I rearranged a vertical scrollbar code to get a horizontal scrollbar. The only problem is that now it takes the x coordinate of the last thumbnail (I think) and goes right to left, meaning that the 1st thumbnail will not be at x=0.How can I get it to start with the first thumbnail is at x=0 and go from left to right?

Everything is working fine, except I can't get the hand cursor to appear over the list and I need to create a scrollbar for the list. I'm aiming to get an image start 40 pixels in from the right edge (of the browser - using 100% width in css) and once clicked move to 40 pixels from the left edge. Now I've managed to (almost) do it fine in AS3, but, no problem with getting the image to glue to the right hand side, then tween to the left. It's when the user drags the browser to a nice size, the image jumps back over to the right! I almost need a bit of AS3 script that says 'once animation has completed, don't pay attention to the repositioning command!' if that makes sense! My coding is below; (ball_mc is my image)

I inherited a flash project from someone and if I add a simple movie clip to the stage at position 0,0 it actually ends up in the middle of the screen!
What I can see is that when I open the stage in the library, in it's properties
X=350 and Y=262,05 all the subsequent movie clips which are added to the screen as by magic are added at position X=-350 and Y=-262.05
I would really like to return to a situation where 0,0 is top left corner. Does anyone have any idea what's going on here?
What do the little red squares on the lower left hand corner of the movieclips in the actions panel mean? [Fig. 1]I'm working off this template in Flash CS3, that's using ActionScript 2.0 actually. I don't know whether or not that means anything in regards to the above inquire?

Way with actionscript to determine the right and left side of a movie clip? I have a row of dynamiclly loaded pictures that load into a movieclip and then have arrows that scroll the photos left and right using an interval and _x +=10. The scroll works great. Only problem is, it just goes on and on and on if you keep pressing the arrow. Is there any way to tell it where the left and right side are and not to let either side go past a certain point.

Hate those days...Anyways, it's in regards to a simple scrollbar moving left to right. My button seems to be sticking to my mouse on release, although I put a stopDrag on it. I think I did some of this code backward, but it still works somehow; although I can't explain it. the numbers in parenthesis/minus sign are representing in the following code (in red)? I keep getting this message <b> Left side of assignment operator must be variable or property</b> How can I get around it?
I am having an issue with my project showing up to the left side of the screen when I look at it on the web. how to center the project in the middle of the page. Here is another blunder I am desperate for help with. another project I am working on I screwed up by editing the timeline for EVERYTHING inside the movie clip instead of the timeline. now when I export this to be a mov. file it only plays for like a second. so I fixed that and copy and pasted the timeline from inside the movie to the timeline on my workspace. everything is showing up on the bottom right of the page.
View 1 RepliesI'm a bit newbie to Flash, and I'm experiencing strange problem. I have a simple flash application, which when run in Flash player looks like this
the thing is, when i resize the Flash player window, a black frame becomes visible to the left and top of the stage. is it possible that these black areas start appearing on the right side, and the stage to be fixed on the left? The strange thing is that these black areas are not part of the stage, the (0,0) coordinate is there where white area starts and not in the corner of the window, and that's causing me problems.
My character is spawned in the middle of the screen, and i'm not sure how to make zombies spawn from the left and right side of the screen, and moving towards the middle. My goal is to make the zombies spawn automatically, and the character in the middle is able to shoot them down. I've just started working on AS3, but i know that i'll need to make an array to do this, but not sure how to implement this.

I'm working on Flex component which can be resized using handles on the right and left (that is, if you click and drag the left side, the component will grow to the left, if you click and drag on the right, it will grow to the right).
Right now I am using:

But that makes the right side jump around, and generally looks ugly.
What is the "right" to do this? Is there something fundamental I've gotten wrong?
Edit: The jitter occurs on the right side of the component. When I set this.x, the component moves to the left, the screen redraws, then the width is updated, and the screen redraws again.

I've got a scrolling image gallery which I have a zoom button that lets the user zoom in on the images... If they click on the stage, the scrolling stops. Now, if they try to zoom in, the image scales from the left side, since the images registration points are on the left side of the movie clip they're loaded into. This causes the images to shift right, but I want it to appear as if its a straight on zoom...

View 1 RepliesI want to make an interactive image scroller. I am making a webshop and I want a flash to scroll through some of the latest products (3 or 4) that I put in myself and animate or whatever, maybe there's a better and easier way. I want this movie to have these products scrolling from right to left by auto with maybe an ease effect, but when you move your mouse pointer over the whole movie I want it to stop, and when it stops I want two arrows appear on the left and right side of the movie which will be clickable and you will be able to scroll through the products with them as well.
It doesn't need to have an external XML connection where you insert scrolling speed and so on. Of course it would be simplier, but without is fine too. I will try to explain in what terms I know of:
-Mouseout/rollout = 3 or 4 products scrolling one by one from the right and ease in to the middle, pause 4 seconds, then scroll out to the left with an ease. Looped.
-Mouseover/rollover = Movie stops and then you can use arrows on both each side and scroll by yourself. But I don't know if I want this only to be available when the product is in the center of the movie, or else it would be kind of weird if the movie stopped when one product was just about to go half-way out or in.
I have published my movie to take up 100% of the width and height of the screen.It takes up the entire height of the screen, but there is about a 10 pixel gap on the left and right side of the movie.

Let's say I'm trying to place a tooltip on the left side of a component on my view. Layout may look similar to this:

After the point is converted via contentToGlobal(), the point's x coordinate is drastically incorrect. I've found a way to workaround this by simply wrapping the target component in another HBox like this:

I have 7 icons on the left side (vertically) with two stationary phones on the right side of the movie clip and all of the icons has its own different URLs like differentiator.aspx?point=1 (2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7). If I click one of them, the animated phone appears on the right side, but the problem is how do I display the content of page from each icons on the left side? Its like two onClick events at the same time; one to play the "scene" and one to change the content of the page.
