I am creating an application that takes a user's hand signature, input on the Blackberry playbook. When the JPEG is created, I would like to add Exif data such as the date/time to the JPEG. Does anyone know how to do this, or if it is possible?

I have found libraries from java. But it doesnt fit it in flash builder.

I am using as3 and within my movie I have a dynamic text box that contains a score.I need this score to be written to a text file preferbly in an array that only stores the highest 5 scores.I then need values from the array to be read and displayed on another movie which will act as a high score table. e.g. I will have a dynamic text box in my high score move that will display the 1st value in the array, and then the 2nd etc.
writing/reading data to text files.Alternatively if anyone else can suggest another method for a high score table please let me know. I only need a basic high score table that runs on a users local machine as the app i am making is desined to run on individual users machines.

View 7 RepliesI've just been approached my current project needs to run from a CD and write data (bookmarking) to the hard drive. Been told the file will still launch from a html document and not AIR. Orginally had it built in AIR, no problem writing data. I remembered what I thought was a SharedObject but that does not sound right for writing out the data. Which is an xml file I am building from the student login.
Since I can't use AIR is there another function someone knows for writing a file to a location on the hard drive? Time is pressing on this one. I have to have an answer by morning.
This is an area of Flash I haven't experimented in, so I don't know where to start. Is it possible to run an SWF, and have Flash export variables externally, as the SWF is running? So for example, export an Array to XML? It doesn't need to be PHP, and stored serverside etc, just written locally on the computer would be fine.

I have a client that is running a 64 bit system. On my 32 bit system my Shared Object writes the data without a problem but theres hangs when the call is made to write the data. Any ideas how to go about solving this problem? I would think it would not matter if the system is 32 or 64.

So far, I've tried Flex Builder 3, but I can't figure how to draw the chart dynamically, as the xml data is constantly changing. I just see examples on the internet with xml like "Orange, Banana, Apple", when what I'd like to see is something like "......" and get each item's value and attributes to show in the chart.

An image, like a jpeg, has a bunch of metadata stored in it.The "IPTC Core" metadata usually includes the photographers name,address, title, description, etc.Is there any way to access this information using Flash so that, say, captions for images in a flash gallery could be generated automatically?

View 6 RepliesI have an AS3 swf which users can upload jpg images to my EC2 instances which sit behind and Elastic Load Balancer. The jpg images are converted into bytearray data and sent using URLLoader.load(URLRequest)I make 2 calls when uploading, one to upload a large version, then another to upload a thumbnail version. A PHP script to which the bytearray data is uploaded converts this to a file using file_put_contents($destination,$GLOBALS["HTTP_RAW_POST_DATA"])Is it possible to combine these two requests into a single request which contains both the bytearray data for the large and thumbnail images and 'split' the HTTP_RAW_POST_DATA to create 2 files at the server. This would be better than uploading the bytearray for the large version then using something like ImageMagick to resize the resulting image into a thumbnail which I realise is another option.
View 1 RepliesI've been working on a framework in AS3 that I want to release, but first I obviously need to prepare some documentation for it.I've noticed that quite a few sites have the exact same layout, functionality etc as Adobe Livedocs, which has let me to believe that there's something open source out there for creating online documentation.
Ideally the system would be specifically suited for documentation in ActionScript 3. I don't have a requirement in terms of the documentation being automatically generated either - if there's something out there that looks/works nice I'm happy to manually create the documentation (provided it comes with tools for easily adding classes, arguments, etc).

View 1 RepliesI am sorting an XMLListCollection in alphabetical order. I have one issue though. If the value is "ALL" I want it to be first in the list. In most cases this happens already but values that are numbers are being sorted before "ALL". I want "ALL" to always be the first selection in my dataProvider and then the rest alphabetical.So I am trying to write my own sort function. Is there a way I can check if one of the values is all, and if not tell it to do the regular compare on the values?[code]

I'm just asking what I need to know in order to do this. I'd like to build a certain flash app that takes information (such as a name, paragraph, and/or sentence) saves it, and can then be recalled when a user clicks a button... even if the user has closed out the application.I'm still relatively new to flash, I know enough to get by on basic projects, but I want to expand my knowledge so I don't end up stuck in a beginners rut.Would this require using PHP and Flash? Or can it be done entirely in flash via exporting data to a designated external file?
