And I have a textfield with variable set to jor.. Which is the variable from the php file which holds data from the database. When I change text in the database it doesn't change in the swf unless I go to internet properties and empty the cache.... even when I hit refresh it doesn't update. How do I make it so each time u load the swf it refreshes data from the database?
I cannot seem to get a swf to get refreshed data from an external txt file on a localhost (I am using Xampp on a mac), whereas the very simple dynamic textboxes that I have load the data easily from my regular hard drive folder.
The questions I posted last week dealt with XML and localConnection. Basically I had 2 swfs on a page. The main swf has the ability to modify some XML data (via an ASP script and database.) The second swf includes content populated by some of that XML data. When the data is modified, the first swf sends a call to the second (via localConnection) to refresh that data. I had everything working perfectly Saturday afternoon until I tested it in IE7 (on Win XP Home.) Older versions of IE, Firefox and Safari all showed no problems, but when the data should have been modified nothing seemed to happen. Nothing updated, etc.
I was able to confirm in the database that the update was actually happening, just not appearing. At first I thought IE7 wasn't playing nice with localConnection, but I eventually determined that IE7 wasn't playing nice with XML since it would happen in swfs that didn't use localConnection at all. localConnection was running and acting as it should, but IE7 was caching the XML feed even though the only component ever making a call to the XML was the swf. The XML was getting cached in IE and IE wouldn't let go (the only way to see updated data was closing and reopening the browser,or going into 7's new browsing history to delete the cache.)
The work-around I used was to add a querystring variable to URL for the XML feed. Every time the swf looks for it, it uses getTime to add a number of milliseconds to the end of the string so IE thinks it's getting a new file:
Code: currentDate = new Date(); currentTime = currentDate.getTime();[code]....
I've been testing it on and off since Saturday evening and it seems to work without issue.
now... when it loads the swf... the swf get the variables from the database using this code
[AS] loadVariables("journal.php",this); [/AS]
and i have a textfield with variable set to jor..which is the variable from the php file which holds data from the database when i change text in the database it doesnt change in the swf unless i go to internet properties and empty the cache.... even when i hit refresh it doesnt update... how do I make it so each time u load the swf it refreshes data from the database?
I've got a model class with a bunch of Number variables that change frequently. They all dispatch their custom events, thus are bindable. In my UI, a couple of those class instances are bundled into an ArrayList that serves as the dataprovider for a Spark DataGrid. The class variables change perfectly fine, so problem there.
What I'd like to do now is to change the color formatting of those numbers (the corresponding labels in the gridcoloums to be exact) depending on the data that comes in, so to say change in green when the new value is bigger, change to red when the new value is smaller than the old one.
does flash cache images and text loaded in AS3 by default? The code does not have any LSO's or any other read write senarios in it Just supposed to load the flash app when the page is loaded, and re-load again clean when reloaded.ut I noticed today that the images were not completely loading in FF5/Win Chrome/Win but did in IE8. I cleaned out the cache on these web browsers and everything seemed to be OK again. But I need to trust the user wont find an issue.
I am new to Flash and ActionScript platform. Presently, I am using ActionScript 3.0.I know only basics of Flash but not in depth. My issue starts here: For example, In Windows Operating System, Paint-brush uses Clipboard for temporary storage. My question is: Does Flash have Cache(i.e., buffer for temporary storage)? If Flash has Cache, then where does the temporary data gets stored, in what form, is the data accessible or atleast viewable?
When retrieving external variables from the server URLVariables my Flash get stuck on first compilation values. Whenever I update server values flash compiles the first old values. Only after i restart CS4 IDE values are updated. Is there an internal cache?
There is nothing wrong with my code, because it works fine on my mac, but not on pc.
My app has windows that are components. In my case, now I have 2 components that have a drop down list that show the current logged user lists. So when I use one component for the first time it make a request to database, save data in model, and load data from model, but when the second component opens, it will just load data from model. Easy for now: ListModel: this contains the current user lists.
Now I have another component but this needs the lists of another user. Where do I save these lists? I can't put in the ListModel as then will mix up with current user. Just a remind: there is not just 2 users. It might have more users, so it should be scalable.
I found something when I create bitmap data cache for each frame of a movie clip:I got a movie clip, instead of presenting it immediatly on stage, I created a bitmap data array to store each frame of it, so I'm doing:
var body:MovieClip; // some mc for body var suit:MovieClip; // some mc for suit, frame count is the same as body mc body["part"].addChild(suit); // it's a avatar, there's a sprite named "part" on body mc to contain suit mc
[Code]....
if i present the original body moive clip, everything is ok, but when I use cache, it begins to tremble, this is because the getBounds() method of movieclip returns different rectangle when mc is cached and mc is presented on stage. I tried trace out every getBounds() when caching and when Event.FRAME_CONSTRUCTED fire, they're different, making my cache crash!
I assum MovieClip class do not refresh until it's present to stage or some time in on frame, how can I get the real boundary of it if I need to cache it?
I'm new to Flex. Let's say we have a web application that needs to download several series of data (several thousand numbers) used by one screen.When the user leaves that screen and later returns to it (in the same session; that is, the user hasn't logged out then logged back in), should the application fetch the original downloaded data from cache or simply download it again? What are pros and cons of each and are there any general rules of thumb to follow when it comes to re-downloading data (e.g. again) versus simply getting it from cache? The goal would be to minimize user's wait time as long as there's no drawback.
Does anyone know if adobe flash player cache data is available to other users on a system? For example: A user logs onto Windows XP, then uses my adobe flex application... and in the process of doing so downloads the signed flex lib... He then decides to mow the lawn and log off. At about 3pm the same day, his Mum can't hear the TV over the sound of the mower, so she decides to log in using a different XP user account. She proceeds to use the very same flex application. Does she also need to download the flex lib again, or would the data already be cached in the flash player?
I'm writing code that takes data from mysql that's processed by a PHP script. It's actually a bit bizarre, at least to me. Anyway, here's some basic AS3 code that's moving toward what I want to do:
var loader:URLLoader = new URLLoader(); var urlRequest:URLRequest=new URLRequest("receive.php"); urlRequest.method=URLRequestMethod.GET;[code]....
For some reason, the statement "trace(evt.target.data);" produces a whole pile of garbled text before the actual stuff that it's supposed to show Because of problem #1, I've had to include a throwaway variable at the beginning, otherwise the first variable I try to pass into AS3 comes back as undefined. This causes errors when I run my flash movie in the IDE, but when I run it from the browser it doesn't seem to have any effect.But this is the strangest thing of all whenever I make any changes to the database (and subsequently try to load data from different variables), the new variables come back as undefined. For example, let's say that I add another entry to the database, and decide to load students 2, 3, and 4 instead of 1, 2, and 3. When I do that, any new data I've added comes back as undefined, even though when I view the PHP output in my browser, it looks just fine.
And now for the REALLY bizarre part: I'll copy that output, paste it into my PHP script as an echo statement, comment everything else out, and my flash movie runs fine. Even though the output from the PHP script is exactly the same, it gives me errors.
I am tying to find a way to refresh variables with new data. I am using PHP and MySQL to randomly assign new data to a variable when the script is called. This new data is passed to Flash as in a variable using these functions:
varReceiver = new LoadVars(); varReceiver.load("iat_config.php"); varReceiver.onLoad = function(success){
[code]....
So my problem is that every time I call my movie to go to this frame that contains this actionscript, it does not provide me with new variables. Another important variable I need to change every time the frame occurs is startTime = getTimer(); However, the variable startTime will stay they same and not change when the frame is recalled.
I am using loadvariablesnum to load some variables from my php doc, is there a way i can test to see if its loaded or not to jump to the next frame..? Right now I am having it load into a string.text to test if there is text in it, but I don't want to use a string.text
I am using the following code to try and post variables to a URL, but the SEND command is still posting the variables via GET. // ls_print is the URL I am attempting to POST to lv_request.send(ls_print, "_blank", "POST"); This is what the documentation says, so I'm lost.
I am working on the contact form for a website that is done entirely in flash. The following is the code I have for sending the variables to the emailForm.php script that I created. The only problem I'm having is that everytime you send the contact information, a new web browser window opens up (it opens the php file in the web browser). I'm testing this on my local server and it works great, except for the fact that everytime I send it, I dont want a new browser window opening up.
I'm working on a flash vote counter that uses xml to load the counts. it doesn't load any value for me and I'm getting no error messages. every time I run this when I click either button 0 gets displayed in the text boxes. if I manually set the totals it displays properly so I know the problem has to do with my xml.
FRAME 1:
Code: //stop at frame 1 until instructed stop(); //my two int vote totals
I'm working on an interactive quiz where the user's responses will be incremented to a poll in a CMS. I have a url that automatically increments the answer choice in a poll, so I would like to use sendToURL to call the url without actually passing any data or variables. It seems to work with navigateToURL, but that opens a blank window in the browser (a complete nuisance every time you answer a quiz question).
Here is the navigateToURL code that increments the poll successfull, but opens the unwanted browser window
var url:String = "URL GOES HERE"; var request:URLRequest = new URLRequest(url); try { navigateToURL(request);
[Code].....
I tried replacing "navigateToURL" in the first option to sendToURL and it wasn't incrementing the poll.
Having trouble get the URLLoader class to work.Unsure but I must be missing something basic.Just trying to send name/value pairs from asp to flash.AS3 Code:
Code: var loader:URLLoader = new URLLoader(); loader.dataFormat = URLLoaderDataFormat.VARIABLES;
I'm not even sure if this is possible, but I'm looking to retrieve a string from an embedded XML file, using a variable as the XML element's name. Here's what my code currently looks like, although it doesn't quite work:
Code: private final function getAreaTitle(_index:int):String { var _element:String = map_XML.mapnode.@title[_index];
[Code]....
I'm not massively familiar with the XML format, so apologies if I've not explained myself very well. As you can hopefully see, I have one XML file containing my map data and another containing my text, such as area titles and locations. What I'm trying to retrieve in the example above is the string with the label "title_training" from the "text_XML" file. Of course, the function should be able to return the title for any area, so I need to find a way of converting "_element" in to the right format
I have my XML data loading into my SWF OK. However, is there any way to call that tag name instead of the child node number?So instead of something like this[code]...
I would like to make a xmas ecard and want to include the recipient's name and greeting message in the swf.I would like to define the name and message within the url so I can custom it easily and send to different people: http:[url]....
