ActionScript 2.0 :: Three Frames On Main Timeline - Fade Effect Not Work?
Feb 14, 2010
I've created three keyframes on the main timeline, the first is empty, and so is the third. In the second I have a movieclip that contains a classic tween. The movieclip has an alpha of 0 at frame 1, and 100 at frame 15, then at 45 it does the same in reverse until frame 60. On the last frame (60) of my movie clip I have the code:
ActionScript Code:
_root.gotoAndStop(3);
For some reason when I test the movie, the fade effect will not work, and the screen will just be blank. I have the
ActionScript Code:
stop();
Code on frame 2 but none on the other frames.
It's a bit of decoration to go behind a logo. When the dMove var is commented out I get the appropriate line of squares fading in and out at random spots along the x = 78 axis, but when introduced nothing appears at all...
I'm trying to create a cursor that follows the mouse around and leaves a fading trail behind it, and know I would never put something so "1998" on my site, but I thought it would be fun to try and recreate one anyway for my own enjoyment. Okay this is the issue that I'm running into the fading ball cursor does actually work but for some odd reason after about 4 or 5 seconds it leaves a small trail behind it that does not fade all the way, it's almost as if code was resetting and starting all over by dropping the current execution of the code and starting over????
Here's my code. I'm using FLASH CS4 with all current updates IMPORTED FILES import fl.transitions.Tween; import fl.transitions.easing.*; stage.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_MOVE, moveBall); function moveBall(e:MouseEvent):void{ var ball:Ball = new Ball(); ball.x = mouseX; ball.y = mouseY; addChild(ball); var fadAway:Tween = new Tween(ball, "alpha", Strong.easeOut, 1, 0, .5, true); }
I have 6 frames on the main timeline each with a different movieclip. Is it possible that when one movie clips finishes running it will go to he next frame on the maintime line and run the next movieclip on the next frame with AS3?
I am fairly new to flash and I have been trying to make a product demo. Basically I want some text to fade in and then some pictures to show up one by one and then disappear and then some new text fades in etc. This is to talk about a product and show various parts of it as the text on the screen is discussing those parts of the product. My question is what the preferred way of doing this is. Here are the options I can think of.
Approach 1) Put all animation in the main timeline. All text tweens take place on frames in the main timeline. Approach 2) Put the text fade-in tweens in a movie clip and put that on the main timeline.
I have tried both these approaches but neither one has been working for me for the following reason.
Approach 1) Makes timeline very long and unwieldy. If one thing changes, it shifts everything over and messes up my whole timeline. Hard to manage. Approach 2) If I have a stop(); on the main timeline, my animation stops in mid fade. In cases where I don't have a stop, I can't figure out how to do a series of objects fading in one after another. Is there a way to check if a movieclip has finished and only go to the next frame if it has finished? How do I get a series of clips to play one after another when I am running them as seperate movieclips off the main timeline.
I'm designing a website which has one main MC in the timeline. This main MC totals about 650 frames with text and pictures for each page (65 pages). This when published into a .swf, was 172KB. However, the download time was huge, almost 45 seconds. The intro page works fine, which I then use a loadMovie to bring in the main .swf with navigation bar, etc. So, I took this large .swf and split it into 3 smaller .swf's, 50, 111 and 85KB, for each. Now when live online, this too, seems too large and almost 30 seconds to download. Can I optimize in any way or should I just again split the 3 movies into maybe, 5 movies? What is the 'best' size for each .swf that will be published online? You can see the link yourself at [URL].
I am currently in the middle of making a "sniping" flash game. In the first level there are a series of moving targets which are also movie clips. Inside the movie clip there is a 7 frame animation of the target exploding. Inside that is a tween of the target moving up and down. And inside that there is a plain old button.
What I want to happen is when you click on the moving target it explodes and brings you to a new frame of the main timeline. (ex. Main Timeline frame #27) But I'm pretty sure it thinks I was to play the seven frame animation of it exploding and then go to frame 27 inside the movie clip, rather then frame 27 on the main timeline.
Here's what my AS looks like on the target (ActionScript 2.0 is what I'm using.)
on (press) { play(); } on (release){ gotoAndStop(27)}
So how do I make it explode and then take me to frame 27 on the main timeline?
I have a dynamic image scroller that scrolls right or left following where the mouse is. When you hover over the images, a pop-up box also appears with information. This scroller works perfectly fine within the mc scene, but once i drag the mc into the main timeline the mc doesn't smoothly scroll right or left. It's jumpy and the infobox doesn't work at all. How can I get it to work smoothly on the main timeline?
Inside of movieclip on keyframe i want a script that tells to swap depths between 2 mc's that are on main timeline. When i use setChildIndex inside of mc flash hits me with Error #2025.
I am on the main stage. In a layer I create a button. I double click on this button to enter its layer. I then do some AS3 to say if the play button is pressed, to change to a pause button. How would I say "If the main timeline is finished, change to the play button"? I am trying
I want to fade out my preloader and fade in my main interface how do I do it with action script? I've tried a couple if else loops and can't seem to get anything to work
In the following code I am controlling the visibility of a MC with the following code:[code]This is working fine but the on/off transition is a bit harsh. Is there a way to add a fade in fade out effect with action script so the change from visible to not visible is not so abrupt?
over the button , its start contiunosly fade in/fade out effect until i rollout the mouse its have to stop , now i have the script but its works just when i rollover and rollout the mouse and then again i need to rollover again , i searched for this script in forum but didnt find the code for contiunosly effect.here is my script ..this script goes in my actionscript layer :
I added a website preloader in a separate scene to the main frame of my website and scripted it to go to and Play the main scene or frame of the website when finished loading. I then put a command in the first frame of the main scene for the movie to stop (); at that point. The problem is that now the buttons on the main page don't respond to any behaviour commands to go to and stop at other frames in the main scene. I'm not sure if this is a conflict between the stop(); command in the main scene and the button behaviour command to go to and stop at another frame or an error with the way I'm identifying the scene and frame.
how many of you use scenes to get your projects done. I've been switching to a different scene for every new angle (I'm making a flash movie, drawing somewhat 3D perspective, and storyboarding it out like a movie.) I find it makes it easier to organize the timeline, and not take up as many frames per timeline. Are there any downfalls to this method? Because I'm early on in the production, and if there's going to be any problems down the road I'd like to know before I get too involved.
I cannot seem to find anything of what I need from google.(Well, I can find the reverse method to what i need ) Basically I wish to access a variable declared in the Root Timeline from my Movie clips timeline.
I simply want to assign a variable to the current frame of the main timeline (not movieclip timeline) I already know about _currentframe and it doesn't help in this case.
I am in the learning process. Working with FlashCS5 and AS3. if the issue appears to be too simple for you. Placed a movieclip(mcassessJohn) on the main timeline and moved to the frame labelled "johnFeedback" in the movieclip timeline using the following actionscript code.
I have a file comprised of 1 scene and two movie clips. The clips are instanced into the Main Timeline and occupy Frames 1 and 2 respectively.MovieClip1 is an animation that has navigation buttons that appear at the end of the clip. I'm trying to get mouse click navigation to make Frame 2 on the Main Timeline active.
Here is what I'm trying but it is not working:
btExplore.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, ExploreClick); function ExploreClick (evt:MouseEvent):void { gotoAndStop(2); }
this takes the animation to Frame 2 of the Movie Clip Timeline not Frame 2 the Main Timeline.
I'm having some problem with the workflow of flash.I make web banners everyday att my work att it is important to me to have the banners easy structured so I can copy effects, tweens and symbols to a new banner. I have Flash CS3 pro.I always start by making a symbols. And then in the symbols own timeline I make the animation or effect.
The big problem I'm having is when I have the main (scene1) timeline with many frames, and then have symbols on that timeline, with it's own timeline with some frames. The frames in the symbol timeline is okey, but at the main timeline the frames is too short or too long so the animation of the symbol cuts of early or it plays more than one time (too many frames).
How do I calculate how long a symbols timeline should be so It maches the main timeline?What happens to me is that I always have to adjust the symbols timeline and the main timeline, and this I have to do many times.
How can I with ActionScript 3.0, make a black fade when changing from frame 1 to frame 2. So its kinda, fades out when I click button, and fades in with new window?
stop(); var nextImage:Timer = new Timer(2000);nextImage.addEventListener(TimerEvent.TIMER, playNext);nextImage.start(); function playNext(event:Event):void{nextFrame();}
I'm trying to cross fade between two frames using action script. I can fade a frame out with the following script but I can't figure out the cross fade part.
/* Fade Out Movie Clip
Fades out the symbol instance by decreasing its alpha property within an ENTER_FRAME event until it is invisible.
Instructions:
1. To change the speed at which the symbol instance fades out, change the 0.01 value below (valid values are in the range 0.0 - 1.0). Higher values cause faster fade out.
2. The '-=' operator is a shortcut to typing 'Spread1.alpha = Spread1.alpha - 0.1'.
3. Because the animation uses an ENTER_FRAME event, it progresses only when the playhead moves to a new frame, and the speed of the animation is also affected by the frame rate of the FLA file.
Spread1.addEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME, fl_FadeSymbolOut); Spread1.alpha = 1; function fl_FadeSymbolOut(event:Event)
I have a main.fla which has 3 movieclips inside it. All 3 mc's have timelines that run 40 frames. The main.fla timeline has each mc instance on a frame. mc_1 is on frame 1 mc_2 is on frame 40 mc_3 is on frame 81 as the main timeline plays the clips each one fades to the other. I need to know how to target this scenerio after mc_3 plays I need to have a goToAndplay (20) set up so the animation inside mc_1 starts playing (frame 20) of mc_1.
I have a magic cloud effect. On frame 30 of the nested effect I would like an mc on the main timeline to become visible.Not too sure how to code with frame numbers,a) Do I put AS on the timeline of the nested clip ORb) Write code on the main timeline to listen for when the nested mc gets to frame 30
I have a movieclip on the scene. I also have a button on the scene and when I press the button I want to send a variable-value to the movieclip. I have a variable set in the actual frame on the main-timeline but the movieclip doesn't catch that, when traced I get undefined. Can I send a value from the main-timeline to a moviclips timeline?
