I am building an application in flash that speaks to a database using PHP. I know you can remove rows from a database in PHP using a DELETE in the SQL statement. Does anyone know how to delete a file like a jpeg?, I would press a button in flash it would then call some PHP script, does anyone know the PHP to remove a file?
I'm designing a website aiming to provide visual coverage of surfing locations across the UK through the use of webcam images. Each of the images themselves will be retrieved externally,with permission, from various hotels over-looking these locations.I have spoken to someone who has completed a similar project,a widget which retrieves and displays webcam images, which can be viewed here:
An image, like a jpeg, has a bunch of metadata stored in it.The "IPTC Core" metadata usually includes the photographers name,address, title, description, etc.Is there any way to access this information using Flash so that, say, captions for images in a flash gallery could be generated automatically?
I am creating an application that takes a user's hand signature, input on the Blackberry playbook. When the JPEG is created, I would like to add Exif data such as the date/time to the JPEG. Does anyone know how to do this, or if it is possible?
I was hoping for some guidelines on the general best practice for storing data from an XML document. When all is said and done, my whole flash site will be powered by XML, so I want to make sure it is organized properly. Usually what I do is parse the XML, and store all the different sets of data in arrays, but I'm sure there's a better way to do it. I'm no expert though, so I need something fairly straightforward. Here's my initial setup:
var myXML:XML; var myLoader:URLLoader = new URLLoader(); myLoader.load(new URLRequest("xml/presentation.xml")); myLoader.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, processXML);
I am working on a flash file that imports XML values into flash. I used tutorials from this forum and all worked nice. Now i would like to do one more thing but cant find solution or answer to it. Hope that you guys can help me out with it.What i want to achieve is:
I am importing 8 numbers from XML file first 4 called HOT number next 4 called COLD number and i show it in dynamic text boxes in flash file. XML changes and values in the file changes as well.I want to check if imported number is : 1 or 2 or 3 or 7 or 8 or 9 then color of imported number should be red , if number is for example 4,5,10,12,15 then color is black other numbers color green. Numbers are from 0-36 .
I'm struggling shaking my old school AS2 mindset here. I've got a main swf which loads a bunch of subordinate swfs. I need my loaded swfs to see some variables in the main. For instance (example simplified for conversational purposes), let's say I've got a swf loading (we'll say littleSwf), which needs to set its rotation based on a variable (we'll say swfRotation) in the main. The rotation code is inside of the little swf. How does that little swf get told / find out what its rotation number is?
I have data being loaded from a php into an xml class.
My host (which is free for testing purposes) keeps adding data to the php file which causes errors. I need to know how I can delete this extra text before I put the data into an XML class so I do not get the error. I did a trace of the data and this is what comes up below. I need everything below the </data> tag to be removed but do not know how to do this.
know if it is possible to randomize data that is imported from a .CSV file so that it displays as dynamic text in Flash?Or if there might be a thread I could be pointed to? I'm creating a Flash program that can display "flash cards" with terms and their definitionsThe terms and definitions are in their own columns of the .CSV file.Currently, I can display in the dynamic text the data from each column (term and definition), however if I call them particularly. I was wondering if there was a way for me to do this randomly?
I am using Action Script 3.I have loaded some xml data using an external as file called importxml.as.If I put a trace statement in it to access the content it works perfectly.But how do I access the data from the Flash main timeline or from another as file?I am using the statement import xmlimport but if I then write:trace(xmldata.category[1].word[1].text); I get the message;
1120: Access of undefined property xmldata.
If I try this on the main timeline
var myXMLmlimport=new xmlimport();
I get the error message
TypeError: Error #1010: A term is undefined and has no properties.
I have an AS3 swf which users can upload jpg images to my EC2 instances which sit behind and Elastic Load Balancer. The jpg images are converted into bytearray data and sent using URLLoader.load(URLRequest)I make 2 calls when uploading, one to upload a large version, then another to upload a thumbnail version. A PHP script to which the bytearray data is uploaded converts this to a file using file_put_contents($destination,$GLOBALS["HTTP_RAW_POST_DATA"])Is it possible to combine these two requests into a single request which contains both the bytearray data for the large and thumbnail images and 'split' the HTTP_RAW_POST_DATA to create 2 files at the server. This would be better than uploading the bytearray for the large version then using something like ImageMagick to resize the resulting image into a thumbnail which I realise is another option.
I think I must be missing a step here; I have different data being pulled from an array created from xml depending on a variable (_currentTrackNum).. and the data changes if I set a different initial value for it; but if I change the variable once the program is initialized, none of the data changes even though I rerun the call with the changed variable.[code]

I'm looking to build an app for viewing motion JPEG (MJPEG) streams directly from IP/Network cameras. Does anyone know where I can find useful information on this or even if it's possible at all?
I cant believe that Flash will let you load data from a text file then doesn't allow you to do anything with the data other than display it. Surely there must be a way you can do something the data imported ie perform some calculations. Is this beyond Flash or is this something that has been addressed in AS3? All the tutorials I've found all stop at just displaying and 'swonking'.

I am creating an Flex AIR app which imports data from a zip file into a sqlite db. I need to show a progress bar / "Please Wait" spinner animation so that the user waits till the operation completes.
I have tried to put a pop-up spinner animation but the problem is that the spinner stops spinning as soon as the database import queries start executing.
I need to run both the spinner code and the import code simultaneously rather than sequentially.
I have an animation about 30 frames long, the dimensions are 500x700 pixels.I want to use swf instead of gif because of better quality. So should I use png's or jpeg's to animate the swf?Which format does flash like better?
Im using Adobe Flash CS3 PRO. I don't know what's wrong..when I try to import photos into the stage the photos get resized.My photographs are 550px by 413px. I set my stage to the same size. Then I go to import to stage. I click import as a sequence. All the photos are appear smaller on the stage. They are only about 200px.I am basicaly trying to import a sequence of photographs for my stop motion animation.
I am trying to use the bone tool on a jpeg image I edited in photoshop. When I import it I have to "break-apart" the image to use the bone tool on it and all seems fine. but when the pose is set, the image vanishes during the motion.
I have been following this tutorial which works fine, but how do I use a jpg instead of text to do this ?I start a new project with the dimensions of the jpeg needed, but unlike Photoshop, I can't seem to merge the Stage and Jpeg to be as ONE which i think would work with the tutorial.
I have a jpeg loaded into my library, and under the file's properties, I have "export for actionscript" checked, with "one" in the Class field and "flash.display.BitmapData" in the Base Class field.[code]...
So I want to do something very simple I load a jpeg into a bitmapdata instance somewhere in the jpeg is an embedded xmp packet with useful info like image title, caption, copyright info etc... how to read the xmp data from inside a bitmapdata instance??? I have found the xmp library for actionsscript but it is absolutely no help I create actionscript by just creating as3 files in flash and attach my main class to my (empty) .fla file I do NOT use the IDE, FLEX, Flash builder or anything fancy. These are pure custom as3 classes everything is created from code
