what i have:guy with gun who shoots bullet,bullet hits enemy,bullet removes itself,blood attaches above enemy but how would i make the blood attach below the enemy?

I'm trying to attach several movie clips into another movie clip. I can add the movie clips successfully . However, the movie clips start from the middle of the main movie clip that I used as the background layer for the other movie clips. Is there any way to make it located to the top left? Here is the code I used:

scol and srow are the attributes that represents the starting locations from the left and top. (I used 10 for the variables scol and srow the movie should be located 10 pixels away from the top and left) 32 is the height and also width of the movie clip to be added.
(I know sometimes actionscript is not so powerful to implement such kind of processes. Since I have not time to wait for the another version of actionscript

I need to create new object, but in a layer that is below the tope one. So far I tried some commands:

- this one creates object above all other. Changing depth doesn't change anything when it's about objects I put manually in editor.

_root.layername.attachMovie(...);
- this one doesn't work at all.

I'm trying to just attach a movie clip inside of another movie clip, and it's not working...which is beyond me. The following code is written in an actions layer within the first movie clip (main_mc). I want to attach a close button to close an externally loaded swf, and the close button has to be on top of the externally loaded swf, and it's not attaching, so therefore I can't close anything.[code]any glaring mistakes that I can't see? o.O this is really confusing, it seems like such a simple task, I must be missing the greater picture.

I tried to connect a mc to the _root, with the statement

It was linked and everything but for some reason didn't work. Am i overlooking something?

I'm creating this shooter game. I attached a crosshair mc at the beginning with the depth set to getNextHighestDepth.However I keep adding the monsters mc dynamically when the game progresses, also with getNextHighestDepth. So the monster mc will keep overriding the depth of my crosshair's depth. how to get my crosshair mc's depth always to be on top of everything including the monster mc.I tried getNextHighestDepth()+1000 for my crosshair mc. But it was dumb because the monsters keep getting getNextHighestDepth as well. I assume that monster's depth would be 1001, 1002 and so on...

im adding some button movieclips to a swf and for some reason its programmed to always have the dynamic hovers on top, i need to add a few static buttons on top of the dynamic hovers. here is what i tried but it still isnt working

I am attaching a movie, valled targetx it has a second clip inside it, called holder. I am using loadmovie to load an image or swf into the attachmovies holder clip. But, if I use trace(targetx.holder._width) to get the loaded clips width I get 0, which is cleary no correct.

I'm not sure if this can be done, but I'll try my luck here I've loaded external jpg image using loadClip method... Now i want to attach the same image to another dynamically created movie clip. I know i can attach images from library but i need it on this way.
It have to be attached as JPG. I know for bitmap data class and I am already using it but don't know how to attach jpg.

I'm re-arranging how I have the movie set up (I used to have it in multiple .SWF's, but now I'm making it into one big movie), but I've ran into a snag. I don't know how to assign a movie clip a depth. The reason this is a problem is that if I were to attach a movieclip (Say Movie1), it would overlap another movieclip's (Movie2) drop shadow.Movie2 isn't assigned a depth because it's loaded along with the first movie, but Movie1 is assigned a depth when it's loaded on a click

I'm making a game where an airplane loads using attachMovie, with a randomly assigned y coordinate and a constant x. The airplane then moves across the screen. You hit another button, and a parachutist is loaded using attachMovie, with the coordinates being set equal to the current coordinates of the airplane. The parachutist loads but he doesn't load to the coordinates of the airplane. If I feed the parachutist numerical coordinates, he loads to those coordinates, but for some reason Flash seems to be completely ignoring my attempts to feed the plane's coordinates to the parachutist. Here's the relevant code, which is of course nested in an onEnterFrame function:

As I've said, the jumper loads, he just loads in the upper corner of the game, as if the plane's coordinates are ignored and Flash attaches jumper to the default coordinates of the program. If I try to attach the jumper to the using the coordinates of something that's not in motion, it works, so I'm wondering if this has something to do with the motion of the plane.

I've got a looping slideshow. I'd like to place a sliding menu at the bottom of the screen. The problem is I've created the slideshow dynamically, and the images being loaded all inherit a depth greater than 0.
how I can place the sliding menu at the very top of the presentation when it's already on the stage?

i need to create a border in my movie. i've used two buttons for two different types of borders and a NumericStepper to specify the thickness.i createEmptyMovieClip an mc and then i use moveTo and lineTo to draw the rectangular border inside it.now, every time the new thickness is specified, a new border should appear and replace the older one. so how do i do this??
i tried using a constant depth value which solved this problem.
i have a movieclip already on stage, placed manually by me.i dont want it to get overlapped by the border and so i used swapDepths for it. but if i use a constant depth, every alternate swapDepths puts this movie clip behind the border.so, first time the border's behind. now i change thickness and again apply border, the border is over my movieclip.how do i solve this so that the borders replace themselves and the mc on stage remains on top??

I have about 85 movie clips on stage and they all have startDrag with MOUSE_DOWN.
here is the thing I need the active one to come forward to the top of all others.
I tried using:
setChildIndex(e.currentTarget, 85)
on the mouse over function but its not working its giving me an error

im trying to make a third-person shooter game similiar to those "hide" when you press Down and "attack mode" when you stand Up, sort of like Time Crisis.I've done first person shooter games before.The hero character's move clip contains three clips, one of him in hiding, one in attack mode, and the last being hit. How do I script it such that the "hide" clip does not receive any commands from the enemy clip (which tells the hero clip to advance to "hit" clip and lose a health").

I am currently making a game, similar to StreetFighter,where enemies will come on from the side and you fight them. Now i have the character movement and attacks fully scripted, and have made an enemy, and i make it move towards the character using:

Now this works quite well and the enemy stops when it hits the character, but the problem is, it wont complete a full attack, instead it plays a few frames of the attack MC. Now i have every attack in a different MC (Frames 2-5) inside the Enemy MC. How can i make the enemy pause when it reaches the character, then choose an attack to use? From there i'll be on my way and can script the hittest and so forth.

I have a ball (instance name is "ball") and if I hit the enemy ball (instance name is "enemy") it'll dissappear, and add 100 points. At the same time, I want them to multiply and get faster.The enemy has a follower code:

Im building a game where i would like the blood stains (when shooting people) to never disapear. Now i just spawn a movieclip/sprite on the map whenever a body is been hit, and just leave the stain there. The problem is that this gets very choppy after a while and the fps is plummeting...
I also spawn gun shells after every shoots been fired, and thats flawless, it never lags one bit. I guess this is due to the tiny size (compared to the blood stains)?
I would have given up if i would not have found this game, where it works without any lag - at all. In this game the blood stains are never removed and all bodies are still on the ground, no lag. [URL]..
