ActionScript 2.0 :: Transferring Data From Domain At Bottom Of Browser?

Jan 16, 2009

I am using the loadVariable method of the MovieClip class to load some data. I have a question about the "transfering data from domain" message I see at the bottom of firefox for a page that has this swf loaded in. The load variables call obviously complete very quickly (the output is just h=1&d=1, or something as short as that) but the transfering data remains the entire time the page is in the browser (like half an hour later, etc).

How I should go about coming up with a program in action script 3 that can transfer data keyed in one swf file to another. Basically all I want is to key in a name in the 'y.swf' file when it plays in the browser, and when I click on submit another swf (z.swf)opens in the browser saying 'You keyed in '***'. The value keyed in the 'y.swf' file should be tranfered and stored as a variable in 'z.swf'.

I do not want to have my xml file on the same domain as my website because it will be on my school's server and they don't allow access to their server. ActionScript 3.0 :: URLLoader Keeps Transferring Data

Sep 14, 2010

All Im trying to do is post firstname, lastname and emailaddress from a form inside my swf to a php file and then get that php file to return a result back to my swf.

First of all i tried using external interface to handle this because the server its going to run on doesnt support PHP.

I had the SWFgrab the data from the text fields, pass the data to JS through external interface, then the JS would use jquery AJAX to execute the php file, then the JS would grab the results from the AJAXd div, then pass the data back through to the SWF. It was a bit of a circle jerk but it worked.

However, the PHP script that needs to be executed in a different domain as the SWF. I forgot that this would cause an issue. I then tried to setup AJAX crossdomain policies, but this is going to be a reasonably high traffic site and i felt that the proxy options that i found were kind of slow.

I realised that what id been doing so far was probably over complicated anyway. So, i went back to basics and thought id try using the URLLoader to load in the php file as a string. I setup a crossdomain.xml file on my server that will be hosting the PHP and used the loader to grab the PHP file.

This works fine, all the PHP does is echo out 3 comma separated values which i then split into an array and use in my SWF. I get the values no problem. However, my status bar in firefox keeps saying that its still transferring.

Ive tried telling the PHP script to 'exit();' after its echo'd out my results. Ive tried telling the URLoader to .close(); when its grabbed the data, neither of which stop it from transferring. Im also using the web debugging proxy 'Charles' and that says that the connection opened and closed successfully, but firefox still says that its transferring.[code]...

Character Is Always Displayed The Bottom Right Of The Browser Window?

I am working on a FLASH website that loads 3 flash movies (header, content and menu). The menu movie is displayed at the bottom. I am looking for a way to display the menu always at the bottom of the browser window (the visible bottom). This way, if the screen resolution of the user is too small, the user won't have to scroll to see the menu. I know it can be done. On this page, you can see that the copyright character is always displayed the bottom right of the browser window.[URL]

ActionScript 2.0 :: Aligning A Navigation To The Bottom Of Browser?

Nov 18, 2007

I'm using this code for aligning a navigation to the bottom of my browser.

Code:
fscommand("fullscreen", "true");
Stage.align = "TL";
Stage.scaleMode = "noScale";

[Code]....

The problem that i'm having is that when the timeline gets to the point where the slider is used the fscommand("allowscale", false); takes over the original fscommand used for the nav. I need to use both, as the slider only seems to work properly with that code, and likewise with the bottom aligned navigation.

How can i get around this? I want to align my navigation to the bottom of the browser at all times, yet have my slider be relevant to the browser when it's being used.

Is there another way to align the nav to the bottom of the browser? Maybe and onEnterframe();?

IDE :: CS3 Page Loads At Bottom Of Browser Window

Sep 26, 2009

- When you click on a link in the bottom menu bar of my site, the new page opens at the bottom of that page (instead of the top).

As you can see (from the action script at the bottom of this post ), it's basically just turning on and off the visibility of the pages. So when you click on the Ethnography button, it makes that page visible and the page that you were on, not visible.

So when the button being clicked (the Ethnography button) makes the Ethnography page visible, the page location stays in the same place (aka - the bottom of the page). Is there a quick action script statement that I can add to the EventListener for the button that will tell it to open the new page at the top of the page?

Something like: window.scrollTo(0,0) ?

Javascript :: Flash - Monitor Browser Windows From The Same Domain?

Jun 23, 2009

My webpage loads a background flash which will connect to the server using socket. If a user open multiple windows/tabs of my website, the server will get multiple socket connections. Any idea of how to make sure that only one socket is connected from the same user and same browser?

I am thinking of using Javascript to monitor the window close event, if a window that was connected to the server is closed, one of the other windows will try to connect to the server. But I can't find a way to listen to that event.I was thinking of Flash's LocalConnection too, but can't find a way to assign unique connection names and let other Flashes know.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Determine If SWF Is Running In Same Browser Domain As It Was Loaded From?

Jul 8, 2008

This may sound like a strange request, but I need to be able to determine:

1. What browser domain the current swf is executing in (that is, the page that hosts the swf is displayed in a browser, what is the domain of the page)?

2. What server domain the SWF was loaded from (ie, what the URL domain was for the SWF)?

I believe both of these I can get via javascript and ugly workarounds and pass them in, but what I need is actually to get these values (at least #2) from inside the SWF without relying on the javascript in the hosting page.

Specifically, what I'm trying to determine is if the SWF is executing in a page from the same domain as it itself was hosted/loaded from. I want to fork on this test and create different behavior for a SWF if it's "hot-linked" (that is, loaded onto a page on a different domain from where I host it).

I've looked into flash.system.SecurityDomain and ApplicationDomain... both these have properties called 'currentDomain' which would seem to be the value i'm looking for (for #2), however this object is a static variable that I can't seem to get any information out of or transform into any kind of useful string that I can look at it's value and test with it.The only info I've found on either of those two classes all relates to passing them to LoaderContext and such, when you are loading external resources.I do not want to load anything, I just want to determine how and where the SWF is executing.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Flash Swf Loading Data From An Xml Via Jsp From The Same Domain?

Dec 28, 2009

I have a flash swf loading data from an xml via jsp from the same domain. The swf is displaying the data perfectly fine from where I am at and for most of my user. However, one of my most important user report to me that the flash isn't displaying the data.

So here lies my question. At first, I thought it was merely an Flash player not up to date problem, but that user said he's using flash player 10 already and he has tested it with all sorts of browser. I have also try connecting to the website from that user's area, and it appears to be fine as well.

Base on the user's feedback, he was able to load the flash, but the xml data just won't appear. Somehow, I believe that it could be an individual computer's problem, but since I am no expert in the networking, and am having some trouble solving this problem,

Flex :: Make A Flash Browser App That Could Receive Data From Browser Plugin Or Other Windows App?

Dec 18, 2009

in other words, suppose I want to send data, like text, programmatically from a Windows app (such as a browser plugin) to a Flash app running in the browser. Well, conceptually, an example of this might be a Flash instant messenger with a textbox and button "Send"; so let's say I want to be able to programmatically paste the text and press Send or otherwise activate it. That's NOT what I am trying to do here in reality (i.e., no,I am not trying to spam other people's chat rooms or anything)but just an illustration of a similar situation.I can include in it whatever widget or hack that may be necessary.The reason why this problem is arising for me is that AFAIK the SDK that is providing me the data I want cannot be directly accessed from Flash, so I need a way to pipe the data from a regular app into Flash. can I have the Flash app interact with other apps through localhost IP? Or are there draconian restrictions on which server Flash in browser can and cannot interact?

Flex :: Automatically Scroll To Bottom When New Data Added?

public function scroll():void {
trace(chatboard.maxVerticalScrollPosition);
chatboard.verticalScrollPosition = chatboard.maxVerticalScrollPosition;
} <mx:TextArea id="chatboard" x="10" y="10" width="310" height="181" text="{chatMessages}" editable="false" verticalScrollPolicy="on" resize="scroll()"/>

But actually it don't work. The text area is not autoscrolled. Seems that 1) scroll is not called after new string is added to chatMessages.
