ActionScript 2.0 :: Control A MovieClip Animation Based On A NetStream Event?

What I am trying to do is get the animation of the audio levels (red bars next to the power switch) to only happen while a video is actually playing (videos are in the video gallery section). I have the animation done and I can easily get it to start and stop based on pressing the play and stop buttons, but since they start and pause the video you would get instances where the video isn't playing but the audio levels would be animated, which I don't want.
Here is an example of the code in the play button (using NetConnection and NetStream to play the videos):

The only way I can think to make it work exactly as I want it is to have Flash look to see if the video is actually playing or not and I can't figure out how to do this or if its even possible using the NetStream command I am using to start and stop the videos.

I have an enemy movieclip.Inside that movieclip I have a motion tween so it moves around on the stage, then inside that movie clip I have an animation of his feet moving so it looks like he is walking as he moves across the stage. Also in that same animation of him walking is an image of him laying down and dying on frame 6.I just have the walking animation looping as the playhead gets to frame 5 so it won't show him dying.So what I want to know is how do I make it so when my hero shoots him with a bullet..the enemy goes to that dying image on frame 6 and stop.I can already make it so the bullet will kill an enemy if it is just movieclip>inside movieclip.But I don't know how to make the code communicate to make it work when its movieclip>inside movieclip>then inside that movieclip.

I am trying to create a simple play, stop, rewind. fforward controller. I have the slideShow and the Control in the same time line. As the enterframe event is nested inside a function it will rewind but then none of the other buttons will work as I am not able to removeEventListener for the enterframe event.

I have two MovieClips, and both are controlled by keyboard events. One is a globe that I want to rotate in one direction or the other. The second is a walking animation that should change direction or stand still depending on which key is pressed or if none are.
Here is the AS Code:

You can see that I've tried a few different methods, but neither has worked correctly. Using the timer came close, but then the globe kept speeding up, and I couldn't get the walking animation to default back to the standing animation. Here is the .fla [URL].

I have a series of movie clips (flv's). All are the same movie clip of a rotating object but it's different colour in each clip.When one clip is playing and I click to play another, I would like the clicked movie clip to start playing from the same position at which the previous clip was at. So if a clip had played for 3 seconds and I click a different clip, I would like it to seek and play from 3 seconds instead of 0.[code]Can anyone tell me how I would go about tracking the data of how many seconds of a clip has played?My guess is that it will either be metadata or NetStatusEvent related.

I have a video chat application where there can be 6 participants. What I would like to do is give the option to each publisher to control their own stream's volume. The code I have looks like this.

A possible solution can be this : Calibrate the slider and set the microphone gain, a gain of zero effectively is mute and a gain of 100 is full volume.

I'm using netStream to stream dynamically loaded flv's into a video gallery. I've created a "buffering" animation called "bufferCounter" that loops while the stream is buffering. However, it keeps reappearing at odd times in front of the movie.
I'm assuming it's doing this because the buffer is no longer at 100%, but I can't seem to work around it.

I'm just trying to build as simple of a player as possible, and I have it working how I want it to, but I need to figure out how to know when the video ends so I can call any callback functions I might want to be called.I've spent the better part of the last 3 hours trying different examples online, but none do anything. It compiles fine, but just doesn't do anything...

I am trying to detect the end of a streaming video using NetStream.onStatus in AS2. It worked like a charm in a Flash app but I started having problems when I decided to put it in a separate AS class. Here's the snippet -->

The code works fine and fires an event when the stream stops (I get the trace output without a hiccup). Problem is: it doesn't seem to recognize MyMethod function - or any other method of this class for that matter - for some reason! Just ignores it! When I set trace traps inside MyMethod they don't fire.

I rarely use NetStream or any video in my projects, but someone I email with was wondering this, and I have no earthly idea.
Is there any reason why the NetStream's "onMetaData" event cannot be listened to using addEventListener, but instead requires you to use a callback function?
Is it faster, avoiding the overhead of events? Is it to prevent more than one listener being attached?

So Im trying to get the current time (play head time) for a video on the stage and am using Netstream. I have a timer with an event listener pinging a function every 1000ms. But it is not smooth and the numbers jump a bit.
Is there a way to attach an event listener to the netstream time itself?
I tried ns.addEventListener(NetStatusEvent.time, monitorTime); but as you probably know that Dog wont hunt.

The app I want to build is an interactive map for a site I'm designing. In a nut shell, students looking to enter an exchange program should be able to use the map-image (as in, an actual 'map of the world') to preview possible destinations (I've attached an image of the two basic states to clarify).
After an introductory animation, I want a mouse-over to trigger a function that populates the map-image with a series of buttons. I need the buttons to be distributed according to information in an XML file (ie. x/y coords, some information text, and an animation to load upon being clicked). I want each button to call a mouse-over function that loads info data from an XML field and place it in a dynamic text field at the top. Then, I want each button, when clicked, to call a function that animates replacing the map-image with an image of the corresponding travel destination. Finally, I want a button on each image that will clear that image from the stage and call the function that populates the map so the process can start again.
I'm working out of a couple of books on AS3, but I'm a little hazy on how I ought to be constructing this thing. So here's the first place I've run aground: After the intro animation, I want the user to mouse-over the stage and have a second animation play (clearing away the introductory text), and I want the conclusion of the clearing animation to immediately call the map-populate function; but I don't want a mouse-over to have any effect until the introductory animation is finished. Is there an event dispatched automatically at the end of an animation? What is the event listener class?
I'm not sure if I should be storing each of these animations in an independent .fla file or if I should create them on all one timeline and have the program redirect to specific frames.

I'm loading and progressively streaming an F4V Video using pure actionscript code (No playback component used) and after the video begins streaming I place a MUTE button on the stage that when clicked executes the SoundMixer.stopAll(); instruction.
When the movie completes playing I use the following code to monitor the NetStream state changes and place a NEXT button on the stage when the video finishes.
When the video completes there is a NetStream event.info.code issued - "NetStream.Play.Stop"

Does anyone know of an existing flash (swf) based audio control that is available (free or commercial) that provides a timeline waveform visualization with the ability to select and play a portion of the timeline?For example, the flash control used by this website... http:[url]....It does exactly what I'm wanting to do. I need this capability to allow a user to mark a section of an audio file which can then be synchronized with other visual elements on a web page using javascript.
It is important that the user be able to see the wave form of the audio because they can save time by visually guessing where certain sounds start and end in a file. The user can then select this block of the audio and preview the sound and tweak the selection if need be.

The stop button plays as expected. The play/pause button plays as expected. The issue is when you press pause which will cause the play button to appear, then press stop. the video automatically plays and it shouldn't. I have bolded the control button script for convenience.

I have a thumbs_mc with thumbnail images. Within thumbs_mc, I have a transparent overlay_mc that functions as a button. Mouse over the overlay_mc and the alpha chages so there is a tint over that particular thumbnailWhen overlay_mc is clicked, the main timeline goes to a particular frame label.What I need to do is have the position of the playhead on the main timeline also determine the alpha of the overlay_mc so the viewer knows which thumbnail is playing.

I am trying to make an animation where the user can mouse over a small MC at the top of the stage, which controls the movement of another larger MC at the bottom of the stage.I am thinking that 'points' (which I know nothing about) might be the way to go. The other thing is that it needs to be fluid motion. Am I at least on the right track with points and mouse_move or is there a better approach for this?

I have 3 text fields that display weather conditions from the Weather.com XML web service. The 3 text fields need to be visible only during a certain segment of the Flash Video that is set as the application's background. Do I use AS3 to specify visiblity? I have a flash animation I'm working on for a Web site and the java-based menu that's above it uses drop-down menus. Well, when the drop-down menus and the flash animation overlap, all you can see is the flash. The menu is behind it. This only happens on a PC-based browser. It is fine on a Mac. Any thoughts here? I feel this could be pretty basic for you guys. Here's the deal: I need an external swf to check a var's value and decide how to animate. If value == "something" then animate in like this, else, animate in like that. Now, a file is loaded with LoadManager class, and a function from this class sends a string to the loaded swf, and based on that string it animates out. I've tried to make the same function set a public var's value inside the LoadMangaer class, but i can't acces it from the external swf.
It will probably make sence when you look at the fla and the LoadManager class, so here's the attachment.Hope you can help, I've been dwelling on this for ages. Tnx a million.

I have a question regarding preloaders.I am wondering if someone could help me figure out how to display an animation based on how much data has downloaded.For example.I have a preloader, it gets to 10% or xxx bytes loaded, I want a movie clip to play (or whatever, sparks to fly, etc.), then at 20% or zzz bytes, another movie clip plays (or again, something else happens).So basically I want the movie to react to how much of it has been downloaded.A real world example of this that I can find quick is.url...(ya ya, everyone uses this as their example).The loader seems to animate based on how much of the movie has actually loaded.play an animation, movie clip, etc based on how many bytes/percent, has loaded.
