View 1 RepliesI have a total of 5 separate buttons in my flash document. I want to have a user to be able to click the button and have it display some sort of text near the button itself. How do I get the text to stay once a button is clicked and disappear when another button is clicked? I dont want to use the hit method because the text will contain hyperlinks that I want the user to be able to click on.

How would I go about making a search function that can locate an array of buttons?
The buttons direct to movieclips. The purpose is to have a search field in the flash project to help find specific movieclips (the buttons that direct to them, anyway) based on criteria using arrays. I am using Flash8, but have access to CS4 if necessary.
I need to call the function onClick before or after the eventListener is enabled. I tried just using onClick(); but I get error 1136: Incorrect number if arguments.
The eventListener is inside a for loop if that matters.

Do addCallBack function only works in HTML onClick events or i m missing something. I mean the function i wrote on javascript. When i put the function in some other place it never works. But when i add a button via html and give this buttons onclick the call back function it works

Alsoo it will attach a animated movieclip onclick to the button and when pressing another button, it swifts to that button.

But Now the problem is that when another button is clicked I have to add the listeners back on the button, but I cant get the button because they all have the same name. Same with addChild the animated movieclip. Can't remove it. The buttons have a variable name, and can be unlimited.

View 1 RepliesI have a simple movie consisting of 6 layers (photos). Each layer is set to display for 30 frames then fades into the next layer to give the impression of a slideshow. I have used a code snippet against the 1st layer so that if the mouse button is clicked it will go to a particular website.

This works fine, however, once the clip goes beyond layer 1, if you press the mouse button again, it still goes to the web site specified even though I do not want it too. I have tried to add a second code snippet so that if it is on the 2nd layer it goes to a different web page and so on, for each layer, wanting it to go to a different web page. If I have more than 1 code snippet, as soon as it gets to the frame the snippet is on, it fails, and if I only have the 1 snippet, it runs for the entire duration of the clip
First i used to work on AS2 but i have converted to AS3 to benefit the new features .
And here is my problem : i have a function where i will create in it several buttons each one do different task but each task is so small that can be only one statement like changing the value of some variable.
Do i have to make an EventListener and a handle function for each button !! i have tried that and it made my code very messy , can't i just make something like that : button1.onClick = function(){} like AS2 ? Or is there a class i can use to make something like ?
im having trouble adding my button images that are in my library to an array.

View 9 RepliesI have a Flash AS2 application that is made up of many SWF files. I need to create an OnClick event in a container SWF that will work for every SWF called. I am trying to avoid adding code to every SWF (over 100).
Currently I can get access to the click in the container for the first SWF but when the second SWF is called it seems to overwrite the container.

In Google Maps Flash API, When the user clicks, or hovers on a marker, is there a way to dispatch an event containing the ID or lat/lon so this info can be used by the application?
View 1 RepliesI have an image map with coordinates and event onclicks. I am not concerned about the image map coordinates as much as i am with the onclick event which is what triggers the parent application ( which seems to only recognize the event formatted in this way:

im learning as3 and am trying to understand arrays so could an array be used in this situation i have 5 buttons which all need a ROLL_OVER, ROLL_OUT and CLICK mouse event is it easier to put all the buttons in an array and then use the array identifier to add the even listeners? or is there another way to do this? p.s if anyone can give me a few basic usages of arrays that you use in your experience. where to use arrays too

If the name of the button that you have just clicked on == (is the same as the name of the scene label) then go to that scene: Now I have used this handler function which seems to work O.K, except for the fact that it keeps trying to goto the FRAME label instead of SCENE label.
I keep getting the error message when i click on a button saying:
ArgumentError: Error #2109: Frame label mars not found in scene home.

I figured it must be this line of code at the end: gotoAndStop(+(destArray)[i]);
But how do I change it so it goes to the scene label name and not the frame label name? I Tried adding quote marks like

But I am getting errors.

View 2 RepliesI 'm using the kirupa gallery to display my images. Works sweet, centering the images, next and prev button, nice transition. No thumbnails or stuff. Pretty simple and basic. I want to show even a bigger images onclick in flash, so, not a popup, but the images loading in a movieclip With shadow and close button. Cant get it to work! The hyperlink versions all open a new browser window. I just wat it to laod a movieclip or swf with the image suplied in the xml.

I am trying to add multiple different versions of the same button to the stage and to be able to access them later on by assigning them an ID. The way I assumed this would be done is to have a class for the button where an internal static variable is defined so that the ID can be found in the next function. This does not seem to be working, as the ID is constantly showing as the last number given, so in this case 6.I assume that I am doing this wrong? Here is my code so you can better understand:

However, I need to sort the objects based on one of their properties.Lets say in my object class, I have a function "ReturnNumber()" that returns a number, I want to sort my array based on which number was the highest.
