I am working on a project where i have been given an FLA that has lots of images contained in movieclips that animate when you roll over them. These animations are all contained on the timeline of each separate movieclip, so the code was basically a lot of gotoAndPlay("2") statements and so on.
I have been given it to work on because the different movieclips need to go to a URL read in from an XML file when clicked on, and i have this part working no problem.
I also need to be able to read in image paths taken from the same XML file as the urls, and load these images into a movieclip holder within the movieclips on the main timeline. However the problem that i am having is once the images are loaded into img_holder which is placed inside a movieclip they will not animate on that movieclip's timeline.[code]...

I am generating movieClips dynamically using attachMovie and then using a setInterval to animate them. However, if I repeat the operation the second set of mcs move twice as fast, the third set three times as fast etc. I can't for the life of me work out why.

Of cours i can use a primitive way editing the flash file whenever News are fed but i want to do this just by editing a text file which will contain the news and the flesh box will automaticly take the text and animate it.
I am struggling to find a way to animate a fill of text in Flash CS4. The concept I am looking for is that over a time period have the color rise from the bottom to the top. My initial attempt was to have 2 objects, one filled with the color and the other filled with white. I was hoping to just adjust the borders of the object or text to have it disappear, but that just reshapes the object, not cropping it. If you know how to crop into objects and reveal the object beneath, let me know.

I decided that this was okay but I wanted to change it so text/staff etc.would update dynamically from a text file. Got this working and moved on to simple alpha tween animation.I have several dynamic buttons that fade onto the stage perfectly. When the user selects a button a variable is loaded which updates the adjacent dynamic text box (within a MC). However, if I try to tween this text box, it goes to full alpha if I place stop() in the last keyframe.If I remove stop() it will loop and display correctly.
Basically all I am trying to do, is place a simple text animation on a separate layer and animate it. Every time I insert the first keyframe on the first character of the text I am animating, it turns the whole document white. When I preview it like this, the white "layer" pulses at the set frame rate I have applied. I have played around with moving the layers and what not and I cant get this problem to go away.
I created a somewhat custom Spark button by doing the File > New > MXML skin and basing it on spark.components.button. The problem is that I need to add an extra text field to the button component and dynamically change that text...but of course, the property isn't recognized on a Spark Button.
Is there a simple way to add this field to my custom button skin & its property so it can be addressed? If not, is there a simple way to take what I've done and just extend the Spark Button? I can't seem to find any examples that show how to do it without writing it all up in ActionScript.

I've tried setting up the TextFormat and createTextField as a function that's called on the onRelease handler. I've tried dropping the whole frackin' code in the onRelease function for each button. Neither approach works. I've been digging around on the web, looking for answers, and nothing seems to solve my problem.
I have a code that creates 10 dynamic text fields, along the "y" axis, based on a loop.
What I want to happen is, for each text field that is created, i want the numbers to constantly change based on a timer (they'll all change at the same time, but to random numbers).
Right now, the code below changes the numbers, but keeps stacking the new numbers on top of the old...
