I have a problem with the security sandbox of the flash player. I need a data grid to get its data from a xml located in other domain. I have a flash swf loading data from an xml via jsp from the same domain. The swf is displaying the data perfectly fine from where I am at and for most of my user. However, one of my most important user report to me that the flash isn't displaying the data.
So here lies my question. At first, I thought it was merely an Flash player not up to date problem, but that user said he's using flash player 10 already and he has tested it with all sorts of browser. I have also try connecting to the website from that user's area, and it appears to be fine as well.
Base on the user's feedback, he was able to load the flash, but the xml data just won't appear. Somehow, I believe that it could be an individual computer's problem, but since I am no expert in the networking, and am having some trouble solving this problem,

Question: How do I create the ability to load a xml file from another domain?
For example, I am creating an embeddable video player that will play on the domain which the xml file resides and also embedded on other sites. I am to the point where the video player completely works on the domain that the xml file resides and when I embed it on another domain, the .flv plays but the xml data will not pull.
FYI, I have complete access to the domain where the xml file resides.
Here are some snippets of security settings that I have been trying to get to work:

[URL]when i test the site on my computer with flash it works. when i upload to the internet the xml data is not picked up. when i had the xml data in the same subdomain it worked both on my computer and in the internet...but i need the data to be accessible...
i have tried adding cross domain "policy files" for permission, but either they are not working, or i am doing it incorrectly...

developing an e-card system in AC2. The system mainly consists of two flash movies and is supported by PHP scripts and a mysql database for data storage.The first part is the create/edit screen where the users can upload a photo, mask any desired area and apply some simple transformations such as size, rotation, brightness. They can also select a card (an animated flash movie) and preview the animation and finally type a message for the recipient.The other part is the result screen where the finalised card is presented and the user can then email a link to it to other people or grab some code to embed it on another site. 1 - SWF must have ability to loading binary data from any domain.
2 - SWF cant load policy XML file from url, cause upload form allows me only to upload swf files, so I cant include any other data.
I tried:
Security.allowDomain("*");
But it works only for SWF files.I tried to embed policy XML file:

This will make an security error, if file is from different domain than SWF file.Its possible to get binary data from JavaScript using ExternatInterface in AS3 code.Here is cross-browser library for reading files binary: binary reader and later version jDataView.

I am using the loadVariable method of the MovieClip class to load some data. I have a question about the "transfering data from domain" message I see at the bottom of firefox for a page that has this swf loaded in. The load variables call obviously complete very quickly (the output is just h=1&d=1, or something as short as that) but the transfering data remains the entire time the page is in the browser (like half an hour later, etc).

i have a php page hosted on 1 domain and a flash login page on another and im trying to get the SWF on one domain to retrieve data from the php page on the other domain.If i run the SWF file on the same domain as the login script it works fine, The swf retrieves the info from PHP The current AS code is here.[code]

Below is the script I'm using to pass a parameter to a script in the same server (and folder) as the flash file. It gives "null" as the required variable (use_url) value, instead of what the script is giving. The script itself works, when tested in a browser.
What it should do - it receives a value for "lesson_id" variable, passes it on to a script "movie_url" and receives a response with a new variable "real_url" and it's value.[code]...

We are running FMS3 on Windows 2003 Server. Videos stream and play fine when inside our domain, but outside the domain the videos take anywhere from 20 or more seconds before playing.
After analizing the connections it was determined that the player is randomly trying to access ports until it gets to the one that works, but this is ONLY happening from people trying to view videos from outside our domain.

I have moved a web application from old domain to new domain. I cannot get Flash to engage. I have changed the domain in flash_images.php file to the new domain. I have a flash_box.swf file and I have a js file these are the only flash components that I see--old domain is e.g. www.example.com new domain is [URL]..I am not a flash developer, how do I get flash to work on the new domain?

hen in a project folder, all there is is an fla file, it still runs but with the actionscript files hidden somewhere. Where do I find them? If you don't know what i'm talking about here's an examplehttp:[url]....If you download the game file, it's just the fla, the as files must be hidden.

I want to check for the _x value of an MC, then move every MC that is to the right of that MC left by 60px (-60).
For example, let's say I have an MC called "Main".Within Main is a bunch of MCs, I'll call them "obj1", "obj2", "obj3", and "obj4". Let's assume they are positioned in that order from left to right.I want to be able to check for the _x value of obj2, and move all MC's to the right of it (in this case obj3 and obj4) to the left by 60px, and of course keep obj1 in its current position because it's to the left of obj2.

I have written a Flex Library project - a .swc file - which is supposed to read default configuration from a XML file inside .swc. This .swc file would be used by other modules to perform some operation. I am unable to make the URLLoader to load the XML inside the .swc file.When i run this as a normal Flex project, things work fine without any issue. With swc, it looks bin-debug folder for the XML and not inside .swc. I want the URLLoader to look inside .swc for the config file. How do i achieve this?

I was just playing around with the script wondering how to modify where the thumbnails can be located and can you make them run vertically by adjusting the hit_left and hit_right? I have tried loading the swf into a window of my main swf (loadMovie("waters.swf", "window") and it throws off the location of the scroll.

I have a site that loads an external mp3 player. Now I want to pause the sound when the "video" button is pressed. In the mqin swf file, there is a movie clip called "MP3_Player", in that clip is the loaded mp3 player. I used this method to call the mp3 swf file.[code]Now what path/s do apply to the button in the main swf file to get the music to pause.

I'm trying to acess myLoader located on a timeline above the navBar mc where my function is located and for some reason I am not able to acces the loader. The trace show that th button hears the addEventListener and the evt.target.name is working properly. I get the following compile error:1119: Access of possibly undefined property myLoader through a reference with static type flash.display:DisplayObjectContainer.

How can I play in the client the FLV audio file that I recorded in the second FMS?

I've a simple template I purchased with a flash header. There is a top navigation across the top of the header in previewing it. However, no matter how much I try to locate each of the text to change it per button, in the library, all of the buttons have the same name, in this particular, "main page", but NOT the rest of the menu from left to right in preview mode. I've went through every single library item to locate how to simply change the text, that's all for each of the menu items and cannot find the residual text for each button on the top of the preview navigation. In my library there is no navmenu or anything like that. [code]...
So, no where else in the library do I see, in this particular, the text of the residual navigation items which in this case is at the top of the header. This is nuts. I need to change the remaining items in the top navigation, to things like "main page" which already have, then "buying", "selling, "movng" and so forth, but cannot find how to change the current text. So simple, but I can't figure this out.

Im trying to write a function that used to work real wll in AS2

I decided to rearange my flash site and now things don't work.I used to have an image collage where all the images were buttons and each image was located on the stage ( which made a stage with 10+ loose images)I made each image a button. I would like to know how to detect on which layer is an instance located. For example I put a circle named bob on the first layer and a square named test on the second layer. In actionscript, can I detect on which layer is test. I want to use this because in my game I will put all the non solid objects on the first layer and all the solid objects on the second layer and I want to detect in actionscript which instances are located in which layers.

I'm not getting an error message, so I assume the AS is written correctly. That's what's so confusing. The files are not upload to a server yet -- everything is local. What happens is, let's say, I use FF to view the html file, after clicking a thumbnail, it directs to a page that reads: File not found Firefox can't find the file at /Users/name/Desktop/SITES/grdn_page/elleJapan.jpg.
I put the jpegs and the html in the same folder?

I have a full-browser flash site, with a movie clip horizontal nav bar at the bottom of the page. I've got everything working well (the background rescaling to fill the browser when the browser window size changes, the horizontal nav bar at the bottom....) for the most part. One thing is really getting to me however. Check out the example I made here: the nav bar sits in the middle of the page. The moment you re-size the browser, it pops into the desired location near the bottom and stays there, even if you continue to re-size. However I want it to appear where it should at the bottom of the window on page load, without having to re-size the browser windowIn the following code, main is the placeholder for the image slideshow that runs in the full browser, menu_mc is the menu.
