ActionScript 3.0 :: Tweener Resizes Mask But Does Not Animate It?

Apr 27, 2009

First let me say that I am just starting out in AS3 so this may be a simple problem that I am having due to my lack of experience. Goal: I have a mask over a mc that holds video being streamed in. This mask is set to show only a portion of the video and when the user mouses over the mask I want it to expand to show the whole movie. When the user mouses off the mask I want it to re-size back to its original size.Problem: The second time the mouse is over the mask, it does get tweened to the larger size, but you do NOT see the animation occur. It just blinks in.Code:I have included everything but my video class and grid class.For this I have turned off my grid. BTW this my FLA file includes this class. I have this feeding from an xml file, i removed that code. I also have 2 other movies that will function the same as movie1 but I have removed that code. Once I get movie1 working it should be fine for movies 2 and 3.

Code:
import caurina.transitions.Tweener;
import flash.utils.Timer;

Actionscript 3.0 :: Animate Images To Center Of Screen Using Tweener?

May 11, 2009

If you look at my Flash file "Grid.fla" (again see attached files) you'll see a group of 14 images which are loaded from an XML file ("Grid.xml") and when the user rolls their mouse over an image it uses the Tweener library to animate the image into its full size.

The problem is I need the images to animate into the center of the screen - see an example of what I'm trying to achieve by opening the SWF file within the attached ZIP called "StormGallery.swf".

But I have no idea how to do add this type of animation into my "Grid.fla" file!

ActionScript 3.0 :: Targeting Dynamically Created MC Within Another Dynamically Created MC?

Feb 17, 2010

I'm dynamically creating movieclips with dynamically created movieclips inside them and am having trouble with targeting them.Below is a simplified example of what I'm trying to achieve, in the real file there are a lot more movieclips and I'm creating and naming them with a for loop.

This one is just one Sprite created inside another sprite. I can target the top level sprite named "testname". However when i try target the nested MC it throws an error.The bottom couple of traces are just test MCs I've made to make sure i got the syntax right, on targeting nested movieclips.

PHP Code:

var holder:Sprite = new test1();holder.name = "testname";this.addChild(holder);var holder2:Sprite = new test2();holder2.name = "testname2";holder.addChild(holder2);trace(getChildByName("testname").x); //this one traces finetrace(getChildByName("testname").getChildByName("testname2").x);//this throws up an errortrace(testclip1.x);trace(testclip1.testclip2.x);

ActionScript 3.0 :: Dynamically Loading External Jpgs Into A Dynamically Created MC?

May 18, 2009

Essentially, I've got a MC container that's created dynamically based off an XML file (basically for every <title></title> I've got, it makes a new "card"). Now within the context of each <title></title> grouping I've got <imgs></imgs> in which I specify the path to images that are related.All of that works perfectly, save for the external jpg files actually appearing on the stage. The MC I add them to does, but the external image doesn't.My problem is- I can't add the external images until they're completely loaded (or so it appears). The thumbnail BG I use is blank. So I know for a fact that the thumbnail BG isn't occluding the loaded thumbnails.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Dynamically Added Movie Clip Won't Animate

Oct 2, 2009

I am working on a project where i have been given an FLA that has lots of images contained in movieclips that animate when you roll over them. These animations are all contained on the timeline of each separate movieclip, so the code was basically a lot of gotoAndPlay("2") statements and so on.

I have been given it to work on because the different movieclips need to go to a URL read in from an XML file when clicked on, and i have this part working no problem.

I also need to be able to read in image paths taken from the same XML file as the urls, and load these images into a movieclip holder within the movieclips on the main timeline. However the problem that i am having is once the images are loaded into img_holder which is placed inside a movieclip they will not animate on that movieclip's timeline.[code]...

ActionScript 3.0 :: Assign Primitives To New Variables By Reference?

Feb 8, 2011

As primitives are copied as 'value' not by Reference, this doesnt work:

ActionScript Code:
var myPrimitive1:int = 10;
var myPrimitive2:int = myPrimitive1;
myPrimitive2 = 20; // i want this to affect myPrimitive1 too

My goal is to pick a random property on a data Object() and alter that. My approach was to put all the Objects properties into an array, and then randomise that array, and pick the first element. The only problem is of course that, that element is no longer a Reference to the original, so If I change that it wont alter the original...

ActionScript Code:
// Create Data Object
var myObject:Object = new Object();
myObject.primitiveVar1 = "string1";
