Flash is returning decimal floating point formats in evaluation results under the IEEE 754-1985 format.I looked it up and this seems to be how ActionScript 3 was designed to follow that standard which creates these results. This doesn't happen in the ActionScript 2 compiler. It only happens under ActionScript 3, paste these trace statements and compile so you can see what I mean:
this one is ok: Code: Select alltrace(18.49 + 0.01) //returns 18.5
I need a two decimal place precision result as this is for an algorithm that I'm trying to use to round up or down by a penny so I can't simply convert it to an integer but there's no pattern that I can see so I can predict results for it either.I can't have a $18.8999999999995.
Simply put, is there short circuit evaluation in flash. If not, is there a way to do something like it and still retain the elegance of short circuit evaluation?
Im building a pretty simple drawing board in flash, i got this code from this forum and it works fine (there is more to it but this is the drawing part)[code]This works fine. But i want to be able to erase the drawings, step by step this is ths tricky part, ive looked everywhere(ok not everywhere) but in a whole lot of places but the only thing i found is how i could delete everything with removeChild and that in not what i want. Maybe i need to change the function abowe? Please help me to get in the right direction. What should i read about /look at?
I am trying to dispatch an event but not sure when I should do it to get the right results. The first event "submitClicked" is in the right spot and works great. However, the second event "dataReady" seems like it might be a problem. I need it to be dispatched after this.compiledFormData is set.Does AS3 wait for each line of code in a function to be executed before moving on to the next line?
// -------------------------------------------------------------------- public function submitForm() {
i want to duplicate a line 4 times, and move each line on Yaxis, with a delay of 1sec each time. I know i must use setinterval+duplicateMovieClip, but i've got pbs :-( actually, i've got my AS code on my line :
I have decided of using AS3 on my Evaluation Quiz because only AS3 supports saving pdf file. I need this feature for reports/tracking. The question now is where can I get Poll/Evaluation Quiz Template?
We have developed a web application. (Eclipse - Dynamic Web Project). We are deploying it as .war file. We want to implement evaluation period license check on this .war file. (Most of the functionalities are Java SOAP Web services and Web UI is in Flex). I have written a Java code for generating the license file and thread for checking the remaining days. (Checking is continuous as the application is supposed to run for days). What is the best way to implement this functionality on the web application using the generated license file?
Is there a light weight expression evaluator for as3. It should take in a string as a input
something like "5 < 2" and evaluate it to a Boolean say true or false. Of course I gave a simple example but the expression could be complex too. "(3 < 5) && (2 > 5 )"
I'm in the process of teaching myself the components of the CS4 Design Premium package using the Adobe Classroom in a Book series. I'm currently going through the Flash CIAB and i've started using the pen tool. The task involves creating a wave like design across the stage. Whilst this in itself is simple, the final instruction is to click on the first anchor point to close the shape. In the illustration, the closed shape seems to automatically extend around the stage, however when I click on the first anchor point, the line automatically connects between the two points in a straight line.
Am I doing something wrong? The next step is to fill this area, but with the straight line effect that I am getting, this becomes impossible. I should point out that the instruction states that the pen tool line should extend off the stage. I have done this, but even then on clicking on the first anchor point the shape is closed incorrectly.
I am using Flex 4 and AS3 and I am trying to make it so that the user can draw a freehand line with the cursor - I have this part done. However, I also need the line to be a dashed line instead of one solid line like it is now. below is my code I am using. I have found some examples on how to do this, but they are all for straight lines, not for a freehand line.
I want to create a line tool exactly like flash line tool. But the code that I am using shows the line when we release the mouse button. How can I show the lines while it is drawing[code]...
I have some movieclips on my main timeline with a class to extend these movieclips

But the I can't 'reach' the testing function. I get this error: "1061: Call to a possibly undefined method testing through a reference with static type flash.display:DisplayObjectContainer."
I'm currently trying to implement an automated bug reporter for a Flex application, and would like to return error messages to a server along with the function/line number that caused the error. Essentially, I'm trying to get the getStackTrace() information without going into debug mode, because most users of the app aren't likely to have the debug version of flash player. My current method is using the UncaughtErrorEvent handler to catch errors that occur within the app, but the error message only returns the type of error that has occurred, and not the location (which means it's useless). I have tried implementing getStackTrace() myself using a function name-grabber such as [code]
but that will only work because of arguments.callee, and so won't go through multiple levels of function calls (it would never get above my error event listener).Anyone have any ideas on how to get informative error messages through the global error event handler? There seems to be some misunderstanding. I'm explicitly avoiding getStackTrace() because it returns 'null' when not in debug mode.
I'm making an interactive website using ActionScript 3 and no matter what I try and do I keep getting the following error messages:
Characters, Layer 'actions', Frame 2, Line 5 1021: Duplicate function definition.
Characters, Layer 'actions', Frame 2, Line 12 1021: Duplicate function definition .Characters, Layer 'actions', Frame 2, Line 19 1021: Duplicate function definition.
I don't really understand what I'm doing wrong because it says "duplicate function" yet they aren't the same functions. Here is the ActionScript I've used for the first page:
I want to create a line tool exactly like flash line tool. But the code that I am using shows the line when we release the mouse button. How can I show the lines while it is drawing
I'm trying to work out how to create a simple demo that works as follows: A ball falls from the top of the stage.Player is able to draw a line anywhere on the stage. The ball will bounce/roll along the line such that the player can guide it at will. I don't think the coordinate rotation will be a problem for me but I can't figure out how to transform a line drawn by the player into a hit detectable sprite -- or realkly any way that I can get those line coordinates into my coordinate rotation routine. To keep it simple, I'm just working on the first part of the problem, getting the line to where I can hit test or know its position. Here is my code so far:
in Flash CS4 I have static text like: Line1 and line2 It's in 9 point Arial Regular as a device font. If I set the line spacing below 3.9 the second line dissappears from the compiled SWF file. It still shows in the FLA file. The same thing happens at 6pt but NOT at 5pt or less.
Is it possible to load a text file using line breaks as a delimeter rather than having a &var= at the beginning of each line? Like by a for instance? I have a text file with about 1000 lines that I need to load/display.
