the clips flie sizes will be big.
i'd like to call the clips in after the banner is loaded... how do i do this?

We're making a viral video which is going to be distributed as FLV movie file free for download and redistribution.
I don't know much about flash yet but I can imagine FLV is just some sort of special flash application which can also include arbitrary code.
Is it possible to track how many times that movie file has been played by letting the FLV file perform a server-callback when playback begins?
Both files are running on the same domain.I am simply calling a another movie within a movie using the global variable feature.Howver even hardcoding the variable _global.directionsText the import-html.swf movie returns a undefined error

I'm working on a Flash MX application which involves a Parent movie and a Child movie.
I've loaded the Child movie into the Parent movie using LoadMovie. The instance name of the Child movie is Child1.
In the Child movie I have a user-defined function called getChildXML (we don't need to get into more details about the function).
The point here is that I want to call the getChildXML function from the Parent movie. I've tried something like Child1.getChildXML(); but with no luck.

I can get the XML to call and 9 images to display as here: [URL] This is fine in itself but I want things to occur underneath the 9 images so I'm trying to preload all the images on the _root. and call the images inside a looping movieclip. The problem is that I can't get the functions inside the movie clip to call the XML - as here [URL]

Is it possible to call full screen video from outside of a movie, like from a link? I have the full screen button on my player, but would also like to have a text link in the body of my html to launch full screen.

how i can do what i'm doing here without doing it the long way? The only other way i know how to do this is do if statements and duplicate heaps of code, one for each corresponding value...
im not still working on the project currently... but... im just curious about somthin... i was making a website for a project for school... and i was calling movie clips within movie clips with a lot of telltarget... then within one of them i had a button and i wanted to go to the second scene... but it wouldnt work... it wouldnt go to the scene... my friend had the same problem with somthing he was working on... im just curious if there is a way... like maybe a path or somthing for the scene...
oh yeah... also say i have a movie clip called "clip1" and a movie clip within "clip1" called "clip2"... ok... if i am in "clip2"... is there a way i can access "clip1" from inside of it... like using telltarget sort of inside out like i guess...

View 1 RepliesI have a main movie and a sidebar movie within it. In the sidebar movie, there is a tab that will insert text from an XML document based on the location of the playhead in the main timeline. I was thinking there must be some way to do an 'if else' statement to have the sidebar movieclip look for the playhead location in the main movie and get the appropriate child node based on that. However, I am not experienced enough in AS3, and I don't think I'm writing the function correctly. Here is the code, but there is also a link to the file I'm working with in case this code doesn't make sense:

I have a swf streaming an flv with the default controls from Flash. Is there a way to call a javascript function when the pause button is clicked? And then another when the play button is clicked?

I have tried everything i know to get this to work but nothing has. I am trying to place external file by calling the url into my movie. It works but I cannot position it. I have tried using mc but when i do that the file will not load. my script is below whith the url.

I came across a problem last week, I haven't looked at again. But I thought I would post the question here first before messing around with the code to save myself some heartache.
Is it possible to target a movie calling in ASP to an empty movieclip. When I was playing around with it at the weekend, it didn't seem to work it just hung when the movie tried to return the ASP.
Is this because when using ASP + Flash, the movie needs to be at level0?
I need to call a function inside a Flash Movie via JS (to update a textfield and sum Vars) can someone point me in the right direction???I tried to figure out the external interface api, but i dont understand how it really works ... I am trying to attachMovie from array.
Here it goes like this:

At frame 10, I have a movie clip that animates and stops. Inside of that movie clip is a button that I want to go back to frame 2 when someone clicks on it. I want to be able to click on that button and call the function above.

When I put that code on the movie clip keyframe on the root timeline, I get this error.
TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference. at intmap_fla::MainTimeline/frame1()
The addEventListener is laying on the keyframe in which the movie clip is. Why can't I call that function later on where the movie clip shows up?
I am having problems with a flash project I am working on (flash cs5.5, as3).I have a movie clip with some animation in it, and when it reaches a certain point, I want it to call out a function that is on the first key frame on the stage (as in on the main timeline and not in a movie clip...).This is what I have so far in side that movie clip:

Is my code on the main timeline. TriggerTween is a simple Y-tween that triggers an alpha tween inside my target movieclip. I need to have the option to trigger the alpha tween with the Y tween from inside my target movieclip.
I'm building a portfolio site for an art director. He has access to final swfs but not fla files, and I'm calling these final swfs into a main movie, using MovieClipLoader. The external swfs live in subfolders, relative to the location of the main movie. The problem, of course, is that when the external swfs are loaded they look for any additional swfs relative to the movie they're loaded into, and not relative to the folder they're located in. I've tried _lockroot -- no dice.

I have two buttons one button is calling in a movie clip with tween and then a second button that is also calling in a movie clip into the same spot. I want to make it so that when ever you are calling a movie clip in is that it moves the other movie clip away or that it lands on top of the old one. Here is the code.

the problem is that it the second movie clip is always on top even though thay are on the same layer.
I'm trying to call a function called checkForHit() located inside of my Hero class at a particular frame of an attack animation of my Hero object. Meaning, when his weapon is at the point in the animation where it could collide with any enemies, I want to call the function that performs the check.My Hero Movie Clip is set up where it contains a Movie Clip on different frames that coorespond to the different animations (attacks, movements, etc). So the Hero MC contains a bunch of other MCs. That way I can just use hero.gotoAndStop("attack1");
The problem that I'm having is that the code that I wrote to call the checkForHit() function is written on one of the frame of the nested MC's timeline, and it's not being recognized. In fact, even if I put a trace("HELLO") on any of the frames on the nested MC, it's not being output. I even tried to put something that I know should cause an error on one of the frames, and it ran without throwing an error. It's almost like the code on the timeline isn't being compiled, or it's being skipped over somehow.
I've looked through similar question on this site and can't find a solution, so here is my problem: I have a save function that saves some data.This function is in 1 movie clip in another movie clip. After the save I want to gotoAndStop(1) of the main time line not the current nested one. Below is the code:
