View 6 RepliesI'm a bit newbie to Flash, and I'm experiencing strange problem. I have a simple flash application, which when run in Flash player looks like this
the thing is, when i resize the Flash player window, a black frame becomes visible to the left and top of the stage. is it possible that these black areas start appearing on the right side, and the stage to be fixed on the left? The strange thing is that these black areas are not part of the stage, the (0,0) coordinate is there where white area starts and not in the corner of the window, and that's causing me problems.
I'm creating a simple AIR app with resize-functionality. Of course i need to position a resize-arrow to the bottom-right corner. Here's my code:

This doesn't work, my button gets out of the window very quickly. How could I make this work?
I've some components with dynamic heights. They have to be aligned with respect to the bottom of my canvas container, so I cannot set the same y for all components.
I could compute their heights and successively set the y but I was wondering if there was an easier way to do it.
My vision is to have a colored square at the top of the site Im working on which should span across the entire browser window. I have created a square 1280 x 100 pixels in size and imported it to the stage, alignment is set to x=0, y=0 ad alignment. The scene is the same size as the square I 've imported. When I view my Flash creation its displayed 8 pixels from the top left corner of the browser window. The flash file only contains the square and nothing else. take a look at the 3 files I've attached: issue-scrreen1-3.jpg. The first 2 screens are my Flash, properties and library screen shots. The third screen shot is my browser window.
View 2 RepliesI'm having a small problem with aligning movieclips. I have 2 movieclips.
For examples sake let's call them
black_box
red_box
I need red_box to align to the bottom left of black_box. Now the code I'm using works when black_box lays on the 0 axis for both x and y. But since the positioning of these movieclips are dynamic I'm having problems.
I'm almost sure I just need to add in the current x and y values into the equation but I simply can't figure it out

Any way to bottom-left align components? An <HBox .../> nested in a <Canvas .../> doesn't work because the elements in the HBox are top-aligned instead of bottom aligned.
For example, I'd like my components to be aligned like this:

I have an application with width/height of 100%. I have several nested groups within and their measurements are all not set, instead being defined as top=5 or left/right=10, etcI'm trying to get the actual with of a group that should be 390. I've set the swf object size to be 400 from the html embed code, and the group is inside another group that is width=100%. The group has a left=5 and right=5 so the width should be 400-10. When I display the .width and .measuredWidth of this group, the width is always 400.I'm fairly new to flex/flash. Do I need to have explicitly set widths in order to get the width of child containers? Is there something I'm doing wrong here?

I just don't know how to align a simple movieclip to the left bottom of my fullscreen window (margin 20px). View 4 RepliesI have been trawling around forums for hours now and the only was to save information LOCALLY in Flash seems to be using the SharedObject stuff. which is fine. BUT I am making a project which is meant to be entirely run from a memory stick i.e. portable. So, I was thinking it would be good to save the information from the flash to a SharedObject .sol file and then to copy the .sol file to the memory stick, then load the information back into the flash file from the copy of the .sol file on the memory stick!
Dont know if this is possible, but I need to some how save information created in the flash file stored on a memory stick (which will be text and possibly an image which would be loaded from the users pc) to a file on the memory stick and then next time the flash file is run, load all of the information back in!
I know all this stuff is possibly using PHP etc. but as I am running it from a memory stick on a pc which probable wont have internet access.

I am looking for a way to display the menu always at the bottom of the browser window (the visible bottom). This way, if the screen resolution of the user is too small, the user won't have to scroll to see the menu. I know it can be done. and this is whats happening...The NAV clip is aligning to something, but it's not working right. I want it to be 25 pixels from the bottom at all times, no matter what size the browser is...

I'm using this code for aligning a navigation to the bottom of my browser.

The problem that i'm having is that when the timeline gets to the point where the slider is used the fscommand("allowscale", false); takes over the original fscommand used for the nav. I need to use both, as the slider only seems to work properly with that code, and likewise with the bottom aligned navigation.
How can i get around this? I want to align my navigation to the bottom of the browser at all times, yet have my slider be relevant to the browser when it's being used.
Is there another way to align the nav to the bottom of the browser? Maybe and onEnterframe();?

So when the button being clicked (the Ethnography button) makes the Ethnography page visible, the page location stays in the same place (aka - the bottom of the page). Is there a quick action script statement that I can add to the EventListener for the button that will tell it to open the new page at the top of the page?

I am using the loadVariable method of the MovieClip class to load some data. I have a question about the "transfering data from domain" message I see at the bottom of firefox for a page that has this swf loaded in. The load variables call obviously complete very quickly (the output is just h=1&d=1, or something as short as that) but the transfering data remains the entire time the page is in the browser (like half an hour later, etc).
