I have a couple flash animations I made for some websites, not too complicated mostly timeline animation and I am getting the same problem when I embed them into the html. The flash covers the jQuery drop down menu when you hover over the navigation. I did not create the navigation and it is behind a CMS.

Using invisible buttons works, but I can no longer see the animation. If I put it under the movie clip layer, it no longer responds. Is normal, or should I place the invisible button within the editable movie clip?

View 2 RepliesI'm currently working on a project where i use SWFObject to include a flash header (some fire animation). Also I'm using jQuery for serveral animations and effects on the page, like Imagesliders and hovering effects.The problems I got:high CPU usage: about 50% on a Intel Q9550 low frame rates of jQuery animations due to the high CPU usage.The flash animation seem to stuck when i trigger any jQuery animations or effects.I tried to remove serveral jQuery animations and simplify the page, but also with only an hover menu, the flash animation stucks and the jQuery animations are laggy when hovering the menu.The only browsers where my page runs smooth are Chrome and Opera, but only with high CPU usage. FF3&4 and IE7-9 produce bad frame rates all time.I tried to reduce the jQuery internal fx interval, that seems to help, but the animations were not smooth any more. Am I the only one having this issue, i could not find any other postings here with that topic?!url...We changes the graphic card of the computer, from a GeForce 8400GS to a 8800GT. After that, the animation run smooth. I never thought that it would be the graphic card ^^

I have a Flash video which sits in a small box on the side of my website and plays video.When the user clicks on a 'View larger' button I need it to display in a lightbox - but continue playing from the same place.A simple piece of jquery like this works fine to move the video to another DIV (such as a jquery UI popup window).

However in Chrome + FF it restarts the video from the beginning - basically it reinitializes the <object>.My solutions are either : Position it absolutely with CSS in the first place and move it to the popup with CSS and some nasty JS event resize handlers. Remember the position and just instantiate a new video player and make the user live with the delay of rebuffering
I'm doing photo gallery and like to enlarge an image when I click on it with some animation like it's in flash (the picture slowly expands first by x-axis and after by y-axis and the space around the picture dims), that it scales to it's largest possible size to fit in screen, but it can be any other animation. I found some topics about this, but I don't want to use any 3rd-party plugin (including flash, drupal...) to do it. Maybe it can be somehow done by jQuery...

I'm using the HTML5 JW Player. It sizes the HTML5 video correctly, but shrinks the Flash fallback player; here's an example page: Test Page
If you view that page in IE, you'll notice that on panel 5, the video is smaller than the space it's supposed to occupy. On Firefox, it works fine because it's using the OGG video in its HTML5 video player.Is there a way to resize the Flash video via JavaScript/jQuery to fit the same space as the HTML5 video?
I typically try and stay away from adding a flash animation that has 3 static text links to a Dreamweaver html file but my client requested it. Basically, I have this flash animation as an swf file and need to have 3 links inside the swf file open to a page below.Please see the way my site is structured below. I am not sure if I need to edit the links more in flash with more action script code or if there is an easy way to integrate it. I was thinking of basically having the animation play and then load to a second scene with a png and links inside of it but I would prefer to learn how to do this in code or within the flash file.
Also, when I try and use a static text link it won't recognize what I have below as an actual link. Does anyone know what the proper format to write a link in flash is so it will pull a div box to load below? I guess the formatting in link (see the chain icon text) is an unrecognized protocol and I am used to the Dreamweaver formatting of links.

View 2 RepliesI have a flash animation I'm working on for a Web site and the java-based menu that's above it uses drop-down menus. Well, when the drop-down menus and the flash animation overlap, all you can see is the flash. The menu is behind it. This only happens on a PC-based browser. It is fine on a Mac. Any thoughts here? Any settings I'm missing here? The file is built in Flash CS4 using ActionScript 3.0. Here's the URL for the site (problem on home page when "Resources" menu drops down):
View 2 RepliesI am just learning AS3 and am reading up on instantiating and object.The code from the Quickstart book makes about 75% sense to me, as it covers syntax in the previous section. However, like every damn intro to code on the planet, it throws in new, unexplained syntax:

Line 1: I get var=myMC is defining a variable.. I don't however understand the colon. What does the colon do and what does MovieClip mean? I'd assume that new MovieClip() is a method.

i was trying to apply the scanline that covers up the 100% width and height and resize it whenever the stage is resized. and i also wanted the rounded gradiant shape that shows the majority portion of the center and rest fades out to black(background).
to achieve this, first i simply thought, i could just create the two shapes and put them on top of the movieclip. scanline was achieved by using bitmapfill(using 2x4 pattern). and the rounded thing was achieved by just creating a circle and blur it.
then i figured that this would not going to work because i need to have interaction on the actual movieclip thats now behind the round shape and scanline.
I've looked high and low for an answer to this and I'm hoping someone has an answer, or at least a tip on how to avoid it.I'm loading a static HTML file into a container via the jQuery load() method. This static HTML file has a script which loads a swf. When I load that particular file, I get the white screen of death (WSOD) and the page explodes and everyone in the room dies a horrible death.I've had this happen also when using the jQuery wrap methods (wrap, wrapOuter, etc.) when a swf is present.It seems manipulating the DOM with a container that has a swf object causes this. Does anyone have a solution or a way that I can prevent it happening?

The loading works fine, but some of my pages had specific jquery scripts and that's where I've struck out so far. I assumed all I needed to do was transfer the script importations, css stylesheets and the jquery functions to my main document, but it won't work.
I also tried importing the html as a the complete html, which works on it's own, but not when imported into the main document. Most recently I heard I should try shifting the jquery function calls to the end of the loaded document, to after the content, My scripts work, just not when imported, so I suppose my question is how can I make the main- and imported documents play nice with each other? What say you we make this a jump-start tutorial for all us noobs to reference?

I've been through a number of tutorials, but cannot get this file to play nice.On mouseover, the menu should animate down (play the clip). This brings up another question, however How do I get the menu to receed (animate up) when the cursor leaves the button region?

I have a menu in which when you click on a button, a rectangle moves up or down to sit behind the button clicked on (to highlight it). I was wondering how I can make the rectangle move smoothly as in the tutorial where the ball follows the mouse. Here is the code I have used:- Actions layer- Frame 1: currenty = -50; yto = -50; Frame 2: if (currenty == yto) { } else if (currentyyto) { setProperty(bar, _y, bar._y-10); currenty = bar._y; } Frame 3: gotoAndPlay(2); And for each button- on (release) { yto = -50; _root.contents.loadMovie("demopage.swf"); } With 'yto' specifying the location to move to.. This all works fine, I just cannot work out how to get that smooth springy movment as the the 'Mouse Follow with Easing' tutorial.

View 6 RepliesFirst, I am an ultra newb who has read about 50 tutorials in the past two weeks or so.So, here is what I am trying to do. I have a header navigation box in my flash page. I want, when someone opens the page, for an animation to play. Then, I want it to stop and display my menu.
What I have done: I created two frames and put my animation in one inside the movie clip. The second frame has the menu. When I try to test it, The frames flicker and the animation doesnt play.I tried putting stop() at the end of both frames. This just made it...not do anything and just display the menu.
A friend suggested putting "root.gotoAndStop(2);" at the last frame of my animation, but then I get an error.
I created a dropdown menu by using a mask over animation. When you rollover the correct button a mask lowers down showing the dropdown buttons. then you can roll over each one showing a small tint animation. I wrote a script on that layer telling it to gotoAndPlay(21) when you click any one of the buttons. however whenever I click on one of the dropdown menu Items nothing happens. Is this because of the stop action I have at that frame?? and if so How do I get around that.
View 2 Repliesi have my Main.swf which loads external .swf inside the main window, depending on the menu chosen (so for example button one loads 1.swf, button 2 loads 2.swf, and so on). i am sure you know this type of flash page option.
i have animations running on the "children" .swf!
problem is:
when i press on the menu button (depending how long i wait) the animation on the child swf is already come to an end. if i press menu button 1 after 5 second of the main window open, it loads 1.swf already 10 seconds in. (loading time takes a few moments)..... if i press button 1 after 25 seconds, 1.swf is already stopped playing!
