ActionScript 2.0 :: Access Shared Object For 2 Or More Swfs?

Jun 21, 2004

Trying to access shared object for 2 or more swfs

Code:

This is what I have on the swf that will flush the object:

swf 1:
user = SharedObject.getLocal("orange3", "/");
if (user.data.firstname == undefined){
_root.loadMovie("LOGIN.swf");

[code].....

I am running it from a shared hosting server I also tried to do a absolute path but it's still not working.

Code:
user = SharedObject.getLocal("http://www.mydomain.com/orange3", "/");
message = "Welcome " + firstname +" "+ name;
_root.loadMovie("Home.swf");

IDE :: Accessing Local Shared Object From Diff SWFs

Jan 19, 2009

I am facing a problem in accessing Local shared object from 2 diff. swfs. Let me explain the scenario clearly.I am developing a radio widget (in maindomain.com for ex)which has a button to open a html page (placed in contentserver.com) as a popup with specific wt and ht. The html page loads the same SWF file of radio widget from "maindomain.com", means whatever changes we do for the SWF in maindomain will be reflected automatically in the popup also.Here where the problem is:

1. Say I am playing radio station "A" in main window and added this station to favourite list (which is done by storing in Share object). So when i open the popup its reflect there.

2. Now when i change radio station "A" to "B" in the popup and added "B" to favourites and closed the popup.

3. When I refresh the main window, I can get both "A" and "B" in fav, as expected.

4. But if without refreshing in main window when I changed to some new station "C" and then open the popup, it has got only radio station "A" in the fav list.

I am pretty sure this is because of Sharedobject.flush(). The thing I am wondering is, why the station "B" which is also pushed to sharedobject when added to favourite is getting deleted when I flush() the SO.?I googled many forums but not satisfied solution for this. Even I tried to get the Sharedobject.getLocal("SO","/") every time before using data in it. but no use.Is it a Flash limitation accessing LSO from diff SWF?

ActionScript 2.0 :: Access The Same Shared Object From Different Flash Movies?

Feb 23, 2003

Is it possible to access the same shared object from different flash movies. I am trying this, and I put the exact same code to access the shared object in the first frame of both movies, but when I update the SO in one of the movies, the other one does not reflect the change. Both movies are in the same folder. Any ideas?

Since it is called a "shared object, I would think that more than one movie could access it, but what do I know. I don't know if it matters, but here is the code:

Flex :: Flash Player 10.1 Crash On Shared Object Access

Jun 14, 2010

since updating my Flash Player plugin from 10 to 10.1, I'm seeing a weird crash when accessing shared objects. Flex Builder's debugger pops up and prints a stack trace like this:

undefined
at flash.net::SharedObject$/getLocal()
at my.code::MyClass$/load()[/my/path/to/my/MyClass.as:27]
(...)

This happens when calling SharedObject.getLocal("someString") for the second time for the same string, though it doesn't always crash. When using another browser on the same machine (not configured as the preferred debugging browser in Flex Builder), Flash Player remains silent. The code is wrapped in a try/catch(Error) block which does not catch this error. I'm using Flex SDK 3.5 and Flex Builder 3 on Mac OS X 10.6.3.

ActionScript 3.0 :: AIR Shared Object Shared Between Flash & AIR?

Mar 13, 2009

I created a very simple experiment to attempt to access the same shared object in Flash Player and AIR.

A Flash SWF creates a local shared object.

A AIR application (being tested from CS3 or installed) opens the same shared object.

The data does not persist. Is this theoretically possible?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Sharing Shared Objects Between Swfs?

Sep 15, 2010

Anyway, Im currently making a flash game in a group as part of a university assignment. We have made several sections to this game in different swf files and need them to all be able to access the same sharedObject. Is this possible? At the moment, the two seperate swf's im using both have the same name for the object, so we assumed this would mean it would work between the two?

Professional :: Loading External Swfs Extending From Classes In The Same Shared Codebase?

Jul 25, 2011

I'm currently developing a game in flash and want to be able to divide up my .fla assets in a way that means artists can work on a game menu .fla in isolation from the game.fla and rest of the game code.If I could briefly explain how I've approached this so far, I would be extremelyMy project is setup like this:HighScoreMenu.fla -> document class HighScoreMenu extending GameMenu class.game.fla ->document class game.asgame.as class loads the published HighScoreMenu.swf and manipulates the menu i.e. animates on and off screen via inherited functions in the GameMenu class.

Now this seemed to work to begin with, until my code evolved and upon going to publish my HighScoreMenu.fla flash started complaining about symbols being used in Game.as that were in Game.fla... If I'm only publishing the HighScoreMenu which extends from GameMenu then why is it even looking to compile Game.as

ActionScript 3.0 :: Flex 1 Swf Loader, Multiple Swfs Importing From Shared Library?

Dec 15, 2009

I'm using Flex builder 3 for my main application (web-based), and I need to load multiple swf files built in flash cs4 (AS3) at different times. The flash swfs import assets from a separate flash swf used as a shared library. I'm using 1 swf loader in flex to keep 1 flash swf loaded at a time.Loading the first swf works fine, but loading subsequent swfs generates an error in importing from the shared library swf.

Here's an example of an error:

"ReferenceError: Error #1065: Variable sharedApps is not defined."

because I assume it doesn't work that way.

ActionScript 1/2 :: 1 Shared Object For Multiple SWF?

Sep 21, 2009

I have 2 ways of accessing info in my course files (SWFs): text-only and audio playback. I'd like to use shared object to store the user preference so it remembers the setting when navigating between screens. It stores info file but each file creates its own shared object.

for example:
<path to the swf>page1.swfcoursename.sol
<path to the swf>page2.swfcoursename.sol
<path to the swf>page3.swfcoursename.sol

Since it writes and reads the SOL file of its own folder, the user setting isn't remembered when switching pages.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Refreshing A Local Shared Object

Oct 13, 2010

I am building an application that uses a Shared Object that is shared (ironically) between 3 separate applications. 1 application listens for updates, and the others update the app. The problem I am having is that I need the main application to be able to detect changes to the Shared Object. Unfortunately there seems to be no events to listen for that are not for 'remote objects'. Because of this I created a timer that gets a new local instance of the shared object every X seconds.I just call the following before I read or write to the sharedObject:[code]This is causing a CPU Hiccup every 3 seconds and bogging down the system. so all this being said, does anyone know of a clean way to refresh a copy of the sharedobject without creating a brand new instance of it
