineMetrics, but that only work for non-html text. If I have a text like
Code: <p>text one</p><p>This is the other text</p><br><br>
I need to have the position on the stage of the last "t".
I want to display a uncommon layout into a HTML Textfield, using AS3/Flash CS4. This is what I need to create, is it possible? [URL]... I have tried some CSS styles, but I didn't found any way to align a span to the left. TLF is out of my range, the related project is closed to CS4, but if it is the only way, someone tell me!
I am a newbie in Flash CS3. How to resize the width of of a movie clip according to the size the size of dynamic text inside it. I did it by creating a text field 'myText' and then converted it to a MovieClip symbol and named the MovieClip as myClip. The text in myText is assigned at run-time and its width changes according to the text.
I did it as follows:- myClip.myText.selectable = false; myClip.mouseChildren = false; myClip.useHandCursor = true; myClip.buttonMode = true; myClip.myText.width = myClip.myText.textWidth + 5;
On doing this I find the clickable area changes according to the size of the text field but the text field doesn't appear at all.
I need to load some swfs inside a movieclip with preloader.So on the stage I have some movieclips (linked to "product1" class) which will act as buttons to load particular swf, a holder mc and a dynamic textfield(named-"percent") for preloading stuff.My problem is how to reffer "percent" text field from the "product1" class? my code is like this.
I've created an button object in flash. The button contains 2 layers. One is the background image and on top of it is a textField. The textfield is dynamic. I use the button inside a movieclip and I export it in a SWC. The I'm trying to use it in flex.
I'm trying to do this:
var myComponent:MyComponent = new MyComponent(); myComponent.button01.theTextField.text = "Caption";
I get and instance of the button(myComponent.button01 is not null in Flex debugger), but the instance of the textField(myComponent.button01.theTextField) is null and I'm not able to change the text(but the default text appears onscreen). The code is compiled correctly in flex.
I exported the in swc the button control as well. So the button is not the default SimpleButton from Flash, but an derived class generated by flash(with the same name as the symbol defined in flash). It contains theTextField memeber, which is null.
Here is the button timeline(Layer 2 contains the textfield, and the textfield instance is named theTextField):
Ok, this is one of those walls that I know once I can jump over it, I will be a much happier developer again.
I've done tons of reading, and think I have a firm understanding that the general consensus is that if you want to reference something, it needs to be added to the display list, using addChild().
I hate to be defiant, but what if I don't want to?
Or at the very least, what if I want to add a movieclip class to the stage using addChild, and then reference objects inside it?
It is much easier this way than what most people recommend - adding 15 objects via addChild, then setting the x and y for the, etc.
That said, I'm all about using classes and using as3 the way it was meant to be used. So what this is, is a best practices question I guess.
HERE ARE THE STEPS I'M TRYING:
- Create new flash document
- Draw graphic symbol bg, with text field over it, select them, convert to movieclip symbol, and export class name "box", then delete it from stage
- Add document class .as file, which simply adds that class "box" from the library, to the display list using a simple addChild()
- Set a name for that box using box.name = "test" let's say
- Do a simple trace like the following - "getChildByName('test').textFieldName" - it shows up great
- So then, I'll now try to set the text by doing this - getChildByName('test').textFieldName.text = "yo";
That last line above, is what doesn't work. I know I'm referencing wrong, but how would a pro as3 developer, reference something on the stage within a movieclip class, from the document class?
Im trying to create same MCs and create a textField inside each MC created, then I am trying to apply onRollOver event into those MCs created and change the textField.textColor.
From my code Im resulting and trace with "undefined" how can I manipulate the dynamic created Textfield inside the dynamic created MC
Here is my code:
for (var i = 101; i < 103; i++) { if ( i != 115 and i != 116 or i != 126 or i != 127 or i != 134) {
Is it possible to set the height of the sprite depending on the height of an textfield inside that sprite? I'm creating a box with a textfield inside it, but I want the box to be sized depending of how much text it is in the textfield..
