I have a flash animation I'm working on for a Web site and the java-based menu that's above it uses drop-down menus. Well, when the drop-down menus and the flash animation overlap, all you can see is the flash. The menu is behind it. This only happens on a PC-based browser. It is fine on a Mac. Any thoughts here? Any settings I'm missing here? The file is built in Flash CS4 using ActionScript 3.0. Here's the URL for the site (problem on home page when "Resources" menu drops down):
For example, Flash records voice and sends it to the server where Java or C# apps can proccess it and return back some data (or write it to db). How this communication possible, which protocols sould be used and etc.
I'm making my new photography site, and it's going to be entirely in flash. I'm an intermediate flash person, but there is something I'd like to do with my menu that I can't figure out how to do. I'm going to have 4 buttons:
I would like to create an Options Menu in my Flash AIR application for Android. I've figured out already, that this ActionScript code could be used for capturing the hardware Menu button press event:
But how do you create the actual menu? If you can't do it with AIR, then has anybody tried to recreate/mimic it manually already and could you please share the properties (colors, transparency, any gradients?) and transitions (sliding in/out) you've used? I've found some guidelines already, but any Flash-specific tips/properties (like which easing to use for sliding transitions?).
I have 4 animations and based on the speed of the internet i want it to change between each depending on the speed.
e.g...
0 - 10kb/ps - 1st MC 11 - 30kb/ps - 2nd MC 31 - 50kb/ps - 3rd MC 50+ - 4th MC
My idea is to have like a glass of water... and for the 1st MC the water filling it up is only a drip... and then 2nd MC is a slow stream of water etc etc and then final MC is water gushing in filling the cup up faster until it's full...
I think this might be a bit hard for me... as i can't even make a preloader... everytime i try the SWF file just stays blank until it's fully loaded... haha... but i'll read tutorials and stuff... i'm rather basic with Flash and just learn what i need to learn as i get to it... I also need the transition between each change (say from 1-10kbps - 51+) to be smooth rather than just having it going from a drip to gushing water... but i think i'll just have to make animations for each and then IF statements to deal with that issue..
I typically try and stay away from adding a flash animation that has 3 static text links to a Dreamweaver html file but my client requested it. Basically, I have this flash animation as an swf file and need to have 3 links inside the swf file open to a page below. Please see the way my site is structured below. I am not sure if I need to edit the links more in flash with more action script code or if there is an easy way to integrate it. I was thinking of basically having the animation play and then load to a second scene with a png and links inside of it but I would prefer to learn how to do this in code or within the flash file.
Also, when I try and use a static text link it won't recognize what I have below as an actual link. Does anyone know what the proper format to write a link in flash is so it will pull a div box to load below? I guess the formatting in link (see the chain icon text) is an unrecognized protocol and I am used to the Dreamweaver formatting of links.
I'm developing a web-based fantasy football game. Most of the game is a straight-forward web application built on top of Linux/Apache/Php/MySQL.
I'm trying to figure out how to implement the draft application. The draft date and time will be scheduled in advance by each league's owner. Up to 32 users may be logged on for a given league's draft, and there is no limit to how many drafts may be happening concurrently. The users will take turns selecting players, and each user's turn will have a time limit. I'd like for all the users to be able to see whose turn it is, how much time that user has left to select a player, who they select, and which players are still available. If there are users in the league who are not logged in during the draft I'd like to be able to detect that and automatically assign players to them rather than waiting for the time to run out on their turn. Ideally I'd also like to have a chat window so the users could chat with one another during the draft.
My background is in desktop application development, so if necessary I could write server code in C#/.NET or Java. As far as I can see these are the options: PHP/AJAX - It seems like it would be possible to have all the state for the draft in the database and have the operations for the draft run in PHP triggered by requests from the clients? I guess in this case the draft doesn't start until at least one user logs in, and it seems like it would be a lot of polling requests to the server if I want everyone notified quickly when a user makes a selection.
I'm trying to integrate Seam and Flex with GraniteDS, with the goal of implemenenting a code generation tool for main use cases of CRUD operations. One of my needs is to have the possibility to generate a combo box to reference a parent entity from another. For example, a state combo box in my county edition/creation screen.
My only experience with Flex is some limited reading over the web. What i am wondering is if i want to use Flex or some variant of it for generating reports, specifically Charts, coming off a Java/Oracle backend can i accomplish that in an environment where the streaming media (we cannot play videos on our systems at work) is turned off? Also, are there any other restrictions revolving around using Flex for reporting in the form of charts? Currently, we use Jfree Chart API to develop charts but just exploring an alternative.
I have an application that is coded using Flex 3 on UI side and java @ the service layer, along with BlazeDS. Now we need to authorize the users accessing the system based on the roles that are defined for them in the database, e.g. : say a user with role guest should not be able to access Admin tab on ui and also should not be able to do any operations other than viewing the data displayed on dashboard. Also the point to note here is that roles can be created dynamically by Super users from UI. I came across this link which describes how to perform Role Based Authentication & Authorization. With this approach I need to define the roles in service-config.xml but since my roles are not pre-defined I cannot go with this.
I have a couple flash animations I made for some websites, not too complicated mostly timeline animation and I am getting the same problem when I embed them into the html. The flash covers the jQuery drop down menu when you hover over the navigation. I did not create the navigation and it is behind a CMS.
I need to develop a browser based application that record the user screen, much preferably on flv. Also doing that with java would be perfect. That's exactly what they accomplished at [url].... , with just a javaWS app.
I have an application on Google App Engine that is made of Adobe Flex [and Java] components. The app has buttons to do tasks related to the app, including an "Open" button, which allows the user to open a .XML file, which then gets converted into data/content that's displayed in the app GUI. Then I press the "Run" button and it calculates stuff related to the inputted data/content. Also, my datastore is setup using JDO. I'm using only GAE. I'm NOT using GWT.
Based on the nature of the calculations (algorithms) I'm running, I would benefit from being able to open an XML file and then click the Run button on my app simultaneously on lets say 5 different versions of my app that I have uploaded to app engine. The 5 versions would be identical. Is there a way to create, say, an HTML page where the user would provide a link to the XML file (or open/load it from their disk) to be processed, then press "Go," where then the XML file is passed to all 5 versions of my app, then "automatically presses the Run button" on each?I can do this manually at the moment by going to each version-specific URL for my app, but it takes too long. Do you have any suggestions for how I would go about setting up such a script?
EDIT: Motivation for the problem: It's not XML processing time that I'm worried about. I currently have 2 algorithms that compute the number of particular types of "special points" that exist in an inputted XML file which contains large amounts of data. The difference between the two algorithms is that the 1st searches until it finds every special point. Then it stops. The 2nd searches and stops when it finds the first special point it comes across. Using multiple instances of this 2nd algorithm, one has the potential of finding all the points faster than the 1st algorithm.
Basically there will be a club and a ball. You can control the power and angle to hit the ball. How do I go about implementing this? Is flash the easiest way to go? I want to implement this as a facebook game. Any game libraries specific to this I can use to quickly implement a basic version? I am comfortable with Java and PHP.
And behind the scene what it is asking that you instantiate a class as such: new Source("blooper", new Exp(4), new Erlang(4,6); The problem lies in the fact that you don't know what class you will need to processing, and you will be sent a list of these class definitions with instructions on how they can be linked to each other. I've heard that using a BeanFactoryPostProcessor might be helpful, or a property editor/convertor. However I am at a loss as to how best to use them to solve my problem.
I want to create a simple animation of a game so you can see the playout of a game. It should be an animation in which you just see the game Tic-Tac-Toe played. I have the states of the games in a description. So player 1 marks a cell = state 1; player 2 marks a cell = state 2 etc.. I currently have the game parsed in a ruby program; it will be easy to display just one state (like in the image), but how do I create an animation from it? Is there an easy way to do this? I'm open to solutions in every language but it shouldn't take to much time to implement. I want to show such an animation in a presentation.
I want to program a language learning Program for kids. I want it to have animations, quizzes with drag and drop and a lot of graphic effects. i want to know which language is good for client side and which is good for desktop application. I am programming with java.
I followed the XML based menu by senocular a long time ago and modified it to display a title when the sub menu is chosen simply a movie with an image of a menu button in it: http:[url]....I need to modify this so that when the title is hovered over it displays the sub menu. Essentially imitating the behaviour when the first menu is hovered over.
I feel this could be pretty basic for you guys. Here's the deal: I need an external swf to check a var's value and decide how to animate. If value == "something" then animate in like this, else, animate in like that. Now, a file is loaded with LoadManager class, and a function from this class sends a string to the loaded swf, and based on that string it animates out. I've tried to make the same function set a public var's value inside the LoadMangaer class, but i can't acces it from the external swf.
It will probably make sence when you look at the fla and the LoadManager class, so here's the attachment.Hope you can help, I've been dwelling on this for ages. Tnx a million.
I have a client-server multigame suite for PC ("kind of" cross-platform using cygwin), which is developed in Java(game menus and database management), C++ (server side), and adobe Flash (game graphics & interaction).
I have never tried to develop for android, so i have no experience.I am thinking of migrating this suite to google TV. So i would like someone with android experience to give a clue on the following :
1) Is it going to be easy to migrate the Java application to an Android application?
2) What kind of Flash support does Android have? Can it load directly swf applications? Does it have to load swf's through browser?
3) Can i find any kind of performance indexes for google TV hardware?
I need to load somehow the html code of a webpage A into a javascript string of another webpage B, on a different host. I know this is impossible to do with javascript alone because of the same origin policy, and I know I could do it loading the page via php on my server and then send results back to the user's client but I wouldn't be able to handle so many requests, so I need it to be done directly by the user's browser. I can use nearly whatever browser scripting language/applet framework common enough to be installed on the majority of my users' computers, like flash and java.On example, what if I use flash or java to load the external html code and then call a javascript callback function providing the source? Could this work?
If one doesn't have the source code, the only to test is to send keystroke and mouse move so I found this product but it's not free and opensource price is not even known :([URL] Squish supports automating interactions and testing non-HTML/DOM elements, that is, native objects, which are embedded in a web page. This is done at a fairly abstract level, which means that mouse and text input can be recorded and replayed.
In addition it is possible to inspect embedded native objects with the Spy tool and to insert verifications for these native objects. All of a native object's public properties can be accessed in test scripts.
This is one of my first posts, so be kind! I'm slowly getting back into Flash after a hiatus (I was pretty good with Flash 5), and I've been adapting Kirupa's XML-based menu tutorial to my company's needs. As users drill down to the 2nd and 3rd tier of menus, I need the script to load and display images (preferably with a preloader), the links of which would be provided in the accompanying XML document (I based our XML doc off of Kirupa's example as well).
// generates a list of menu items (effectively one menu) // given the inputted parameters. This makes the main menu // as well as any of the submenus
Right now I got a problem creating a drop down menu , which drops down the menu when a mouse hovers the panel. The panel is a Button. The Drop Down Menu is a MovieClip.I added an MouseEvent.MOUSE_OVER and MouseEvent.MOUSE_OUT for the panel(Button). And the EventListeners will do the animation of the drop down menu -- fade in and out using TweenLite. However, this cause a serious problem: since the MouseEventtargets the Button only, when I roll over The Drop Down Menu, it will perform MouseEvent.MOUSE_OUT since it roll out the Button! The only thing I can think of is using addchild() which add the Drop Down Menu to the Button so the hit area of the Button extends. But I cannot use addchild() method on a Button which don't have addchild().here's my code:
I have a question regarding preloaders.I am wondering if someone could help me figure out how to display an animation based on how much data has downloaded. For example.I have a preloader, it gets to 10% or xxx bytes loaded, I want a movie clip to play (or whatever, sparks to fly, etc.), then at 20% or zzz bytes, another movie clip plays (or again, something else happens). So basically I want the movie to react to how much of it has been downloaded.A real world example of this that I can find quick is.url...(ya ya, everyone uses this as their example). The loader seems to animate based on how much of the movie has actually loaded.play an animation, movie clip, etc based on how many bytes/percent, has loaded.
Try to wrap my head around why sometimes a timeline base animation will run choppy in some browsers. Is it processor speed vs frame rate. I boosted my framerate to 29.97 but on older computers the animation is very arthritic.
I have a project which consists of 4 frames (+ one starting frame), where each frame contains a Timer class based-animation. You can visit each frame by selecting the appropriate button.
Let's say the animation in frame1 lasts for a total of 30 seconds, but I'm too impatient to watch it and decide to go frame2, which also I don't like. In the background however, the animation for frame1 is still running, for when I go to frame 2 and go back to frame1, the animation starts both from the beginning and also continues to play from where I left off.
I also get an error:
TypeError: Error #1009: Kan geen eigenschap of methode benaderen via een verwijzing naar een object dat null is. at fl.transitions::TransitionManager/saveContentAppearance() at fl.transitions::TransitionManager/set content() at fl.transitions::TransitionManager()
