This is an area of Flash I haven't experimented in, so I don't know where to start. Is it possible to run an SWF, and have Flash export variables externally, as the SWF is running? So for example, export an Array to XML? It doesn't need to be PHP, and stored serverside etc, just written locally on the computer would be fine.

The wordpad application opens with a blank document but it generates an error Error#2044: Unhandled IOErrorEvent:.text=Error #3128: Error while writing data to NativeProcess.standardInput.
I have been struggling with this all week now. I am using as3 and within my movie I have a dynamic text box that contains a score.I need this score to be written to a text file preferbly in an array that only stores the highest 5 scores.I then need values from the array to be read and displayed on another movie which will act as a high score table. e.g. I will have a dynamic text box in my high score move that will display the 1st value in the array, and then the 2nd etc.
writing/reading data to text files.Alternatively if anyone else can suggest another method for a high score table please let me know. I only need a basic high score table that runs on a users local machine as the app i am making is desined to run on individual users machines.

View 3 RepliesI've just been approached my current project needs to run from a CD and write data (bookmarking) to the hard drive. Been told the file will still launch from a html document and not AIR. Orginally had it built in AIR, no problem writing data. I remembered what I thought was a SharedObject but that does not sound right for writing out the data. Which is an xml file I am building from the student login.
Since I can't use AIR is there another function someone knows for writing a file to a location on the hard drive? Time is pressing on this one. I have to have an answer by morning.

View 1 RepliesI have an ArrayCollection bound to an editable DataGrid, another component needs to know when the ArrayCollection changes (as a result of changes in the DataGrid) so it can also update itself, so is listening to the COLLECTION_CHANGE event of the ArrayCollection.
The problem is that the DataGrid only updates the ArrayCollection when the row being edited losses focus. This is not good for my app as a user could edit a column on a row and not click elsewhere on the table for a long time (causing the row to lose fucus), therefore the changes won't have propagated to the other parts of the application.
How can I make the data grid inform the ArrayCollection of a change every time there is a keyup event on a text input instead of every time a row looses focus?
I am building a menu that is to run on a mobile device.. the menu is populated with data from a live xml feed. and then suppose to be both dragable and "throwable" - meaning if you swipe up or down fast is scrolls with a little velocity physics slowing down over time. I wanted this menu to use as little processor power as possible so I am using scrollRect along with all my menu items being set to
cachAsBitmap= true;
Its working for the most part except once it stops scrolling and the user mouse downs on it again to start dragging, it tends to jump up or down like 20-100 pixels.

As3 has FileReference.save() and judging by the amount of searching I've done, as2 doesn't have that simple of a solution. Does anyone have a way even if its hacky to write to a txt file from as2?

View 4 RepliesMy rtmp client connects to the server ok and rtmp data flowing ok for about 4hours, in the wireshark trace I can see that the server just stops sending data roughly after 4hours. The server version is 3.5.1, and I also try it on a 4.0 server the data stops coming from the server as well after 5+hours. There are no errors or any indication of session disconneciton in the diagnostic logs. I have also looked thru the settings in applicaiton.xml and server.xml I just don't see any obviious reason for the issue. I do send rtmp Acknowledgement to server after the client receives "window size" bytes, and the client sends ping response to server.

This would look sooo much better than just having the text box to just appear.
